MMORPG Character Classes

Hey guys. Just wondering, with all of the MMORPGs that there are out there, what are the basic character classes that are commonly seen throughout?

The absolute most basic...the holy trinity, as they've come to be called...are Tank, DPS, Heal/Buffer.

Tanks absorb damage.

DPS, or Damage Per Second exist solely to deal damage.

Healer/Buffers exist to keep the other two as healthy and strong as possible.

There's unique variations here and there...Pet classes that rely on summoned NPC's come to mind...but most classes can be boiled down to one of these three archetypes.
