Yeah it was a joke anyways since this is my week to work. Im not like some people, you know who you are, that think about how many V Icon Superman they can fit within the point total every time.

Well, with a somewhat heavy heart. I'm not going for the big match. The wife is calling a family night. And truthfully, 2000 points is waaay too much. I think my limit is 1400. Ah well, lets prep for the next week. That is, if my wife doesnt go into labor.

Have fun at family night and next week just tell her to try an hold it until around 10 that night and you should be able to make it :)

Do you know what we are running next week? The judge and someone else said something about a 200 point game but WK says unrestricted 500. Anyone know for sure?

I meant this Sat just past. Oct 11, 2008. I just found out that this Sat coming is 800 points same universe unrestricted. I would assume that same universe means everything you build has to be either DC, Marvel, or Indy.

You did not miss much. When we got there it was announced that you could not use Special Powers or traits so most people had to rebuild or use figures that were nerfed. Then I asked how many actions and oh yeah actions will be decided by a single die roll each round. That was not so bad except Brian was running Big G. When i played him i had two actions so I would move he would blast and no one would get close. With some TK the Kinetic Accelerator and V Icon Superman I did manage to get the only hit on G the entire night which he was able to roll out of. All the other matches were fine with limited actions, but Big G does not need the added bonus limited actions and no special powers.

On a side note I bought GreenScars Collection :)

Also who is Ultim8 Avenger?

No, I was stationed there for 4 years, I used to work in the tower on base. I got stationed in tampa, but my Ex-wife and son live there still, so I come to visit whenever I can. I won't be back by there for a while, I'm about to be deployed for 6 months, but I'm planning a visit sometime in june/july when I get back.

So what did everyone say about me? If you don't mind me asking? I had to leave early that night because my friends were waiting for my girlfriend and I to meet them for hibachi at bonzai I think the place was called.

Add points as needed. Like Stunning blow on Riddler. But having Protect on Hitman might be a must as well. The GCD's tag along with Hitman and add to his already disgusted-ness. I played them last night at the 250 mark and did fairly well. Oh, and Man-Bat Assasain does NOT have the Gotham City Keyword. Find someelse to taxi Riddler around. Like Firefly.

When your case comes in if you pull a Sinestro Batman and want to trade let me know :)

Anyone else not very impressed with this set? The last few sets had must have rares and super rares but this one just does not seem to stack up in my eyes.

I like this set more than I thought I would. There is a lot of team synergy, and the scads of outwit and perplex makes special powers not so game breaking. Lots of useful low cost figs makes for interesting teams over all. I cant wait to field a full Sinestro Corps.

Hey guys this is Justin. Over the past few weeks we have had a weak turnout on Saturday nights and I just wanted to encourage you guys to come out this week. That being said this week is the night where we are supposed to take a picture of us playing Heroclix and sending it to Pinata Games so we need ya'll to be there and for someone to bring a camera. There is a free feat and Crispus Allen is the prize. It is going to be a 500pt unrestricted game with no cardboard or objects. over the past couple of weeks it has just been me, robby and Brian so I'm looking forward to seeing and playing against you guys. I am going to tell you my default team that I will probably play with unless I find something better.

Okay, for all of you who did not come out, you missed a fun fun night. I got to meet a couple of new guys, battle a Superman Prime (the dude is a beast!!!) and Gordon gave each one of us an AA booster, which is when the youngest and newest clixer pulled the Lamp-Post Bats, which Jose traded his spleen and left kidney for. Jose was weak from the blood loss, but still happy about the results.

It was a lot of fun!

For those who don't know this week 1/17 you need to bring two 600pt teams to play against a colossal (More than likely it will be Galactus). He said that there may be enough players or there may not be so bring two teams and plenty of Monster Hunter feats. I'm not sure if it is restricted or not and unfortunately I will not be there.

I dont think you have taken a good look at Prime! For this argument we will give Superman First strike and nobody makes Impervious rolls. Primes Invincible SP means he can give up first strike and only take one damage! He will still have HS so he can fly over and hit for 4 and after 2 gets through Superman is on his last HS click. Since Prime is Indomitable and will attack again Superman will have to push off of it, leaving him 0 move and attack options. So after reducers Prime will be on his Charge Penetrating Flurry click and when this is combined with Indomitable he is guarantied the next attack. Two shots of penetrating Flurry take the last 8 clicks Superman has and gives Prime the win. Even if Prime did not stalk Superman and just based him Superman would knock Prime onto a Hypersonic click and it would still be game over.

Since we just assuming all attack rolls were made the AV should be pointed out.

Primes goes two 11s, three 12s, two 11s again, a 10 and two 9s.
Superman goes 12, two 11s, two 10s, two 9s, two 8s, and two 7s.

Primes AV stays pretty steady, 3pt between high/low, but Supermans AV really drops off, 5pt between high/low, so it really comes down to lucky rolls in the end.

Defensively Superman can not get around Primes upfront Invincible click, not to mention the two more mid dial, or his Indomitable ability that allows him to take no pushing damage.

This was a best case scenario where Superman got first strike and every one made their attack rolls. As strange as it sounds Supermans lack of mobility seals the deal. Prime has a move and attack ability every click so once he knocks Superman off HS he just has to stalk until the situation is right to steal momentum.

I think that the general consensus is the lack of use feats and just a heads up battle. Also when comes to him battling prime the likely hood of him winning is doubtful even with feats. Prime has hypersonic and indomitable Which would mean if you are playing against someone who knew what they were doing they would get the first attack. Again if they knew what they were doing they would range you and stay away from your charge flurry stuff. So if they hit they would knock you into your hypersonic speed and you attacked and hit you would only do one since that is his damage reducing power. Then he could attack you for 6 since he has both close combat and ranged combat expert. Then he would have another turn of that unless you pushed. Needless to say I think even with feats prime has you beat. Is KC chase a Colossal slayer maybe, but definitely not a Prime slayer.

Your odds are better against E2 but still unlikely. He doesn't take pushing damage like prime and he has a free action close combat attack so if you based him your done because he can attack you every turn. If you didn't base him he would range you while hiding in hindering terrain for an added bonus defense and would be able to see through it himself due to the Superman Team ability that your Supes does not have. E2 would have a field day with those defense numbers that are 17 and 16 on every click but his first. Plus E2 defense is ridiculous rising up to a twenty. I do think that the KC chase Supes is worth its points, but I don't think it can stand up against prime or E2 even if you can match them with feats. Unless there is a feat that can give you outwit, which ICWO is the only one that can possibly give you outwit but that means you would have to have a 3 person force and not be heads up.

Lastly, who are you? Do you play at our venue? Sadly I won't be there this week

KC is an amazing figure but he would be destroyed without getting a single hit in! Prime would never have to stop within KC 6 square charge range. KC can also never base Prime because of the Hypersonic so he has no way to pin him down.

In a game that is decided by random factors you have to have a way to evaluate them objectively. The perfect hit offense and always miss defense works pretty good.

Head to head I agree with you, but when you can build a team around him, starting with TK, he really shines at only 238 points.

If you coupled him with a TK'er and even a couple of Gotham City PD, you might be right. Especially if you also had a mind controller with Compel. But one-on-one? I think Prime would out-action Thanos and defeat him.

OK so Thanos does have psychic blast, but he doesn't have move and attack. That is his downfall. So any good player playing Prime is going to get the first strike regardless of whether you outwit HSS or not. You would have to waste outwit on his defense power because you don't have penetrating damage (Psychic Blast) anymore and if you hit you knock him into his charge/flurry/penetrating damage click and then your done. Off course this is really relying on the fact that every attack hits and you don't get your impervious rolls.

Justin had a good breakdown of what happens when Prime bases, but here are a few other scenarios.

Prime will get the first strike, and move behind blocking, every time and knock Thanos off of his first two PB clicks and put him on his last OW click with, most importantly, an 8 movement. The game is now over because with an 8 movement Thanos will not be able to base Prime or get LOS since Prime is behind Blocking. Prime will then knock Thanos off of his last OW click and with no way to stop HSS Thanos will be picked apart.

If Thanos could get into OW Range and uses it on Primes HSS, like you are suggesting, then his damage would be reduced to 1. Prime will then blast Thanos for 6 with RCE. Thanos then PB for 3. Prime does not have to do anything special, and a 4 damage ranged attack will finish Thanos off.

That's what I was thinking, Torp. On a map like Secret Invasion Crash site or the Arkham map, there is so much blocking terrain, Prime is going to be able to stay out of Thanos' LOS. If the Prime mover(!) pays attention and always keeps an eye toward token counts, I think Thanos will go down.

Which is why we need to go full throttle on the Theme Team Rules and start bringing our own maps to maximize our legalized cheesy.

who'd be dumb enough to play one on one with a figure whose point cost exceeds that of the other player? if prime was to play against thanos or even kc supes with equal point cost, 7 times out of 10, prime would lose against cheap tk (grey), cheap prob (scarlet), and cheap perplex (cons).

A Man Reborn? It resembles a little feat you may know as WARBOUND! Overall it is not as good as warbound, but a few things make it better. First he does not have a half point restriction. This is not a big deal when you think of traditional WB figures like Shazam or Tomar, but when you want a bigger guy Nigma is for you.

Great Clix players of Abilene,

As most of you know our venue owner, Gordon, is going throw a hard time. His daughter is sick and isn't getting better. He has to pay around $3,000 a month on medications. He and his wife have both taken on second jobs to try to pay for the medical costs. Gordon has always taken care of us and we think it's time to help him.

Bigdaddyhub and I have thought of a Clix event to help Gordon have an event titled "Challenge of the Super-friends: Clix for the cause." Here is the idea we would hold a tournament that would be a 400pt sealed. You would by three boosters for about 33 bucks. We would charge a dollar for to give a character prob control.

We were looking to have some cool figures be prizes for people, which would draw more attention. Maybe some of us could donate them or we could pitch in and get some. Maybe we could have a chase or Colossal be the prize for the winner and have some sweet pieces (KC pieces, Doomsday, Sinestro) go to like the first critical hit, The most Critical misses and of course fellowship. Ideally we would want to have 18-20 people show. That would mean that we be looking to pick up old players, new players and the regulars. We would like to pick up the bleach guys who play clix as well. Basically we want to make it so it doesn't matter if you play clix or not all that really matters is that we are all doing this to help Gordon and his family. Plus to give everyone a chance to win something cool.

What do you guys think?
What are some more ways to raise money for Gordon?
Is there a better format?
What are some ways to get figure that people could win?
What are some other ways people could win prizes?

Wow I had no idea all of this was going on!

I would suggest having either a Batman Chase, Superman Chase, or Galactus. As for secondary prizes if I remember correctly Gordan has a few decent SR in his case, that we could buy from him and not only have prizes, but also contribute even more to the store. As far as contributing to the store goes we could buy his Galactus for the big prize instead of a chase. If we do not have enough support to buy the secondary prizes we need to hit up the locals for figure donations to the prize pool.

If we do go with a chase I did a search on completed Ebay auctions and it seems Superman/Batman are going from $80-$60 and Origin/SI are in the $40-$50 range.

When we do decide on the prizes and come up with a total it would be nice if we could convince Robbie to have his Mom pay for it so we just have to come up with the buy in :) If that does not work out then we need to see who out of current players would be willing to split the cost, or at least split it up to a certain amount like $20.

If we set this up we should give it a month so Gordan can post some info in his store and hopefully get the attention of former players and people who come in and buy HC but never come to the events. It will also give us time to track down the prizes and some people time to save up for the entry fee. Also if you make it on my weekend then you have the bonus of me and Troy :)

On the 3 boosters I would suggest that people get to buy any 3 boosters they want so they will not ripped off if they are forced to buy certain sets and get nothing they want. It will really mix things up and this way if they get nothing good it is their own fault :)

It would also be great if they announce when the new set is coming out pretty soon to have people excited about playing a resurrected game for a great cause.

Another idea my girlfriend had would be a raffle on the side. This would give everyone, even those who aren't playing, a chance to win something we could have a lot of LE's, BITB's and SR's (I know I have a lot of LE's that I never use that I would be willing to donate.) This would also bring more people into the store giving him a chance to have good business.

I like the Galactus idea. Who wouldn't want one?

I am visiting with Gordon about it and I shot the idea across to him. I don't want to scare him off because I know it could be offputting to make yourself the center of attention.

I completely agree with the "any booster" idea. We shouldn't force people to buy from just one set.

As of now, there aren't enough boosters at the shop to support this, but he will let me know if he can gets some more at a cheap price. Let's let Gordon respond to me and then we will work on coordinating a date and time.

In the meantime, everyone keep a sharp lookout for really really good deals for chases/galacti. If we get the nod, I will set up a thread on the general site for people who want to sell at a bargain rate for us. If we can't find a cheap galactus, I will be willing to pitch mine in for the cause.

It would be nice if we could get some of the Bleach players who formerly played HC to commit to it so we would have more of an idea on how many may show up. I think the fact that it is sealed should get people interested since every one is on the same playing field with random figures and it is more about skill then the depth of your collection.

We would have to do something since we are pressed for time already. As far as a day that would depend on how many people show up, how many rounds, and how many make the top cut.

I looked up the official tournament rules and here is what I found

1.3.1 Rounds
HeroClix tournaments typically consist of three or four rounds of Swiss pairings. The number of rounds must be announced by the judge at the beginning of each tournament. See the How to Run Swiss Rounds document at http://www.wizkidsgames.com/documents/HowToRunSwissRounds.pdf to learn how to run Swiss rounds. Each HeroClix tournament must consist of a minimum of three full 50-minute rounds. For specific events, single-elimination championship rounds might be required after the conclusion of Swiss rounds. Venues and envoys will be notified of this in advance. Championship rounds can be used in sanctioned tournaments where they are not required at the discretion of the venue and judge, providing all players are informed before the tournament begins.

1.3.5 Timekeeping
HeroClix rounds last 50 minutes each. The judge running the event should announce the time remaining in the round twice during the match: once with between 20 and 30 minutes remaining in the round, and once with between three and seven minutes remaining in the round. Once time is called, the game ends as soon as the current player finishes his or her current action. That player does not get to use any additional actions that he or she might have had that turn. At its discretion, WizKids can allow judges to run special events with different time limits. Due to potential venue restrictions, judges are never required to run rounds longer than 50 minutes, but if they choose to do so when allowed, they must announce it before the tournament begins.

Determining the winner.
If only one player has surviving characters (characters not defeated) at the end of the game, that player is the winner. Otherwise, at the end of the game all players count their victory points (see below). Whoever scores the most victory points wins the game. If two players played as an allied team, their points are added together. If there is a tie in victory points, all tied players roll 2d6 and the player with the highest total result wins.

The week before last two players had a tie at 0 points, but someones point bulid was less so they got the win. When I had a tie they were going to give the victory to the person that had the lowest point build, except we had the same point build. Then they were going to give it to the person who KO the most figures, except we both got 2. Finally they gave him the victory because he had KO the figure worth the most points

I was thinking we do top four and award the top four players with prizes. The winner of the championship would get first pick. The loser of the championship would get second pick. And the 3rd & 4th would be determined by points. No ties in the final rounds.
If we have enough prize support it would be real cool to a bottom four (5th-8th place) that way we could still raise money from dollar probs. And it would encourage more players because you could still win something.

I think we should limit the rounds to 40 minutes and have four rounds. This would help the game go faster but you would have more play time. We have to realize we are asking them to pay about 33 bucks to play and we need to make it worth their while to do so. I think 4 rounds with a top four and a bottom four would make that happen. Now could we actually get the prize support for all this is another question. What do you guys think? Feel free to critique!

How many prizes are we talking about anyways?

I think the best case scenario is having the regulars donate a certain amount of money to go to the purchase of Galactus or a Superman/Batman chase and then have the regulars each donate a $15-$20 figure , or higher if they want, to the prize pool. Now with all of that said I dont know the financial situations of everyone, or how they would feel about donating one of their better figures so a few people will have to end up giving a little more in the end. I would also suggest having the donations sooner rather then later, so its not like people are having to put out say $20 to buying Galactus and $33 for the tournament for a total of $53 in two weeks.

This is my weekend to work so let me know what the other players think and if you guys were able to decide anything.

I also think we could start doing Drafts once a month to mix things up and also to put some money into the store from our group. For those not familiar with Draft it is like sealed except it only requires one booster per player. I dont think one booster per month is going to kill anyone :) Now unlike sealed you only get to pick one figure out of your pack before you pass it on, you will then pick one figure out of the pack that is passed to you and so on until the figures are all gone. You then create your force out of what ever figures you managed to get. It is alot of fun and unlike sealed you really cant be screwed over by bad packs.

When I played Magic it was my favorite format. Every week it seemed like you only went up against net decks, but when it came to draft alot of those guys did not have the real skill to compete. I have never done a HC Draft and only 1 Sealed event, but left it feeling that luck was more involved in the process then anything else.

If you check out the Comprehensive Tournament Rules (http://www.hcrealms.com/docs/heroclix_official/HeroClixTournRules_022008.pdf) it has rules for Draft and also Battle Royal Draft that sounds interesting also.

I was playing with guys in the DFW who travel all over the state, country, and world to qualify and compete in the biggest tournaments. Just because you know how to draft does not make you a good draft player. They were more comfortable finding a deck on the internet that plays itself, then having to build a deck on the spot, out of mostly subpar cards, and when they lost let you know that they were a much better plaer then you and only lost for (insert random reason) and not because you were better then them. It got old showing up every week and seeing 75% net decks and 25% anti net decks that are also net decks. I think this super competitive environment really burned me out on Magic

Anyways would you be interested in a semi regular draft Scar?

A former player wanted to know if we were running any sealed, because he would like to play, and The Judge told him we would not run any unless HC comes back and makes us. Maybe he will feel differently since this only takes one booster though. Do you want to ask him about it for next week?

Maybe we can talk about doing a draft with him. BTW- on a draft, how many boosters do you buy and who keeps the figs you pull?

On a draft each player buys one booster. Each player opens their booster, picks only one figure, and then passes. You do this until all of the figures are gone. You can do the figures two different ways at the end. One way you keep whatever you pull and have to provide some sort of prize support. With this method though you have the possibility of rare drafting where someone might decide to pull every rare and Sr that is passed to them instead of building a competitive team. Another way is to take every figure at the end and put into a pool where they are again drafted from first to last place until they are all gone. They become the prize and prevent rare drafting. Of course you can end up with some hurt feelings if someone pulls a chase or top SR and has to give it up in the end.

Personally I prefer the second option. During my Magic days I have seen plenty of people take every rare and foil that they were passed and go 0-2 or 3 and drop. They used it as a way to buy a small amount of boosters and leave with a much greater value in product.

Either way people need to know how it is going to work before they decide to play to avoid any hard feelings later

Hub is right! FCBD we all need to be there. I propose this unrestricted game:

every player makes
-300 pt team
-400 pt team
-500 pt team
-600 pt team

There will be three rounds in it the judge will roll a d6 on a result of 1 or 2 we will play the 400 pt team. On a roll of 3/4 we will play the 500 pt team. On a roll of 5/6 we will play the 600 pt team. the final two will then play their 300 pt team.

4 BFC's can be held and used. You can only theme team proxy a BFC if all four of your teams are theme teams.

What do ya'll think? If Nick doesn't want to judge because of that new card game they are playing I could do it since there is no Wizkids around anymore.

As for prize support there are still plenty of prizes at our venue. Gordon has been dipping into his box-o-treasure lately. Last week I had my pick from SOS, HOG's, judges LE's, and BIBTB's. I ended up taking the Tsunami relief Hulk.

That's usually a judge's call. If a player seems to be sandbagging it. A player can call the judge over to watch. Which funnily enough, usually gets things moving.

BATTLE ROYALES

A staple of WizKids events for years, this quick play event continues. As soon as 8 people are signed up, the event is ready to go. Eight folks are split into two groups of 4 people. Each person opens their Hammer of Thor or The Brave and the Bold booster, picks a piece and passes the rest. Each player teams up with the person next to them and battles it out against the opposing team. The first round ends as soon as one player has lost all of their figures. The winning teams face off, but no healing takes place between rounds. In round 2, once a player has been eliminated, the remaining 3 players face off head to head. Last player standing is then declared the winner!

No. From the player's guide:

The following feat cards are banned as they have been replaced by an Alternate Team Ability card: Alpha Flight, Amazon, Checkmate, Fantastic Four, Green Lantern, Guardians of the Galaxy, Justice League International, League of Assassins, Legionnaires, Monster Society of Evil, Runaways, The Society, Squadron Supreme, and Thunderbolts.

Essentially, those feats no longer exist. Period.

Your venue can feel free to house rule, if you like, but I can gaurantee you they won't be used as feats in any official Golden Age event at GenCon.
