View Full Version : Australia (AU) Future of tournaments at Good Games Burwood?

It's been obvious for some time now that HeroClix at Good Games in Burwood (formerly Sydney Games Centre) has been going downhill. While clix at the Tin Soldier in York Street has gone through ups and downs and continues every week, Sunday tournaments in Burwood are a wretched shadow of their former glory.

Issues facing Good Games have included no dedicated judge; prices on new clix going up more than at Tin Soldier or Kings Comics in the city; no new prize support in many months; and very low turnouts (including multiple weeks when only one person showed up); among others.

I've been to Burwood on Sundays, arriving before the tournament is supposed to begin at 2pm, hung around for an hour with a book, and then gone home because there was nobody else there. It's happened to other clix players I know as well. Today we had four people for the sealed tournament (compared to ten at the Tin Soldier on Thursday night) and I found myself thinking that it was a decent turnout!

Most of the people who used to be regulars on Sundays have given it up - some for good reasons, and I suspect others because numbers had declined so much. But there are also a few people who can only come to tournaments rarely and only on Sundays, or who can't easily get to another venue.

Is it worth continuing to show up at Burwood on Sundays? I don't want to be the guy who doesn't show up and causes some other person to waste half a Sunday afternoon... but I've been the guy with a wasted afternoon myself.

Should we switch to an agreed-upon fortnightly schedule?

Is there some other solution that could be found?

...not a lot of interest then.

I can't make it this Sunday; there's stuff going on at home.
