A few people have been enquiring about what 's happening with heroclix at Uh so I'm making this thread to keep people informed, aslong asI remember to keep it updated anyway. The next few events are as follows-

Sunday 21st September
12 pm start
Skrull scenario 3
300 point build, marvel only, No main tactics

Note i have a family engagement and will probably not be present but Simon should be there to run things in my abscence.

Sunday 5th October
12 pm
Secret invasion week 8
500 point unrestricted no feats, BFC's or special objects

Unlimited Hobbies is located at 94 Kildare road Blacktown for those who don't know, just a short walk from Blacktown train station and the Westpoint shopping center.

Is there a game on Sunday the 12th?

Draggor
10/09/2008, 20:44
Yes, sunday the 12th is the last of the Secret Invasion events
500 points restricted event
Elements from Marvel sets only
I'm having a few hassles at the moment, but I should make it this sunday, Simon will be there again to run things otherwise. *thanks Simon*
Next event is the Arkham asylum release event on the 26th, assuming we get stock in time for it.

How much will it be to play on the 26th?

Draggor
10/14/2008, 20:17
probably around $30 bucks for two boosters. Not sure how much we'll get charged from crofty this time with the conversion rate how bad it is now. But I'd say $30-$35

Sgt Grimes
10/14/2008, 22:08
Cool I'll be there.

What do we do if AA doesn't show up on time?

Draggor
10/23/2008, 06:00
Sadly it doesn't look like it's a case of if anymore Simon. I guess we'll have to do the same as previous sets and postpone the sealed portions till we have something to crack open. I think people are going to find it tough to justify paying $20+ a booster possibly, which it looks like AA will be. I can't get any for myself at the moment. Plus I'm still minus transportation anyway so whether i can make it to run is up in the air.

zero_cochrane
10/23/2008, 09:08
Unfortunately with the Australian dollar being where it is now, that's the kind of prices that we're going to pay for any imported entertainment products.

Are you folks still planning to attend this Sunday if the sealed doesn't go ahead? There's about three of us who are planning to drive out for a game. If there's no sealed should we bring 300 point teams or something?

I was thinking of donating my extra Arkham commons and uncommons to folks who are finding HeroClix to be hard on their budget right now. Heck, people could draft them.

twofacedgoblin
10/24/2008, 20:00
Yeah, I checked with Michael yesterday, and he hasn't got any AA yet. Why does this always happen? Does Crofty have something against us or something? ;)
I'll be there tomorrow. We could go 300 point teams - I'll bring a couple and figure out what I'll play when I get there.

Sgt Grimes
10/25/2008, 01:07
it looks like it 300 points.

Sgt Grimes

twofacedgoblin

Michael hasn't rung to say he's got AA yet, but the week is not yet over.
Kings were sold out when I went on Monday.

zero_cochrane
10/29/2008, 09:25
Good Games (Burwood) say in their newsletter that they'll have AA by Friday, so hopefully Croftminster is delivering this week.

Sgt Grimes
10/29/2008, 17:59
What a joke. Croftminster is waste of space.

twofacedgoblin
10/30/2008, 08:51
What a joke. Croftminster is waste of space.
True, true. Though Michael has told me he's spoken to Crofty, and they reckon ARKHAM and our long-awaited prize support should be coming soon. Now, whether that's 'soon' as in 'next week' or 'soon' as in 'when Joel Schumacher gets to direct another BATMAN film', who can say? The direct quote from Michael (and therefore, I presume, Crofty), was "Apparently its on the waters and they are expecting it anytime now."
Given that it looks relatively unlikely we'll have ARKHAM this Sunday, I propose we just have unrestricted 500-point teams. Might also be worth bringing enough dollars in case we do get lucky and have the boosters.

Sgt Grimes
10/30/2008, 18:06

twofacedgoblin
11/14/2008, 18:39
I tried calling Michael yesterday, had to leave a voicemail.
If they've got it, I guess we could do the sealed event from a few weeks ago. If not, the officially listed thing is for a restricted 300 point team. Do we want to do that, or do our own thing?

zero_cochrane
11/16/2008, 06:40
For folks who weren't able to make it, there was a sealed tournament today. Rachel came in first - the rest of us just didn't have teams able to deal with Wonder Woman plus the Question!

I regret not going......
Because you think you could take Diana?! :p

I thought I had a great team. The Flash with Scatter, Lyssa Drak with TK/Barrier/Perplex, and Per Degaton with Outwit/Probability Control and high defences.

But when I saw Rachel's team of the Question and Wonder Woman, I realised:
She had an Outwitter and a Perplexer, or two perplexers, depending on whichever was more useful;
Wonder Woman has a 12 AV, so doesn't need Probability Control, can one-hit KO any of my characters, and has Indomitable so she can chase them down;
If any of my three characters was KOd before I KOd Wonder Woman, I would almost certainly lose.
I did take out Question, but Wonder Woman was just too fierce.

Are you in for next Sunday? Simon said that he'd have the event description up here in a few days.

Sgt Grimes
11/17/2008, 04:11
I should be up for next sunday. I wanted to give a MTG tourney a go, but I found everyone had nearly the same decks. Made it really boring, and sideboard is a joke.

zero_cochrane
11/18/2008, 04:49
That's what killed A Game of Thrones tournaments for me a few years ago - most people played the same darn Lannister deck.

twofacedgoblin
11/20/2008, 03:51
Okay, folks, this week's fun and games:
600 points, all characters have to be wielding a weapon of some sort, be it a gun, a sword, or a bow and arrow. Fists don't count, and the weapon must be visible on the sculpt (no cheating and saying Batman's got batarangs in his utility belt). Unrestricted, of course.

Sgt Grimes
11/20/2008, 18:35
Do they all have to be weilding the same weapon?

twofacedgoblin
11/21/2008, 06:20

Nope - you can mix it up. Although I'm tempted to make it count a theme team if they all wield the same weapon...

twofacedgoblin
11/27/2008, 07:08
Okay, guys, as discussed on Sunday, this week's theme is 300 points, everyone brings an event dial or two to play. Whoever does not get to go first (ie: the person who goes second) gets to choose which event dial gets played.
I should warn you, I've very little idea how to use these event dials, but hey, they look like fun!

Draggor
11/29/2008, 06:57
I should warn you, I've very little idea how to use these event dials, but hey, they look like fun!

Meh, you're not the only one. ;) I should even be there tomorrow, baring some last minute disaster. A combination of some work issues, the slack treatment by crofty, wizkids being closed up and being addicted to City of Heroes has kinda left me very un enthusiastic about gaming lately. But i wanna rock up and see how things are going this weekend, bust out the figures for however much longer it lasts. Now who am i gonna find to dump my 1000's of doubles figures on if the game dies???

twofacedgoblin

Not I...
But I should be right for next week - the 15th.

twofacedgoblin
02/07/2009, 04:11
What should we be doing on the 15th?
I had an idea: 500pts, 4 actions per turn, all generic keywords that are occupations. Eg: Spy, Soldier, Scientist. What d' you reckon?

zero_cochrane
02/07/2009, 08:53
So everybody on the force needs to share an "occupational" keyword? But it doesn't necessarily need to meet the requirements of a thematic team?

For example, World's Finest would count (as either Detective or Reporter), but not be an actual thematic team as you'd need five Detectives or Reporters in a 500 point force.

zero_cochrane
02/08/2009, 04:09
Occupational keywords:
Celebrity (92)
Detective (83)
Police (114)
Politician (33)
Reporter (41)
Ruler (129)
Scientist (288)
Soldier (204)
Spy (124)
Warrior (221)
Herald (26) and Martial Artist (339) might be the subject of some debate, but I don't think they count as occupations; a martial artist has a specific set of skills, but could use those skills in a number of different occupations.

Yeah, pretty much. I'd imagine most teams would end up being thematic, but if World's Finest shows up, sure, bring it!
Herald would probably count too - it is what they do for a living (or to avoid dying, one or the other).

Mr_Nobody
02/09/2009, 07:46
Just to stir the pot a bit-
marvel and dc both have characters for whom diety is as much a profession as it is a specie.
I hear theres such things as professional psychics too.

just sayin.

of course Im probably bringing celebrities or police.

zero_cochrane
02/10/2009, 04:48
Psychic isn't something that I would have thought of, but I accept your point.

Deity, on the other hand... who makes a living as a deity?

Mr_Nobody
02/10/2009, 08:32
Storm was a professional diety.
hercules is basically one -not that he gets paid mind, but he treats deityin as more of a task than a sideeffect of existance. His brother Ares also acts like deityin is something one does actively, but more in a nobles oblige way so he doesn't count.
Ultimate thor is pretty close to being a professional deity too. he is a deity by nature, but "be a god" is essentially his mission statement in life, and he gets well fed, clothed and looked after for it- thats basically a job.
the other professional deities haven't got models.

02/11/2009, 21:50
Warrior (221)

I think if you're going to let Warrior be an occupation, then Martial Artist should be as well, as there's a lot more professional or semi-pro martial artists than there are warriors.

(Not arguing against Warriors, more arguing for MAs)

twofacedgoblin
03/06/2009, 03:48
Hey, dudes, sorry this is a bit late. It's been something of a nutty week. If I'm too late for this Sunday, let's make it next Sunday (the 15th).
500 pts, 4 actions per turn, time limit of 10 turns or 50 minutes (whichever comes first). You have two teams built - one Marvel, one DC (or I suppose you could do Indy if you want), but they both have to have non-generic keywords. The person who chooses the map chooses which team they use, and their opponent uses the opposite. For example, Player One chooses the map, then chooses their Gotham City team. Player Two, therefore, would play their X-Men team.
Let me know if it's too late to do this on Sunday the 8th - we'll move it till next week then.

zero_cochrane
03/07/2009, 01:09
Sounds fine to me. Maybe there should be a seperate roll to determine who chooses the team - because with thematic teams you may have two different bonuses to see who goes first.

Mr_Nobody
03/07/2009, 01:40
make it the 15th.
Dr Girlfriend and I (possibly also Zero?) have a friends birthday lunchy thing on tomorrow.

twofacedgoblin
03/07/2009, 07:49
The 15th it is, then.
Good idea with the separate roll, too - last time I did this sort of thing, there were no theme bonuses, so it didn't matter.

twofacedgoblin

03/14/2009, 07:11
Sorry, guys, I tried calling UH this arvo - it rang for a bit, then had a voicemail saying "Thanks for calling. Our office is closed now. Please call back later."
I may try and do a drive-by at some stage to see how bad it looks, and keep it up till I find out when they're reopening. Until then...we have no venue.

zero_cochrane
08/28/2009, 10:43
Did Unlimited Hobbies ever reopen?

twofacedgoblin
09/12/2009, 22:33
I think UH has reopened, but I'm afraid I've not had time to give Michael a call to see if he's happy to host Clix there again.
In fact, it looks like I won't be able to do anything about this till next year, at the earliest. I've just been told I'll have to move by the end of the year, and I'll have to find a new house (looking to buy - can't see the point of renting unless I have to). That's going to take up the majority of my free time, unfortunately, so I probably won't be able to do anything with Clix till next year. My greatest apologies, guys - I've been looking forward to getting back into it, but real life just keeps intruding.

Hmmm this is almost necroing a thread but we're back!! Due to various reasons and set backs, for me and the store, some of which are well known it has taken a while to get things moveing and happening with Heroclix again, apart from the occasional game. Next official day we're going to try and hit is 1st of May then roughly every 2 weeks there after. There is some good news and bad news

Good
I have kept up with sets and the all the updates apart from a few things i didn't buy like Watchmen and Jonah Hex so i have most of the new figures to use and some trades.
The timeing on the new rulebook/pac is good so we will be useing these
MY thinkeing at least initially is to keeep things casual and loose for the first little while. No wild hard to build to restrictions or scenerios, no large point teams and no sealed games. Basically because we hope to get new and old players included. Just run a lot of fun games, get up to speed with all the intricacies again and dust off as many figures as possible.

The Bad
Limited stock. Currently Mike is haveing trouble organiseing distributers to receive heroclix at the store so there's nothing new on the shelves. The hope is obviously to remedy this. So don't plan to stock up just yet.
No new prize support. This ties into the first part. While we have no new prize support we have a pretty big stockpile from before, which for newer players may be just as good regardless and i have my own things to contribute. Ebaying prize packs is also an option, if expensive. Really we just want to get playing first then see about prizes again.

This will be a 600 pt comic accurate team (has to be a group you see in the comics working together)

Feats are allowed and so are ATA's

Bring it on guys show your creative and selective resources for what versions of the teams you want to play as any version of the characters are accepted.

Given the type of game if they don't share the same keyword they will be treated as if they do.

Been thinking of a few theme ideas, leave them here and see what people think. Also wondering about peoples thoughts on which 'age' they'd prefer as standard? Gold, modern, silver? Silver being all figures but cardboard restricted. I prefer silver only cause i'm lazy and feats are one less thing to worry about and less complications. Special objects, ATA's and event dials would still be allowed under whichever format. But some possible ideas for next few weeks-
God amongst men- In honour of the Thor movie. 400 points, at least one figure must be a diety. This value meaning most dietys would be the center piece of the team, as they should be.
Aliens amongst us- and greenlantern gets some love. 500 points all aliens. Bigger points for those big cost cosmic characters to come out and play.
Then perhaps some days around specific keywords, generic or otherwise. So a day everyones martial artists, then another one soldiers and so on.

Incarnate
06/07/2011, 03:15
I like the idea of Silver age although i still love my feats as it make strategy come into play more as even new characters (that have had their bases committed to memory by the experianced players) would still have a surprise or new way of playing them but im sure we can work on house rules like a limit to how many feats can be used .. Maybe in proportion to theme team probability for each theme team prob u have you allowed to equip 1 feat.

As for basing things around a generic theme its good but also bad for the less collected players. I remember jumping back into the game after not playing for a while and having not even a single theme team worth 500 or more that was worth playing. I Do however like the idea of introducing a Theme base like your God amongst them suggestion. Make it so that you have to have a certain character of a certain non generic (but still common enough) keyword that need to be in the team. This leaves it open for theme teams which share other keywords with that character and may not necessarily be that one.

But im happy to do really whatever im always open to suggestions and challenges so really whatever most people decide is good then im cool with it .

Draggor
06/08/2011, 00:52
Yeah some things to think about, that's why i'm tossing ideas up here. Yeah the looser themes or restrictions, rather than one keyword are probably best for people with smaller collections. Not just stick to keywords and keep mixing up the age depending on the event. Other possibles- One man army(however we do that, half the build at least one figure or something), Adventurers (one tank/brick, one mage/ranged figure, one rogue/stealther, one support/healer.), team on a budget (commons or rookies only), everyones equal (every figure on team same cost, possibly 300 point build best), Battle of the sexes (self explanatory), mere mortals (all figures <75).

I'm all for shaking it up every now and again - makes us think more creatively!

Draggor
06/17/2011, 09:06
Ok by a vote (of both of us there on sunday)
26th June God amongst Men
600 points at least one figure has the diety keyword, golden age rules. Theme team rerolls can always be used on your diety(s) no restrictions and a token isn't required to be placed on one of your figures. Normal theme team rules and number of rerolls apply.

Bring your best uniformed military types for 600 point teams. Teams built around a common military or official theme in honour of the star spangled avenger himself. Green lanterns, soldiers, police ,checkmate, everyone with a military rank. Even enemys like hydra. All are possible options.
and in case we have small turn out and time for more bring your best alien invaders. 400 points, at least one non earthling.

Sunday the 7th

600 point Non-Theme Team.

The theme is 600 points with no Named keywords in common. It will allow for only 2 characters to share a generic keyword but no more then 2 of that generic keyword can be present.

It'll be good to see what mix of character people will bring together.

Sorry i missed sunday, stuff came up and couldn't get there early enough. Hope it went ok. Can you explain this better? so no non generic keywords in common at all across 600 points? and what's about generics? could you have 2 ninjas, 2 warriors for example? hmmm getting 600 points nothing in common is tricky. Eliminates a lot of figures with multiple keywords.

Incarnate
07/29/2011, 10:04
Yeh no more then 2 generic keywords can be the same in the team so only 2 ninjas anyone else after those 2 with the ninja keyword cant be used

Sunday the 21st of August

Power Tax Breaks!!

Basically the idea is simple its a 600 pt team build and you have to have 4 characters only.. the catch? what makes you think there's a catch? OK you got me so there is Each character has to fall within a point cap.
1 character between 1-50 points
1 character between 51-100 points
1 character between 101-150 points &
1 character between 151-200 points.
Their base points have to fall between these barriers and if you want feats these also cant put the total points of characters above these brackets..
ATA point values and Special objects can be the exception.

If we don't have many turn outs and have more Time we can also do one more scenario with a similar theme called :

My those are big ... guns you have.

Basically its a 650 point game (theme team if you have all 3 characters sharing a named keyword generics don't count)
the brackets will be
1 Character between 101-150
1 character between 151-200 &
1 character between 201-300
same conditions are the previous ones with feats ata's and special objects

I wont be there this Sunday due to it being fathers day but for those shwing up it was decided a 600 point build using only keyword characters that have a keyword that could classify as a job e.g.
Ruler
Scientist
Martial Artist
Spy
...etc

Anyone plan on showing up this weekend apart from me?

twofacedgoblin
09/07/2011, 08:58
Hey, dudes, since there were only two of us on Sunday, we decided the theme for the 18th will be non-generic keywords, 800 points. So bring out the Avengers, Justice League, whatever - big guns and all!
Just so the games don't go forever, we may end up limiting the actions per turn to 4 or 6, but let's see how we go.

Sorry i missed it. I spent fathers day with the family as well. I was going to be there this weekend but found out now i have to work, being nrl grandfinal day, so i'll have to see if i can make it in for a while before then now. Sounds a good team idea though.

twofacedgoblin
09/28/2011, 09:39
Just had a thought - we had a bloke come in last time with his collection, and the newest figure he had was from FANTASTIC FORCES. If he shows again, might be an idea to have a smaller team ready to go in addition to the 800-pointer, as it's kinda tough trying to build a decent large team with some of the older pieces.

ZZerop
09/28/2011, 21:10
How about we all come with

1-2 teams of Non-generic keywords 800 points team for long games and also

Theme team 300 point with all clix having attack <= 9 and defense <= 16.
I stole this idea from an event they ran at Burwood last weekend.

This will solve the problem for the guy with the older sets and also if others are busy and can only drop by for a short period of time we can have a smaller quick games.

Draggor
09/28/2011, 23:03
or a 300 point no special powers team, more unbalancing for older teams than high values.

ZZerop
09/30/2011, 02:47
No Special Powers is probably a better idea except I'm not sure everyone would have enough old clix to build a team.

Either way - We'll just bring a 800 point team and a 300 not stupidly overpowered team and see what we come with on the day.

Cyas there

Sunday 16th

300 old school -
No Feats - No Defense above 16 on their first 3 clicks.

This will give some old figures some good play as their atk is a little lower then recent figures.

Another Build we can play is 500 pt team Fearsome 4
Basically 500 points 4 characters 1 Feat at most Bring on the fear!

I'm happy for other suggestions but since no one has posted in over a week I thought id throw one up :)

(all things considered bring both teams so we can all have fun even those with older clix)

That sucks. Know how that is, sorry you got stuck waiting too. I've been trying to make it but was working a lot and lately the games days i've been looking after my nephew and can't make it. Thanks for sorting out some themes lately. Different ideas from different people is good. Getting lots of new clix soon i'd be dieing to try out. How about we do a 600 point build Golden Age (all clix) to start off our unoffical proper tournaments and ill bring everything we need maps rules spare figures team sheets and if we get a solid turn out we may even convince mike to start ordering enough stock to get OP kits
