Alright, so I was sitting down, browsing the realms after playing Ultimate Spider-Man, and I thought to myself:
I don't think anybody's made a mafia about this yet.
So I decided to start one- and then the cold water they called common sense was dumped over my head.
I don't know how to make a mafia game. So what I really need is someone to explain to me how you start one. I thank you for your time.
There actually was an Ultimate Spider-Man mafia. Ran by biz. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Checking the Mafia Outcome Thread will let you know what has been done in the past, and checking the Mafia Dibs Thread will help you see who is planning on doing what. Mafia Outcomes are stickied to the top of the 'Mafia' Game General Discussion, and the Dibs thread is stickied to the top of the Sign-Ups Subforum
Is there some reason he can't run one??
Or is it customary to be rude to him, since it's been run already?

Dunno, i'd maybe wait a while before running it, it was fairly recentish.
Least thats what i'd do :nervous:

Yeah, I understand that. Unfortunately, nobody could be kind enough to tell him that. Instead he got bashed over the head. I'm not particularly happy that this is how we treat newer players, and yet we ##### about the veterans dying early in games, and newer players not participating.

Well, to start, I would try and co-mod with someone. Get some modding experience under your belt, and learn how the game is run behind the scenes. In particular, the way night actions are handled, and such.
Otherwise, I would run a Vanilla game. That's a game that has no theme, and very few powers. This is the simplest kind of game to run, and would give you a taste of what running a fully themed game is like.
This here is also pretty good at showing you the roles of the game and such: http://mikeburnfire.deviantart.com/art/Mafia-Roles-72597749

Couldn't agree more with both of your comments. Everyone is crying that they can't get people to join their games, but then they go and shun new blood. For shame.
As far as co-modding is concerned, great idea. Start slow with doing vote counts and keeping track of day powers and then during night phases look over the target file and ask as many questions as you can.

Oh, and playing in a game before modding one is something I highly recommend. It gives you a better idea what the players are going through so you can make the roles more attractive and entice more active players.
Might I suggest the Pro Wrestling Mafia (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=236091).
He's played before, I remember him from Carlos' Elseworlds/What If. Mainly because he was the first one to die and thus the first person I could talk to. I'm sure he's had some other playing experience. Still more in-game experience is better than less.

Ahh, I didn't really get into that gam before requesting to be replaced. Stupid moving.

Ironman has played in a few of my games. :)
I hope he runs one. Splashy was also thinking of running a game, but I don't know where he went. :noid:
