Hey all!

Recently, D&D upgraded to 2.0, something much like what HC went through. So it's the perfect time to get into the game, and since matagal ko na tong gustong laruin (since I used to play the old D&D games sa PC: BG I, II, Icewind Dale I,II, NWN) I decided to get into it yehey.

Yesterday, we play tested the game and it's pretty good. Halos wala ng learning curve since practically HC naren siya minus the clicking plus the story telling hahaha

So if you want to play, post here! Or if you're already playing, then post what you want/need/anything.

Anyway, since it's pretty expensive, I think I'm just gonna focus on a few factions:

Evil Undead
Humanoid Party (ala Lotr)
or Cold-based monsters hehe

I'm also thinking of joining the DnD minis bandwagon though WOW minis look promising. Astig din yung details and paintjob ng mga figures just like DnD but in my opinion a notch higher and mas colorful.

As for WOW minis, ok nga siya, especially the game mechanics (Fallout style action points thing), but for 3 figures for the same price as D&D, medyo masakit. hehe

3 WOW figures for around P750?! Mahal pala!:surprised Pero kung quality sculpt and paintjob naman,I think its worth it. Let's just wait and see. September ata labas ng WOW minis sa US.

Hehe Finally... was playing this until late last year.... at worst of all binenta ko sa mga collector ung aking lumang colection... :( but ang kinagandahan sa dnd ung mga luma may updated na stat cards for dnd 2.0 and yes this is a very fun game to play.. at Cons wag mo ubusin ung mga boosters... balita ko nag NG hopping ka to get boosters hehehehe

cum september, im planning to buy an icingdeath set with drizzt the black elf and wulfgar the human , something like that, for all those months, nasisira kakaisip ko kung anong magandang laruin bukod sa heroclix at herochix, dream blade b or DnD's, finally, ill go to DnD!:)

bought Mechwarrior (dark age) and mage knight (pyramid) but didnt happen to try and play,played magic the gathering during my early 20's, bought a legend of the burning sands starter last week, bought a star wars ccg last year just to take a peak, now Dungeons and Dragons!

Mga Panyero! Musta na? I'm also looking forward sa wowminis...currently balik collecting lang ako heroclix..what else but my main man's own game, batman alpha..i just opened a few boosters pa lang...anybody may experience sa case? will you get the set if you open one? singles anyone?

with d&d, i played the rpg when i was in high school, well who didn't? mejo paubos na nga boosters nung d&d minis..may mangilan2 sa mga malls...which expansions belong to the 2.0 onwards block? i might join you guys here. :)

Yep, kinda expensive. ang target kasi niya is play out of the box for anyone..you and a friend can get a booster each and you can play with what you crack from your boxes right away...late november daw labas nya sa states so most likely baka new year pa yan dito...

i tried the downloadable demo...plus some of the info from the spoilers to test the game and i find it really good..especially if you're looking for the feel from the mmo.

Yehey marami rin palang interesado.

If you want 2.0 right out of the box, there are only 2 sets out so far, Dungeons of Dread and Against the Giants. There's also the starter set. The other sets are compatible nga, though you just have to download and print the cards....-__- but that's better than them being obsolete hehe Currently though mga 3-4 old sets palang ang nabibigyan ng updated cards.

Xands, I think same price sila, think lang naman. Kasi according to the dollar price, pareho sila.

yep, around 750 ang boosters. and take note na you really need to get a starter para makuha ung uBase nya (it's like a removable generic clicker for all the figs) kasi wala siya sa boosters...

May bagong starter set, I think it's a set on its own, ala-Fantastic Four starter ba. 5 pre-determined figs.

Hehe and you have to buy multiple WoW minis starters if you want bigger games (tatlo lang na Ubase ata sa starter? or 6 ba?)

Why yes! Ang alam ko pa lang na mga Dragonlance characters sa D&D Minis ay si Raistlin and Lord Soth. Recently lang lumabas si Rais (sa Night Below set...meron pa ata boosters nun sa NG) pero si Lord Soth medyo matagal na.

As for lakas...well red mage pa lang si Raistlin sa D&D Minis, so mga debilitating and magic missile spells lang meron sya. Very in character nga eh...kung may Caramon lang sila solb na ko haha

well War drums was the last starter of the old 1.0 set and surprisingly contained most of the uber units at that time.... if we can get to play epic games mas enjoy na! I use to play epic games at 500pts and up using the dragons :) faves set ko noon was war of the dragon queen, un ung set na kada bukas mo ng booster 75% of the time ung large fig mo rare na dragon! kaya naubos agad un set na un bwiset!

Well here is hoping meron pa tyong makuhang against the giants na set because magaganda ung mga large figs nya dun. I suggest to download the new rules and get to know the game, heroclix vets will not have a hard time learning and new players will find the game interesting as well.... para maiba naman hehe

napansin ko nga sabay sabay nagdatingan ang Dungeons of Dread, Against the Giants at Starter...bakit ganun katagal nagsidatingan yun?

Anyway masaya sana ang Against the Giants if not for it's steep price. 1,100 can buy me a starter na...or baon ko na sa opisina for 2 weeks haha.

Well with Dnd kasi, the price is usually equal to the stuff u get. You always get 1 rare per booster and most of the commons and uncommons are very useful in warband building..... mas konti ang latak sa Dnd lalo na pag naglalaro ng epic scale dahil you need all the figs u can get

Too bad konti lang ang gusto kong figs sa Against the Giants (or is that a good thing? Di ko alam haha). Mas gusto ko yung dungeons of dread for now, and I'm trying to buy as many night below boosters I can get. May deal ako sa may UST cheap pagprintan ng updated stat cards. :)

pero with d&d i can go back playing basta weekends tayo...

hehehe..:laugh:. musta na Mark? Saturday ata bukas may magpra practice ng new rules and ilang clix players for dnd sa Galeria. I heard may ilang interesadong Mech players din ang lalaro nito. Let's try it out...some ol DnD players are also planning to go back din at Gale for the tourneys. So this may turn out to be a long time thing and wont die like Horrorclix did. ;)

pag nagka loose change ako, bili kagad ako ng boosters at isang starter! malapit na ang december!

i want to have a: the beholder, yung maraming mata, ginaya ito sa majika, nakalaban ni angel locsin at ako,:p

at tsaka golden dragon at blue dragon.

tingin ko nga malakas si raistlin majere, sya ang naka feature sa likod ng box ng night below. may kapatid din ata sya.

malakas sya sa libro, pero sa laro mga secondary or tertiary attacker lang sya. :) WHen your enemies are packing +22 to +23 to attack with 25-28 defense and you're sitting there with raistlin's +10 attack, 22 AC, medyo...alam mo na. :)

May beholder sa Dungeons of Dread, dude. :) Pero ibang klaseng beholder sya...eye of flame ang tawag. Maganda din ang starter nila today. :) I talked about it sa blog ko...tingnan nyo na lang kung gusto hehe

Lalo lang if you have some cheap figs that can inflict fire damage. Kasi si efreeti kayang magteleport as a move action sa kahit sinong nagtetake ng ongoing fire damage...kahit gano kalayo I believe? Stig!

Marami pang mga spotlight sa magagandang figs sa Wizards website. Tingnan natin lahat. :)

yung red-robed na Raistlin medyo di sya ganun kalakas when compared sa ibang big-hitters pero at 26 points ay more than decent na din sya dahil sa kanyang sight-ranged radius effect na Sleep. Very useful sya to shut-down mid-priced units like yung mga nagkalat na Merchant Bodyguards (I think they can't use their ability when asleep) and other support pieces. Save ends yung Sleep so you can possibly paralyze affected enemies for more than a round. You can also pair Raist with Drizzt :devious: to boost his attack bonus by +4. Elminster of Shadowdale can also copy Raist's sleep but at a +17 attack bonus :)

but if you really want the bad-### Black-robed Raistlin, lumitaw na sya as the "Epic" version ni red sa ddm1.0 (promo fig sya sa GenCon and his ddm1.0 card can still be downloaded at WotC). This guy can activate 3 times in one round to rain meteor showers on every enemy within line of sight, use finger of death for insta-kill on an enemy titan, then teleport back to the safety of your assembly area once he's done. And yeah may unlimited Lightning Bolts din pala sya. I hope they reincarnate this mini in ddm2.0 :laugh:

Anyway, yun yung isa sa kina ganda nitong game, andaming power and combo possibilities.. Share ko lang tong article sa Wizard, ang ganda kasi nung mga teams kakainggit. Champion's Notebook: ATG (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mi/20080703a)

Natuwa ako dun sa team 2, ang galing ng synergy nung Pyromancers and Rakshasa, la lang.:knockedou

Interesting din yun team 4, kasi hindi siya more on combat, kumbaga sa horrorclix e parang un victim and board control. Pano ba exactly yung victory areas? Anyone who knows?

Lastly shempre yung team 1, I think this is the equivalent of a Superman team in HC, or maybe Herc and Namor team? hehehehe si Cons maghohoard na ng Skullcleaver at Merchant Guard hehehehe

normal size lang card ni raist pero kailangan mo ng magnifying glass para mabasa yung text hehe...

yung Victory Areas, specific locations yun sa map where players can score victory points (10 pts per round para sa 200-pt game for example) at the end of every round na may creature sila na nag-o-occupy ng atleast isang square sa victory area.

most of the time may separate victory area ang each player, usually located near the other side of the map away from his starting area (and near his opponent's starting area). may mga victory areas din na common for both players and located sa gitna ng map. needless to say madugo ang laban sa mga victory areas na ito :knockedou

ginawa yung victory areas to promote combat between the players and to prevent "turtling" by players (naka-camp lang sa isang lugar ang units and then lalabas na lang near the end of the game to kill a weenie to get the edge on points) :grin:

Victory Areas : these are the areas in the map where you gain victory points (5 points for every 100 point build), at the end of a round where you have at least one unit in your victory area. :)

all maps have victory areas pero not all scenarios use them. standard 200 pt and 500 pt tourneys - where the first player to earn that much vp wins - use the "Assault" format wherein the victory areas are used. pwede rin kasi 'ubusan ng lahi' wherein the points are meaningless, you just need to wipe out every single creature in the other warband :)

Yup, my ist dnd game was really a blast!! My figs Got blasted by that evil fig Lord Soth :laugh:. Anyway, I just followed the advice from Arvin and made my first tourney a learning experience using a real fun team theme by clix standards...but I really had more fun doing this.
Dnd is a great 2ndary game like Horrorclix once was. Thanks to all the vet players who accepted us in this game and made us feel real welcome. Lookin' forward to playin with you guys again...;)

It can be deemed as "expensive" compared to heroclix boosters, but if
you make a figure count per booster:
Heroclix 5 figures/booster = P 500
Dnd 8 figures/booster = P 750

And you have option of trading your heroclix for dnd minis since there are clix players playing dnd skirmish :)

NG Sells it for 1.1k i think...but that will be available pa next month. You can however ask some players ng DnD to sell some of their Starter kits to you...I heard some of them bought more than one so they could get multiple copies of the Human Sellsword and the Maps...;)

Heres a suggestion bro...try playing freeplay muna with us using borrowed figs from me , pat or cha. I can lend you my starter rule set and have it xeroxed. Lets learn this game din together as an alternative to clixing habang wala pa ang Arkham...and even after that. ;)

well to be honest ok ang Dnd as a primary or secondary game.. as well as for collection. (lalo na pag dragon collector ka kagaya ko or drow collector gaya ni cons at monster collector gaya ni charlon) price wise well it can be deemed as expensive if you want an entire set or want multiples of a certain rare fig but price wise halos patas lang sa clix.

Just some clarifications about the Oni (got this from Hordeling's Hougar2.0 and from the latest rules clarifications):

Line X: you can make a line attack up to X squares away, and you don't need LOS to that square to make the attack (like if it was in smoke terrain).

Oni's Gaseous Form: you can use this ability after a successful attack roll and just before damage is applied. The damage sequence goes like this--

1. determine damage dealt after a successful attack, double all damage on a crit except ongoing damage
2. add any power/ability bonus damage
3. apply damage reduction (Gaseous Form steps in here)
4. if applicable damage is still positive, apply extra damage due to vulnerability
5. damage is applied: subtract from current hp.

yup, that easy. the end point is the farthest corner of the target square, and all units up to that point but within X of the origin is hit. so you may target a square farther than X but only those within X is hit :grin:

pwede pa naman magtago sa likod ng pader hehe :laugh:

si Thrall pala pre kahit melee reach 2 tatalab pa rin yung "A New Thrall". Basta any melee attack pwede i-trigger yung ability na yun, adjacent man or not. so safest way pa rin is to shoot him with an arrow. or a Lightning Bolt :devious:

kung sawa na kayo sa Oni, ipasa nyo lang sa akin ha:laugh:

What we usually do with Thrall is damage him to the point where he has a round 10 hitpoints and them attack him with a small fig (fillers) which they usually hit considering his low AC in case you don't have any abilities or shooters to kill him. Kaya kung mag "A new thrall" man, it's easy to kill....

Question about Confused:

Pag sinabing "controlled by opponent", does this mean that it counts as an ally for your team and can attack the opposing team?

Also, pwede ba tong gawin:

Can C move from 1 to 7 to trigger AOs?
And if A was an opposing character (meaning kakampi ni C), mag AO ren ba?

If your opponent's fig is still confused when he activates it, then he rolls the # na you will control it, then it is considered part of your warband for that round and yes you can have it attack any legal target(fig) of your opponent. Then it saves if it is still confused or not....

I think you can also move the said fig through your opponent's guys and have them make an AoO to the controlled fig....

Confusing talaga yang confuse ability na yan :confused:

From the latest errata and FAQ:

Like what mickey said, when a confused creature activates and its owner rolls anything from 1 to 5, the confused creature acts as if Dominated. What is Dominated?

Dominated (condition): The affected creature cannot use special powers, take immediate actions, or make opportunity attacks. When the Dominated creature is activated by its player, the opponent gains control of it and takes actions as if it were part of his or her own warband. On the Dominated creature's turn, the only attack actions it can take are basic attacks (can't charge also - Pusher)

So when you gain control of an enemy fig, you can consider it as part of your warband and as such your own units can not make an opportunity attack against that controlled unit. Your opponent, the owner of the Dominated creature which you now control, can make opportunity attacks on it.

Opportunity attacks can only be made against enemies. An enemy is a creature controlled by your opponent.

Whaaat? So in my scenario above, if A was the teammate of C, and C happens to roll a 1 for the confuse roll, C can attack A, then move from 1 to 7 to get killed by A? hahaha dugas.=l

Wala akong TBA e, pero I have a feeling kelangan na siyang paghandaan haha kelan kaya mag kakaron ng list ng mga immune sa sleep at confuse hehehe

Charl pwede mo i-swap yung move or attack actions for another minor action (but not the other way around). So pwede ka 1 move or 1 attack then heal twice :grin:

Pesteng mga Galeb Duhr rolling stones yan eh... nakakabato kalaban! 2 rounds na resist 30 damage, pati mga EB-boosted Champion of Dol Dorns ko walang nagawa hehe :knockedou

lesson learned: after the mounted cavalry charge, attack with your rider asap before maka-shift away yung enemy. can't move na kasi yung rider pagkadismount nya so wala na sya aabutan pag tinakbuhan ng kalaban :devious:

also. I asked around regarding the stacking of similar multiple ongoing effects that deal the same type of damage: only the highest will take effect, overlapping the minor ones..

Elou sino nga palang punisher yun? ;)

my guess is pag nauna si stormrage blue baka madale si large red.. then again large red has a higher AC and draconic fury... (may reroll power pa cya...)

but seriously large blue+stormrage blue= ownage!! (in 200pt warbands medyo killer tong 2) you have 2 burst attacks na hinde nauubos, not to mention ung sa stormrage blue dragon sight lang kelangan to make a burst attack, combined with large blue dragons champion power na splash damage... sick!

..Halfling paladin, kobold archer, dj spider are terrific support figs. Never Trade them unless tinutukan ka ng baril o i threaten na yakapin ni Charing :laugh:
If you start playing Dnd masaya rin...its very much like Clix din kasi kaya enjoy na enjoy maglaro nyan lalo na sila Pat at Cha (Mahilig kasing maghawakan ng Dragon ng isat isa yung dalawang un eh). Lol :laugh::eek:

Clarification lang 25 damage yun when you hit; hit or miss magiging difficult terrain ata yung adjacent square. (i'm not sure if yun yung effect pero it does not mean na hit or miss 25 damage it just means hit or miss may effect na mangyayari)

Si LGD sigurado sangkaterbang bodyguards dahil you can't fit-in any other hitter :knockedou Si Young Red definitely Skullcleaves dahil yung additional 20 bonus damage sa crit champion effect :devious: Si Large Red at Blue di ko pa alam... siguro Elf Dragonkiths... o kaya Thrall! (di ko lang sure kung tama ang faction)

Currently wala pang 2.0 stats yung mga gargantuan dragons. Pero pag nagkaroon am sure mga badass din yung mga yun! the G. Blue comes with a great map though...

Malakas din naman dragon mo Alvin and can do battle with our LRDs and Gold Dragons but I suggest dont concentrate much with Dragons now that mejo mahirap at ginto lalo na yung LRD at Blue Drag...ang hanapin mo eh yung kaya pang makuha sa current boosters like Skullcleaver (with Horse dapat ha?) at Oni sa Borderland Factions...TombBoundArcanist, Arcadian Avengers at Eladrin Pyromancer sa Civilization Factions naman.
For support figs, the Merchant guard is a must...

Judge Chris and Dnd's Champ Dags...will you please continue my list of Must haves and possible armies hehehe...dont make it expensive like ala LRDs, Drizzt or Eye of Gruumsh (which cost me a soul just to get :laugh:) ha?
...Yung sa level lang na kayang makuha like Eternal Blade, Dwarf Warlord or the Halfling Paladin.
I'm sure the newbies would love to read this...;)

Sige, let's try to come up with a list of competitive minis available to ddm2.0 :grin: Take note that these are based solely on my personal experience and preference only. This list is certainly not complete. Update ko na lang ito from time to time for additions and removals :grin:

CORE UNITS (those units that you would build your warband around on dahil they represent the best in their respective disciplines)

Skullcleave Warrior - autocrit with cleave, another 30-dmg bash, overall good stats for only 39 pts.

Oni - lightningbolt, cone of cold, gaseous form, sneak attack for +10dmg, only 38 pts!

Thrall of Black Razor - Hard to kill because of Devour Soul and if you did kill him there's A New Thrall. Haste makes him golden.

Tomebound Arcanist - do damage from your back court. unlimited big radius Confuse effect that could potentially lock down opposing units

Exarch of Tyranny - Bladestorm for the win. Charge in for 20 dmg then hit the adjacent enemy again for another 20 when it activates. Best if one Exarch will base multiple enemies for muliple free attacks. Great AC, DEF, attack bonuses. Heals too for every kill.

Large Gold Dragon - dual attack for 30 dmg, high AC makes it hard for non-Skullcleaves to kill this unit. tricky champion effect that offers an alternative way of winning the game

Voracious Ice Devil - insane AC and DEF. High attack, high dmg, do an alpha strike with Ice Storm then charge into the fray to maximise his Unholy Cold Aura. Cone of Cold to finsh off wounded enemies.

Elf Arcane Archer - there's no where to hide from the phase arrow. once you get close he'll shower you with a deadly rain of steel. must appear in multiples to maximise the phase arrow if this unit will form your core

Champion of Dol Dorn - good dmg with Feat of Strength. good stats. Defender ability gives you additional free attacks.

Arcadian Avenger - dual attack for up to 25 dmg each. so cheap you can run up to 4 of them in a competitive warband. Elude chance improves chance to hit.

Digester - hide, speed 8, above-average AC and DEF, 80hp, has Acid Cone and Spittle only for 38 pts!

Galeb Duhr - good damage, great damage-reducing abilities! I was nearly massacred by this one.

other CORE units na I'm gonna try out in the near future:

Death Knight
Large Red Dragon
Deathpriest of Orcus
Red Hand War Sorceror

SUPPORT UNITS (those that are meant to support the core and because of their abilities multiplies the effectiveness of CORE units or even just serve as secondary threats )

Human Sellsword - 50hp, can do 30 dmg, only for 14 pts!

Mercenary General - 4 champion rating if you badly need to win map and round inits, can boost weenies' speed and cohort's damage. can also temporarily boost 1 alliy's DEF

Eternal Blade - +10dmg & +2atk boost to up to 3 allies versus certain enemies, 4 champ rating also. can also give +4DEF to allies for up to 3 rounds if you're facing those pesky TBAs. Can easily deflect A New Thrall with Moment of Perfect Mind

Drow Enforcer - riposte. look it up hehe

Delver Sgt - can copy 1 allied champion power or lets you activate 3 units in any 1 turn! imagine activating 3 Skullcleaves in the first turn of the round when you are only allowed to activate 1 unit.

Warhorse - gives your heavy-hitter a free attack and bonus 10 dmg when charging. increases mobility of your tanks (like the Exarch of Tyranny)

Merchant Guard - 30hp bodyguard for only 8 pts

Hobgoblin Marshall - TBA's, Thrall's, and LGD's best friend, can grant 1 move action at the start of his ally's turn. think move in, use breath weapon, then move out to safety.

Wild Elf Warsinger - gives +10 bonus dmg to charging allies w/in LOS

Cleric of Pelor - +5 radiant damage to allies with in 5. provides healing (very rare in the game) also

Halfling paladin - anti-charge tech and heals also

Dwarf Battlemaster - anti-crit tech or gives +10dmg. above average champion rating (3)

Rikka - Heal 20 as a minor action

Thundertusk Boar - warhorse of the dwarves

Wild Mage - provides long-ranged support with unlimited radius dmg effect at sight.

Young Red Dragon - +20dmg to Skullcleave's crit

Runecarved Eidolon - +5dmg to all allies!

Militia Archer - cheap champion 2, can boost the attack of low-level allies versus higher-level enemies

Ano pa ba... kakapagod pala magtype ng ganitoh :eek:

FODDER (cheap warband fillers na mga pakain sa buwaya, and you can earn some victory points while you're at it na rin) - must have multiples of these

lemme add a little to dags list:

CORE units:

(tried and tested)

Large Red Dragon! (woot nuff said!)

Large Blue Dragon! (unlimited radius attacks!!)

Mounted Paladin!- extremely fast, hich AC and High AV! Not to mention a good charging unit!

Lord Soth! (scary champion couple him up with a hobgoblin marshall to make up his slow speed)

Death Knight- one of the few hitters that actually hits hard and has tons of awesome powers and not to mention a fairly cheap cost!

Tordek Dwarf Champion+ baboy ramo! Raging tuskboar or Arcadian Hippogriff!!- even though he has a fairly high AC his 100hp 20 AV and cleave ability makes up a lot of punching power for this dwarf also added that giants bane and awareness makes him a heavy hitter! Not to mention when riding his boar mount, he can hit reallly hard! If he chooses to ride the Hippogriff, elude chance for a 30 AV (31 when charging!) means he can hit almost anything in a 200pt warband game! and the smite evil boost by the hippogriff can also help in dealing with evil targets!

Mind Flayer Lich!-unlimited confuse blasts! (the evil counterpart of the TBA, tomebound arcanist, albeit much sturdier) a cone weapon and the ability to use up your opponents champion power!

Drizzt!- c'mon dual activation and the chance to use unique creatures into you warband ain't bad... Used him with tordek and a boar! (effective)

Fist of Moradin- not bad for 12 pts gives you a bonus +1 to AC and DEF!

Harmonium Guard!- similar to the fist of moradin! use them both for double the fun!! (combo with LGD and your warband has +4 AC!! haha!)

Halfling paladin- charge protection!!!

Cleric of Pelor- really annoying support piece, +5 radiant dmg to allies plus the ability to heal 15hp on a natural roll of 16+ for allies is not a bad trade off, pair this up on a warhorse and a merch guard and you are set to go

Eternal Blade- a really powerful champion piece, nifty powers and 4 champ rating aint bad

Dwarf Battlemaster!- great ability to add 10 dmg on melee attacks! This guy is also the skullcleavers worst nightmare! with the power to nerf a critical hit!

Arcadian Hippogriff!- a martial characters best friend tons of options and this ones also tough for a mount! not to mention dual attacks that can be used on a charge!

Snaketongue Cultist!- weee free melee attack! (for 2 times) plus poison effect on melee weapons!

My advice/opinion to the new players (feeling vet wahaha), make do with what you have.:) If that won't do, then uhh buy / borrow / earn the ones you need, to compliment the ones you have.:)

I'll give an example. Actually, halos same tayo ng 1st booster Alvin, I too got Emerald Orb in my first booster. So let's start there. The upside is that he's very damaging, up to 30dmg yung area attack niya (if in difficult), radius 2 pa! Plus, he has an auto damage ability, which is nice to have if your opponent has a 33 AC fig down to its last 10hp.:) Downside: Low HP, Low AC = Easy 33pts for the enemy.

Let's try to make a cost effective team out of his strengths first (meaning MURANG TEAM, yet kahit papano, competitive). For this example, let's build an Underdark team (obvious kase yung Civilization hehe). Ngayon yung isang ability niya increases his damage if a target is in difficult terrain, so let's put the Ice Archon in your team, because he has the ability to turn adjacent squares into difficult terrain (for free!). Next, a champion would probably be a good idea, para sayo yung map choice, let's put the Drow Bladesmaster as your Champ. Then lets add the Duergar Slaver, not only to increase the champion rating to 3, but also to cast invisibility on EOW, para protected siya.:) Then let's add other hitters, like the Deathjump Spider, who actually has synergy with the Bladesmaster, and maybe the Vampire Hunter para may isa ka pang Ranged attacker who can take out fillers/fodders (especially since crucial yung nearest attack ni EOW). Then finally, fillers, like say Darkmantle and Boneshard Skeleton, pang camp lang sa victory area hehe or grant you combat advantage when needed.:) So the team is:

Emerald Orb Wizard (R - DuoD) - 33
Ice Archon (U - Duod) - 66 (29 AC,19 attack 20 dmg with slow, 8 move!)
Drow Bladesmaster (C - DeoD) - 22 (Champ 2, gives up to +10 dmg to Spiders/Drows)
2x Deathjump Spiders (C - DuoD) - 11 x 2 = 22 (I sense a pattern) (Three words: Death from above!) hehehe
Duergar Slaver (C - Unh) - 26 (+1 to Champ for init, Invisibility spell.)
Vampire Hunter (U - Unh) - 18 (Nearest range attack for 15.)
Boneshard Skeleton (C - DeoD) - 7 (uhh Deathburst?)
Darkmantle (C - NB) - 6 (Flight, wandering monster.) (pwede reng dalawang Dire Rat)
= 200 pts

Champ 3, 9 Activations, around 370 hp. Probably won't win against sila Skullcleave, especially with the low HPs and low ACs, but it will put up a good fight. While Ice Archon pins the enemy down (no shift for them), chipoy chipoy nalang yung mga Spiders/Drow/Hunter, and your EOW blasts away from a distance. And to think, it's only composed of a bunch of commons and uncommons (most are easy to get, except probably for Drow Bladesmaster), and the rare you got from the pack.:knockedou maybe other people can suggest a Civilization team with your EOW and Halfling Paladin, this time to eliminate EOW's weaknesses (Merchant Guard:cheeky:).

emerald orb is really good kaso tlagang 40hp lang sya, i think in two turns patay na kagad sya or even maybe 1 turn.

whats with poison? is this like magic the gathering, when you have 10 poison counters youre deadmeat, gameover kumbaga, but how bout in DnD?

Swerte ni georgie sa booster ha, yes, i believe in the last booster phenomenon!

of all the mention figures, 3 figures lang ata ang meron ako, emerald orb wizard, dj spider and halfling palain?

Well its a given that dags is great at D&Dminis and so is pat since matagl na din sya naglalaro but to read new players with great insight on how to build a warband is great hehe. Gagaling talga mga players dito. Hmmm wala na ako madagdag sa mga list dito basically nacover na ang list ng mga core at support figs na a must have sa 2.0 eh.

So sa mga magsisimula pa lang keep in mind mga sinulat ng tao dito.

Yes guys, laro lang ng laro kesa manuod lang and be afraid coz kulang ang pieces nyo or you dont think your factions are strong enuff..everything starts with the first step and thats free play. Collecting is only half the fun. ;)

Anyway...familiarity with the rules,figs and strategies (coupled with our Heroclix background) will go a long way in your DnD games. DnD (and SW too in that matter) is very much like clix really, with just a bit more things lang to memorize than the printed colored powers that we are accustomed to.

Champion Dags and Veteran Pat has already discussed some of the figs' strengths and weaknesses...going up against these guys and such "power" figs will help you develop ways to counter and win against them.

But don't forget the first thing why we play clix, sw or dnd...it's to have fun while playing with our friends. For what's the use of winning a tourney...if we lose the respect of our peers in the end? :cool:

Yes Carlos the game is great and talagang hindi ka magsasawang maglaro and collect Dnd Figs... I started out just collecting the Dnd characters I grew up into like Drizzt, Bruenor and Wulfgar (plus Gwen) and now my collection have grown to something I could be real proud of.
Start your own collection and play with them in skirmishes to experience the game with all its glory. The Pusher is right, we can help you collect the figs you want from the boosters by asking the right people for the characters you desire...for sure maraming vets dyan na nagbibitiw ng mga Dnds na gusto mo for a reasonable price or trade. ;)
Or , just wait for the new shipments ng Dnd boosters sa NGrounds...it will be here within the week ata? So just be patient.

"The legend of Drizzt" by R.A Salvatore

You'll learn about the life of Drizzt mula sa ipinanganak sya, till he came to the surface and became friends with Bruenor Battlehammer, Regis, Wulfgar, and Catti-brie. Kaya lang the story has 13 chapters but really amazing to read. I'm reading book 11 and you won't be sorry if you deceide to read this book....

Thanks Mickey Mouse...i just read the Icewind Dale trilogy lang and a few ones where he fought the Spiderqueen, and the part where Artemis got to wind up in the underdark. Too far to track na yun since time immemorial ko pa ata nambasa and partly nahiram sa kaibigan ko un. :classic: ...Well, ill try to look at scans lalo na un prior Bruenor and Wulfgar years ni Drizzt.
Btw, can you post again the remaining figs you have for sale? Para ma update naman kami and get some figs again....that way hindi naman kami gaano maingit k Xandy pagdating ng 25k worth figs nya:cry::p

We have received a tremendous amount of feedback from fans regarding the D&D Miniatures line, and have made some exciting changes for 2009. Here’s what’s coming to a shelf near you!

Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures -- Player’s Handbook Heroes
More than anything else, D&D players have been asking us for more PC (player character) minis. The D&D Heroes line features high-quality miniatures representing iconic player character races and classes described in the Player’s Handbook and Player’s Handbook 2 core rulebooks. Now players will be able to find the miniature that best represents their PC, and Dungeon Masters can use these figures to represent non-player characters in their adventures.

Launching in Spring 2009, the first D&D Heroes series features six different packs (18 figures total):

Martial Heroes 1
Martial Heroes 2
Arcane Heroes 1
Arcane Heroes 2
Divine Heroes 1
Primal Heroes 1
Each package contains 3 PC minis: 2 males and 1 female, and 3 unique power cards featuring brand new class powers. All three of the figures in the package will be visible so you’ll know exactly which pack to pick for your game.

The D&D Heroes will be refreshed regularly in order to continue to deliver new PC options to players. There are two series scheduled for 2009 and three scheduled for 2010. MSRP $10.99.

Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures -- Monster Manual
Also new to the 2009 lineup are Monster Manual themed releases. These sets are designed to be what every Dungeon Master (or D&D enthusiast) needs to create riveting adventures and exciting encounters at all levels of play.

Releasing in Spring 2009, the first D&D Monsters set is called Monster Manual: Dangerous Delves. This will be a 40-miniature set containing both medium and large sized figures. Each semi-randomized “booster” box contains 5 minis: 1 visible figure, 1 rare figure, 1 uncommon figure and 2 common figures, as well as full-color D&D Dungeon Delve stat cards for each miniature. MSRP $14.99.

Upon the release of D&D Monsters and D&D Heroes, we will no longer package the D&D Miniatures line in its current configuration (fully randomized booster packs and huge packs). This means that November’s set -- D&D Miniatures: Demonweb -- will be the final release sold in fully randomized booster packs

wow. The brand manager of D&D Games issued an article explaining the upcoming changes. Everything explained well enough, pero yung pinakamalaking announcement ay yung pagdiscontinue ng skirmish stats. Pure RPG figs na lang sila after Demonweb.

buti na lang DDM has

but seriously, ddm has been tragically and unsuspectedly dealt a critical hit on the balls but it is far from over yet. the worst thing that could happen is that WotC would stop producing minis for D&D altogether. from what i've read, they'll do just the opposite: they'll produce higher-quality minis to justify the reduction in mini per box and the increase in price.

kagabi when i read the article i was really disappointed but now i am more hopeful. even as we speak, a core of dedicated (and noisy) players, the same people behind the DDM Oracle and the freelancers who brought us the Bloodwar restats are working double time to keep this game we love so much alive.

in a nutshell, the freelancers will create stats for the minis produced after Demonweb which can be used solely for skirmish games. and from the quality of work they did on the Bloodwar set, I'm positive na maganda ang kalalabasan nito.

in the meantime, we still have Demonweb to look forward to and the restat of the 10 older sets to be completed by mid-2009 :classic:

so let's not give up on DDM yet!

I made a mistake in the first round advancing Lord Soth too far away from his bodyguards. The result: the Archers made a pin cushion out of Soth and after only 3 shots (1 was a crit) using Eidolon-boosted Phase Arrows, the boss of the Death Knights was no more.:eek:

With nearly 1/3 of my warband's cost blasted away by those cowardly elves hiding far away behind the forests of King's Road, it was time to panic. With nothing else to lose, I advanced my remaining units deep into the enemy's base, hoping to flush out the rats who call themselves Arcane Archers. A charge from a Warhorse-mounted Skullcleaver made minced meat out of the Runecarved Eidolon with an autocrit and a kick from the Warhorse for 65 damage, taking out the ugly robot. The Warhorse just laughed at his puny AC23. My Onis then criss-crossed lightning bolts across the group of Archers who erroneously grouped together in a manly group hug after killing Lord Soth, making them just right for the picking by my Horseriders later on.

His Young Green Dragon advanced and spit a cone of poisonous phlegm at my other Skullcleave and Warhorse but their noble bodyguards, still guilty from letting Lord Soth die, took all the damage. The Skullcleave then returned the favor with a Warhorse charge attack that would make Aragorn proud, sending the Young Green to dragon hell.

Still down by 10 pts (Lord Soth's 98 vs Eidolon and Young Green's 88) it was no time to relax. I knew the Elf Arcanes would strike back at my approaching units with Rains of Steel. Fortunately one Elf Archer, in a fit of panic perhaps, brainlessly charged at the Skullcleave who killed the Eidolon instead of showering him with little bits of metal. I heard the Elf was using the Eidolon for something else during off-hours...:noid: He paid for it with a Sneak Attack from a flanking Oni which was lurking in the forest, waiting for the time to pounce. He didn't last long after that when the Skull made use of his Great Cleave. Realizing the error in tactics, the rest of the Archers blew away with their Rain of Steel this time, taking out one Skullcleave. The Warrior died happy. Onis were hit too but they promptly assumed vapor form, reducing all the damage by half. Oddly enough, the warhorse survived and lived the rest of his life as a victory point grabber. He would later be killed by the last shot of the game though, from the last remaining Elf Arcane Archer who preferred surrendering than to die fighting. A wise decision, considering his 3 pals were massacred by my remaining Skullcleave and two Onis. The kobolds were left to wander the forests... lucky for them my Thrall of Blackrazor didn't tag along for the fight...

Be it as it may...ill continue supporting my favorite game (next to clix of course) to the bitter end. We can still play skirmish and collect the uber great figs that Dnd is...the game is not dead unless the players say so and I dont see that happening for a long time. ;)

A hint at things to come...

I'll likely be part of the upcoming Guild, and will focus on the organized play aspects of DDM after WoTC bows down. In a way, this will allow us to develop many aspects of skirmish that WoTC did not have the time or money to develop.

Here's the general plan I have;

[1] Continue the competitive scene, but with only two categories: constructed (100/200/500) and sealed.

[2] Embrace "less competitive" or fun play.

---[a] I'd like to see the dungeon run multiplayer format catch on (score treasures, not points).
---[b] I'd like to see theme-based, massively multiplayer games occur. The results of hundreds of battles between themed armies would be collated, and the overall fortunes of a bigger war decided.

[3] Keep the game fresh.
One mechanism to do this is to release Red Cards. (The red card project has been pitched some time ago to WotC, but ended up turning into the Epic blue cards). Red cards are alternate cards for the same piece. A given piece would have up to two cards that could be played with it (think, a second non-epic card for each piece). Other ways include new map and format development, including team play mechanisms.

If anyone has concerns for going forward, or would like to contribute or develop an idea, post it here and lets start identifying things to do.

well, Demonweb, the final set to be released with skirmish stats (as of now, and if the skirmish customers don't have their way with wotc :laugh:) had its prerelease tourneys last weekend in the US (only heaven knows when, or if, it will ever arrive here :laugh:) and this mini caught my (and many others') attention:

I see a big potential for this guy, considering that most units only have 1 attack action. Like the Warhorse (rider gets a free attack on a Warhorse charge), this guy multiplies the attack action that a creature could execute (an ally can immediately make a charge attack when the Battle Champion hits with a charge of his own). Damage overload is key to this game and having additional attacks will only lead to more damage dealt.

The Warforged Battle Champion is a must-include in any civ warband.

parang lumalabas hindi lahat ng Drow ay evil (am not an expert on this btw, nakabasa lang ng ilang books), karamihan lang siguro sa kanila and they appear evil din dahil sa kanilang culture (madalas ang ubusan ng lahi sa menzoberanzan, o kung ano man ang tawag nila sa world nila underground, ang teknik lang ay dapat gawin nila with finesse dahil kapag na-caught-in-the-act sila, magpapatawag ng mga demons ang mga kapit-bahay na clan nila para ubusin ang kanilang mga kamag-anak :knockedou). tapos puro sila gusto maging #1 na clan kaya madalas sila mag-ubusan ng lahi hehe... madalas din sila mag-raid above ground :eek:

I think worldwide release ng demonweb will be tom and hopefully dumating agad dito so we can have our next tournament na.

Hindi mamatay DDM as long as there are people supporting it like us!!! hehe

as for drows true na majority of them are evil pero hindi lang si drizzt ang good madamidami na din sila in fact there are a bunch of drows na nakatira sa surface who worships elistree(spell check) not to mention jaraxle who may not be good good but not the typical drow.

call it wishful thinking, but everytime I browse at hordelings and the wizards ddm site I can't help but feel optimistic about the future of DDM Skirmish.

I mean...

1. the latest set, Demonweb, looks like it's going to be a strong skirmish set by the looks of its stats so new players can still load-up on strong skirmish pieces (Against the Giants and Dungeons of Dread sets are also still available in the market!) or have access to trade fodder that will enable them to get older pieces from the vets

2. new minis are still being created and we have a bunch of professional players who have committed to designing the skirmish stats for future sets

3. we have a rules source (http://www.ddmoracle.com/), also player/community-driven, that is more robust and detailed than the actual skirmish rulebook

4. there's still 10 older sets that will be re-statted until the middle of next year which will bring new levels of playability for my older minis collection

5. we have the DDM Skirmish Guild that will take care of organized play when WotC finally goes full blast on rpg support

6. new minis with higher-quality sculpts and paint jobs are underway

7. we still have players and tourneys here in the Philippines. yay!

so for those of you here who have ddm in their blood (and in their minis storage bins) let's keep it alive people! :grin::grin::grin:

Cross-posting this from wizards... just a few fleshed-out details about the DDM Guild I mentioned a few rounds back. Good news is organized play will continue and all existing minis will be converted to version 2.0. Bad news is their guild logo/crest/flag sucked big time!:laugh::laugh: Buti na lang hindi pwede magpost ng images dito hehe... No news yet about stats for new sets :noid:

A formal announcement is expected at D&DXP around Feb next year (tagal pa pala). In the meantime, play play play!!!:cool: I think a 100pt tourney will be held this sunday. Time to use your Emerald Orb Iron_Cowboy! Just make sure to bring along a Flooded Ruins map :grin:

We've been delaying this update for a bit as we await the resolution of a few details. However, we know that folks are clamoring for news, so here's what we've got at this point:

Guild Name

A name has been chosen based on popular consensus: DDM Guild. Long live the DDM Guild!

Guild Leadership Structure

The DDM Guild will operate initially with the following leadership structure:

Guild Team

Guildmaster: Responsible for the overall operation of the Guild.

Chapter Lead: Works with the Chaptermasters to ensure the Guild is fulfilling the needs of the individual chapters and the chapter membership as a whole.

Chaptermaster: Works with the Chapter Lead and individual members of a chapter to organize and report events, as well as to feed input from the chapter members to the Guild Team through the Chapter Lead.

Community Liaison: Works with the Chapter Lead to feed input from the community as a whole (including special interests, such as fan sites like Maxminis and Hordelings, as well as geographic areas, such as Europe or South America) to the Guild.

Organized Play Lead: Works with the Chapter Lead to determine formats to sanction; establish a sanctioning process, ranking system, and sanctioning and reporting rules; and works with Chaptermasters to provide judge resources and prize support.

Guild Crier: Responsible for maintaining mailing lists and promotion of the Guild and its operations. Coordinates, edits, and sends quarterly newsletters and frequent email briefs.

Design Teams

Design Lead: Responsible for overall set design, rules design and development, as well as organizing and implementing new formats as designated by the Organized Play Lead.

Development Lead: Responsible for working with Chapter-masters to playtest new rules, cards, and formats prior to their official release.

Design Team Lead: Leads an individual team through the process of designing a set of cards, as well as working with the Development Lead to incorporate comments from chapters to prepare a final release.

Tony Gullotti (Dagaron) of Indiana is point person on the design and production of a custom DDM Guild miniature. The miniature will be available by Gen Con. The Guild Crier is busy working on the first quarterly DDM Guild newsletter. Keep your eyes peeled!

Organized Play

The Organized Play Lead is busy working on updated floor rules and a judges' test. These documents will be ready to debut at D&D Experience, if not sooner.

DDM Oracle

The DDM Oracle team is busy working on a conversational rulebook, which will debut no later than D&D Experience. Also, the Oracle's Comprehensive Rules Guide recently has been updated. In addition, the Oracle team is requesting community feedback by beta-testing two proposed rules changes. Feedback may be posted on the WotC forum or Hordelings.

D&D Experience

The DDM Guild will officially launch at D&D Experience 2009. We will hold a Guild Meeting on Friday, January 30, from 5-5:45 PM. Check out all of the great DDM events at DDXP, and look for us at the Community Draft on Saturday night!

DDM Original Edition (1.0) Update

DDM 1.0 retro-conversion efforts are being led by Bert the Troll. Most of the work and communications have centered on the Maxminis forums. The Guild membership has yet to decide on a process for official sanctioning of 1.0 retro-conversions.

DDM Revised Edition (2.0) Update

The WoTC-trained freelancers are still doing their freelance design thing. WotC remains committed to finishing the updates and releasing all sets by mid-year 2009. As some folks have finished their term of service, new reviewers have been invited into the set update process, and work on updating Aberrations has commenced, with Giants of Legend to follow in December. Blood War is now tournament-legal, and feedback has been largely positive. We hope to see published stat card updates for War of the Dragon Queen by December or January.

So this "heroes" set is all-visible and we get to choose only those that we want to use. No waste of money buying multiple boosters trying to get that sought-after mini. it was announced before that one of the non-random Huge minis is the Hive Mother, as in yung big mama ng mga Beholders. Define collector's item.

And knowing that ALL these minis will have official downloadable skirmish stats available by the time the sets are released makes me want to have them in my hands now na hehe!:laugh:

Kaya lang mas mahirap maghanap dito ng mga character like C.unt Dukot , Chupaka or Luke Gay Stalker. All I can think of right now is Bruenor Battle Joga and Wulfgay...ill think of more para masaya :classic: :rolleyes:

halos lahat ng minis ngayon ay naghihirap. pero with the proper people and support buhay pa din yan. Halos naman lahat ng players are still active in the tourney scene just tell them pag meron and most of them will be more than happy to join. Count me in na din pag may tourney sali din ako.

ELOU, cancel na yung order mong D&D right? Or tuloy pa rin ba?

May tourney pa ba kayo? Coz if none, there's no point to bring and give the Gargantuan Blue Dragon and Gargantuan Black away as prizes....

And I guess no need na rin sa maps?
