View Full Version : Your favourite mod?

I was thinking earlier today: every mod has their own modding style, and choice of characters/roles can depend heavily on which mod is GMing.
I was thinking of my favourite mods, and I've got to name a few of my favourites:
CarlosMucha - Despite not knowing what the #### is going on most of the time (because I gave up hope of understanding the write-ups long ago) I've consistantly enjoyed his games. I've loved the variety of roles aswell.
Doombot 3.1 - Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's only run one game - Skrull Invasion. I was reading through the roles again, and I just clapped. Actually felt so funny. I loved the set-up of the game, and I'm upset I died so early. I feel like I could have run a similar game - with several joke shape shifters - but I would have done it way worse. I would love to play another game of Doombot's, especially one of similar theme (Skrull Invasion 2?). Of all the games ever played on this forum, this was my favourite.
MSU - I've loved all his games so far (maybe that's because I love Disney (and Gay Bar Mafia felt a joke)). Disney 1 is in the Grand Hall of clap-worthy games. Disney 4 was such a funny twist on an old bag that I still laugh to this day (I'm still upset that Les Soeurs Aquatiques and Yao, Ling & Chien-Po's Chinese Take-away service weren't in it though :p). Most of all, I love his write-ups.
So, who is your favourite mod? Which mods do you like, but could improve on certain things (constructive criticism)?
Discuss. Or don't.

I find it odd that Doombot topped your list, despite the fact that he only had 1 game, while TMNT, sstarl and others in that class of mod, who have run several great games, didn't.
Or maybe I'm just still bitter over my involvement in the Skrull Invasion Mafia fiasco.

Peers, MSU and Stral get my votes.
If I had to pick three, I'd probably go with MSU, TMNT and probably Carlos, but it is all very game specific. All three have run games that weren't so great, but in general, they are very well done.

Also, anyone who votes for me is a damned liar.
Magnito (the write ups are filled with detail but vague...a classy move), Carlos (another one of those what the hell is going on but I still keep reading), and Sstral (the roles are unique and you never know what to expect) top my list, followed by ABF but really b/c of Arkham.
That game has been brilliant and possibly one of my favorite games that I have played in.
Hmmmm, my top 3 games mods would probably be MSU, Jackofhearts2005 and Carlos, just because they are the games i remember really enjoying, even if i didn't live through them

If I listed my top five games, I'd probably list five different mods.
Consistently, my favorite mods are TMNT, Melkhor and Sstral. Those three always have such good plot twists and unique powers.
Carlos is up there too for the same reasons and his storytelling ability.

I honestly never thought I'd see myself mentioned here so thank to all who did. That said, I haven't played enough games for any one mod to come to mind. I mostly mod my own games rather than play, however I have read through a couple amazing games. My goal is to eventually play a game from each mod. I should mention, though, that Peers has a special place in my icy mafia heart for running my first game ever and getting me hooked.
Oh and Thundercats is now open for sign-ups (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3692502#post3692502).
I like TMNT.
Unfortunately, his games are absent now...

Well, that's why they're -his- favourites and not your favourites in that list. ;)

Well, being as he started my addiction for Mafia, and he's the only one I've really done multiples of, I have to go with sstral... the dude had Kool Aid Man in a TF2.
I will say I look forward to K-ness's next one, the write-ups for Thunderbolts have been entertaining
Peers is pretty much an automatic for me. I miss his games terribly. Hell, I miss his presence in Mafia, period.
TMNT had some awesome JLA games. I was sad to not be able to continue to participate in them.
And while I continually question his technique, there's not a game of his I won't sign up for, so #3 would definitely go to Carlos.
Wait until you play Disney 6.....I have never spent this much time developing roles. It is gonna be a doozy!!!!
Poor unfortunate souls.....:devious:

In no particular order, my faves are among the following mafia mods:
1) CarlosMucha - whose awesome creativity is only matched by his bad spelling and grammar! ;)
2) Sstralkowski - who breathes new life into the phrase "expect anything!" and consistently jumps waaay outside the box.
3) Melkhor - whose scenarios and roles have levels of complexity that put most current Marvel writers to shame.
Finally, I give a special mention to AZS, who has run only one game but whose write-ups read like a pro's prose. ;)
Prepare to be spoofed Charlesx :cheeky:

No worries. If anyone is saying I'm their favorite mod, they must either be masochists or brownnosing at this point. :p
Me, I don't know if I have a favorite, but I'm loving Magnito's TV mafia right now, so I give it to him.

It is interesting that my favorite mod and favorite games differ a bit. Sometimes I liked a game because of the stories done or the way it was played irregardless of the modding style For example I loved reading Buffy but I dont really know how well the game was as i dont think I was in it.
I think my favorites are Carlos for introducing the Freddy effect and for making a simple vote switcher interesting
MSU for the colorful twist that was the Disney murder mystery
ABF for the weird games where I think even he doesnt know whats going on sometimes ;)
and Anyonouse for making a Space Potato, a mad violinist and this as part of the game
He was Dale Gunn/MAFIA, friend of commander Steel, janitor of the JLA bunker's headquarters and quintessencial ladies man who once walked past Gotham Central where suddenly Maggie Sawyer AND Renee Montoya became spontaneously pregnant.

Gotta agree here. I would be lost without a sounding board for my insane ideas.
