Mafia Invitational - A Grand Social Experiment

Game Start Date: 10/13/08 or 10/20/08

NOTE: This is not a sign-up thread. This is a place to keep track of players. The idea behind this game was to experiment with an "invitational" system where all the players are old veterans, well-recognized, and big target magnets. How will the targeting work out when you throw them all together into a game? It's like the Dream Team...you put a group of Individuals together and see if they can make a Team.

Please don't be offended if you aren't sent an invitation. As stated above, there were hard decisions that needed to be made. Players were selected based on these 5 criteria, in order of importance from 1 to 5.

1) Number of games played/length of time at the HCRealms.
2) Activity and participation in games (taking into account recent trends as well)
3) Propensity for Night 1 (or extremely early) deaths.
4) Number of wins.
5) Mod experience.

For the sake of interesting game-play get_1 should bring in a non-all-star, like myself to sacrifice on the first night. Then at least all of the hallowed veterans can at least have two game days to play before any of them get off'd. I would be honored to take the first night bullet for any of the experienced players involved. I've taken that bullet for much less important reasons.

Let me tell you, I had a tough time deciding on selection criteria. I chose to do it this way for many different reasons, not the least of which was that it made the selection easier and more objective.


Invitations go out starting at noon tomorrow. The masses should wait with bated breath. :cheeky:

Either way, I'll be watching the game. My money's on Rokk Krinn or Malakim2099 for the first night death. Not trying to be negative here, just going with the law of averages.

Rokk_Krinn doesn't die on first night any more...(early in his mafia career - no doubt.) Now he's routinely doctored or tracked. As much as malakim2099 #####es about it he almost never dies first night either.

I was just curious to see how I thought I stacked up!

1) I've played in a good number of games. 15-20. Though, if we're dividing it by the time I've been a Realms member I'm screwed, as I didn't discover Mafia until a few moths ago.

2) I'm pretty active, especially when I think I have something or I'm really into the source material.

3) I have this down! I think I was N1 killed 4 games in a row at one point!

4) I don't win that much... though I do have a SK, Mafia, and Town win all under my belt.

5) I've modded two games. One was good, but unbalanced. The second one was better all around! Took some advice from Charles on that score. The third game will be AMAZING if people would sign up for it :)

Not that I really expect an invitation, but I do plan on reading this bad boy.

The last time I tracked the numbers for night one death (back in February). The leading person to die...no one.

That's right. No one for various amounts of reasons did not die on night one.

Next was a tie at 9 between Rokk and Antipathy

That was current up until London By Lamplight Mafia.

Unfortunately I don't have the time, or as was the case in February the requisite boredom, to do another tabulation.

Though If I remember correctly Antipathy should have had another one added because he died night one in Something Else 2.

And about AGoT...I'm not real crushed. I was just doing it as a favor so the mod could raise his numbers. Beyond that, I overstepped in my play because I thought I was invincible (but we'll talk about that after the game is done. You'll be shocked by something, I guarantee it).

The firt game had no winners in my eyes as neither I nor JacinB met our win conditions. And the mod thing falls under option 5. :laugh: My number of games played is low compared to many others due to my being choosey, and my number of wins was 0 until Runaways. I more see myself as someone who stuck around long, but didn't really blaze any trails or anything. Still, I'm honored to have people think I have skills.

The point of this game isn't to win. It's an expositionary game for people to see what will happen when everyone is a top-tier target magnet (as well as player).

To anyone who wants to know why they weren't included: please PM me and ask. There was a lot of consideration on my part as well as behind-the-scenes discusson. There is at least one good reason (if not more) to why you weren't invited.

I barely even remember what that was for, save that it was something Kalel was doing and we were up against Team Chicken Livered.

That was a game where I think we were bandits, and if people agreed to work together they got a bonus. The more people working together as a group, the better their chances of moving on to the next stage. I pm'ed a bunch of people and got my own group together. But you and I think Iron Ham decided to form your own group, aka Team Blackjack Hooker.

That was a game where I think we were bandits, and if people agreed to work together they got a bonus. The more people working together as a group, the better their chances of moving on to the next stage. I pm'ed a bunch of people and got my own group together. But you and I think Iron Ham decided to form your own group, aka Team Blackjack Hooker.

I have to say, I'm somewhat dissapointed. I mean, after all... I ran the first Mafia game on these forums. And I believe the second as well, tho I might be wrong about that. I'm the reason so many people here have wasted so many hours of their lives trying to lie, backstab, and betray their former friends and fellow hobbyists. If not for me, there wouldn't be HCRealms Mafia!

It was a great team, which is what led to my defection before the first challenge. Of course, I managed to hit the incredibly small chance of dying on the first task, as I recall, but it was a good run.
