This week Sean and Craig discuss the merits of UNIVERSAL WAR ONE #1, CAPTAIN AMERICA #40, and 1985 #3 and talk about why they were both so disappointed with Hellboy II: The Golded Army.

0:00:00 - Spoiler warning
0:00:24 - Opening music [The Civilians - "Pop Chart Wannabe"]
0:01:11 - Introductions
0:03:21 - UNIVERSAL WAR ONE #1: Marvel's reprint of a gripping sci-fi French comic builds great characters and story.
0:11:50 - CAPTAIN AMERICA #40: Cap vs. Cap and Sharon vs. Sin in an all-out rumble issue.
0:18:50 - 1985 #3: The supervillains get serious and ramp up the destruction and mayhem.
0:23:58 - The Stacks
0:24:15 - GHOST RIDER #25 is a slight improvement over last issue.
0:26:47 - Sean gives oodles of praise to X-FORCE #5.
0:28:31 - CHECKMATE #28 is dragging its heels and Craig is getting impatient.
0:31:29 - TINY TITANS #6 brings another good dose of whimsy--this time with Blue Beetle!
0:32:09 - Craig claims GODLAND #24 may be a good issue for people interested in the series to try out.
0:33:13 - X-FACTOR #33 is plagued by weak art and a mediocre story.
0:36:25 - SCALPED #19 is a good issue building on the characters of Dashiell and his lady-friend Carol.
0:39:47 - HELLBLAZER #246 shows just what makes HELLBLAZER what it is: John Constantine's attitude.
0:42:00 - WAR IS HELL #5 wraps up Ennis' little de-glamour-ization of war on a quiet note.
0:43:20 - Craig finds OMEGA THE UNKNOWN #10 to be a "good" finish to the series, but not necessarily a satisfying one.
0:44:22 - IRON MAN: DIRECTOR OF SHIELD #31 is a little less exciting this issue.
0:45:15 - BIRDS OF PREY #120 is the big disappointment this week for Craig as the book becomes more "generic."
0:47:00 - Top of the Stacks: Sean - UNIVERSAL WAR ONE #1; Craig - UNIVERSAL WAR ONE #1.
0:48:17 - Niether Sean nor Craig were really pleased with the movie Hellboy II: The Golden Army, and talk about why that is.
0:57:00 - Next week: Craig - NOCTURNALS: CARNIVAL OF BEASTS; Sean - UNCANNY X-MEN #500; and WAR HEROES #1.
0:58:01 - Ending music [The Civilians - "Pop Chart Wannabe"]
0:58:21 - End

Loved the show listened while doing my workout over lunch.

I picked up the Universal War book based on your reviews.

I really like the format of the show and how well your comments tailor together.

Even though I picked up Cap A 40, X Force 5 and Universal War my first read was Black Summer 7---the art on this book is fantastic and the dialogue is great as well. Got to admit Hulk 4 was the second read(well it really does not have alot of writing). I avoided Checkmate based on your review so beware you are now popular enough to effect peoples buying habits.

Well, it goes both ways too. We've both picked up new books based on what listeners have suggested... :P

BLACK SUMMER's a limited series, right? I wonder if they'll collect it...
