Okay, we need 8 players. You may pick any of the eight parts listed below. First come, first serve for signing up and picking roles. Each role is good at twp or three things.

You'll then be assigned a case. Each round, you'll get a summary of what you know about the case so far, then be given a set of tasks to perform.

Each task will have a trait assigned to it. Anyone can attempt to carry out a specific task. If you have the appropriate trait, then you have a 90% chance of being successful. If you don't have the trait, you have a 60$ chance of being successful.

For each additional person assigned to the same task, the chance of success goes up 5%.

THE TRAITOR: Two or three rounds into the case, one player (randomly chosen) will receive a PM from me telling him he is a traitor, bribed by someone to interfere with the investigation. From that point on, that player will be secretly given opportunities to interfere with the investigation and assassinate fellow players. Odds on succeeding in these nefarious tasks will be PMed to the traitor each round.

This game takes a tad bit of time to moderate, so there will only be one new round posted per week.

The game ends when the case is solved OR all non-corrupt players are killed.

Here are the available roles:

1) Master Detective (Traits: deductive reasoning, forensics, interrogation)

2) Hard-Boiled P.I. (Traits: Street smarts, violence, interrogation)

3) Mind-numbingly sexy female operative (Traits: interrogation, disguise, burglary)

4) ex-Criminal (Traits: Street smarts, burglary, underworld contacts)

5) Retired Policeman (Traits: police contacts, violence, interrogation)

6) Former CIA Agent (Traits: government contacts, violence, disguise)

7) Computer Geek (Traits: hacking, research)

8) Brain-damaged ex-Boxer (Traits: violence, underworld contacts)

Remember, first-come to sign up and choose your role.

I'll play. And much as i'd love to be the mind-numbingly sexy female operative, i'm sure even more people would like me NOT to do that.

I'll jump in as the Computer Geek.

I'm in. And through process of elimination, I get stuck with:

3) Mind-numbingly sexy female operative (Traits: interrogation, disguise, burglary)

I feel...somewhat conflicted about that...

Your agency is contacted by wealthy insurance magnet George McWealthy. McWealthy claims his personal assistant, Peter Mousemouth, has embezzled nearly $200,000 in funds from the McWealthy Life Insurance Company. Apparently, Mousemouth secretly converted funds from the company expense account into cash gradually over several months. Two days ago, Mousemouth and the cash vanished.

McWealthy does not want to go to the police, since the situation would embarrass the company, hurt stock values and endanger his position as CEO. So he wants your agency to find Mousemouth and recover the stolen money.

McWealthy gives you Mousemouth’s address. He also tells you that Mousemouth has recently been seeing Audrey Slimhips, an art director at the Clever Advertising Agency. At Mousemouth’s recommendation, The Clever Ad Agency was recently hired to handle all of the ads and public relations for McWealthy’s company.

Your tasks are:

Search Mousemouth’s penthouse apartment: (burglary)

Question Mousemouth’s neighbors (interrogation)

Question Audrey Slimhips (interrogation)

Check to see if Mousemouth has used his passport while traveling recently (government contacts)

Check Mousemouth’s personal bank accounts and e-mail (hacking)

Secretly follow Audrey Slimhips (street smarts)

Remember that the person heading up a task gets a 90% chance of success if he/she has the right trait; and a 60% chance without the trait. Each additional person helping with the task adds 5% to the chance of success, regardless of whether the additional person has the correct trait.

Don’t worry about a traitor among you. There isn’t one—YET.

You all have until next Wednesday at 3 pm Eastern to work out among yourselves who will perform which tasks.

The only thing I am proficient in here is gov't contacts, so I can take the Passport query.

How about you question Mousemouth’s neighbors, and I'll take Audrey himself.

I'll secretly follow Audrey Slimhips, ignoring the hard rain, the hard cold rain, the hard cold purple rain, the hard cold purple driving rain...

Rokk_Krinn

Well, we only have two hours so we need to figure this soon.

Suggestions:

*Sending NotYou (ex-criminal) to use Burglary to search the apartment
*ABF (ex-policeman) Interrogates Mousemouth's neighbours
*Rokk (master detective) Interrogates Audrey
*Ignatz (former CIA) uses his Government Contracts to check the passports
*St-Dumas (computer geek) Hacks Mousemouth's accounts
*JackA (hard-boiled PI) puts his Street Smarts to use following Audrey

Space Jawa would be good to help with either interrogation or the burglary; our ex-boxer - Darkseid Sr. - doesn't have a fitting talent but his extra-brawn could be used to push success rate on a task (or make whichever task SJ adds onto a full 100% success).

Actually, you have 7 days and 2 hours. The deadline is NEXT Wednesday.

Sorry I wasn't clear on that.

Let's have SJ help one interrogation and Dk Sr the other. SJ on Audrey? Dk on neighbors?

I think we have a week, Rokk.

Space Jawa
07/30/2008, 14:30
*Ignatz (former CIA) uses his Government Contracts to check the passports
*St-Dumas (computer geek) Hacks Mousemouth's accounts

These two are pretty much going to have to take those two jobs, as they're the only ones with the skills required for best success on said jobs.

I don't think it's necessary that someone without the interrogation ability should use it if we have enough interrogators.

I don't think it's necessary that someone without the interrogation ability should use it if we have enough interrogators.

I don't think there's any penalty for using people though is there and if it increases odds of success...?

Let's have SJ help one interrogation and Dk Sr the other. SJ on Audrey? Dk on neighbors?

@ rokk, I was referring to this. I don't need to interrogate necessarily if we have another interrogator available.

Kalel21

Clarification: The person or persons helping to perform a task do NOT need to have the necessary trait. (Each additional person adds the 5% to the success rate regardless of their traits.) Only the primary person assigned to the task needs the correct trait in order to get the best odds of success.

Suggestion: Agree to have a head investigator among you who makes the final decision on who is assigned to what task. Either that or everyone will need to clearly post on an individual basis what they are doing prior to next week's deadline.

So, have we decided who's going to do what?

Kalel21
08/04/2008, 13:25
So far:

Ignatz Mouse is checking Mousemouth's passport usage

St. Dumas is checking Mousemouth's accounts and e-mails.

JackA is following Audrey Slimhips.

No one else has clearly stated what they are doing. You have two days yet, though.

Space Jawa
08/04/2008, 14:56
I'll take "Question Audrey Slimhips"

08/05/2008, 01:29
I'll interrogate Mousemouth's neighbors.

Kalel21
08/05/2008, 10:12
That covers all the tasks. Amora and Darkseid Sr. can still volunteer to help out with one or two of the tasks, thus raising the odds of success.

DIASTER STRIKES!!!

Guys, I'm sorry. Real life catches up to my game life and I'm going to be really busy at work now. I'm going to have to suspend this game. This is a time-intensive game to moderate (mostly in the time it takes to coherently write up the bits of information you all gather each round) and I'm not going to be able to keep it up for the time being.

My fault for being overeager to start the game. I should have waited a month or two before starting it, when classes have started again at the college where I work and I have enough time to moderate something this complex. But for the time being, I'm going to have to suspend operations at the HCRealms P.I. Agency.

Sorry--sorry--sorry. Poor judgement on my part in starting this game at a bad time. :disappoin:cry::(:ermm::confused:
