So, our next film, Classic or Crud, Hit or Miss, what say you ALL?

Our next film open for discussion (the next from our latest Sequel Section on RtM), and ultimately an Overall RATING by you all:

HIGHLANDER 2: THE QUICKENING
WXYS5BtZp3w

Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.

Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.

So, what say you all?

Next Film: ??????

OK, I saw this movie when it first came out in theaters without seeing the original. My GF and I enjoyed it. Then I saw the first one, and in that context, it was in poor context. I would suggest looking at HL2 and "The Ultimates" version of the story, without trying to tie it to the first one, except as a retelling of the original characters.

So what would you give this film on a scale of 1 (worst) to 10 (best)?

Are we talking the original theatric release or the DVD edition as the director intended it to be? And I know this isn't one of those "oh, yeah, this is what I really meant to do - this isn't just to make more money" releases because 3/4 of the preview scenes we saw before the movie was released weren't in the movie  But lo and behold, they were there in the DVD...

I think well go with the actual theatrical version of this film (which I agree, is supposed to be a good deal different, and worse, than the DVD cut that came out later).

I do hope we actually get some official ratings here, as I myself have never seen this movie in full before. :p

I'm just trying to remember how badly it made my eyes bleed and just how much it made the angels weep.

Ugh.

This is one of the worst movies ever. I'm talking "Star Trek V" bad here. The director's cut made it only slightly less bad, but still I'm glad that the third movie made it so this one never happens. Still, there were some cool looking moments in the movie, but they don't save it.

As for a score? 1.5 out of 10(and that's being generous, as it's always nice to see Sean Connery)

1/10 For real, this movie is horrible and takes a really fun movie, burns it and pee pee's on the ashes by taking everything that was good about it and throwing it out the window by trying to be Blade Runnery.

The recut is much much better but its still not a great movie. It still amazes me that they were able to still make more movies after this abortion, let alone a TV show.

good movie !!

it starts as McCloud is a mortal old man (whom invented a giant shield that prevents harmfull sun/radiation-rays.... sounds familiar ?! from destroying the people of Earth). another planet full of "Highlanders" where they where exiled from sending 2 silly assasins back, he kills them and regains his immortality...etc.

I enjoyed this movie better then the first one although they are neither masterpieces..they are enjoyable and entertaining, Sean Connery is also good !!
the other movies have nothing on these first 2, the series gets boring too.

6,5/10

I enjoyed this movie better then the first one

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

I guess this falls under the "different strokes for different folks" category

Here I am, debating whether to rate the movie as high as a 2.0, while I gave an admittedly biased 10 to the original

I don't know, it also kinda falls under, "I'll have what he's smoking".

1/10

Words fail to express how bad this movie was, but I'll try. This travesty was so awful that the filmmakers made the third movie in the series as if this second one didn't even exist. Seeing Christopher Lambert on Late Night with David Letterman trying to explain this concept was so funny that I still remember it all these years later.

-1? ok I can go lower? groovy! -10 like in the older D&D book except this -10 is a bad thing.... like gouge out my eyeballs and brush a lemon juice/kerosene/alcohol mixture on the open wounds with a hog bristle brush while singing Eleanor Rigby by the Strawberry Alarm clock at 7:45 in the morning........
yes, this "movie" is just plain... fugly. So fugly that it scarred the actors and traumatixed the writers/directors/kittens associated with the movie and #3 is a remake of the first movie.
bad bad bad bad badbadbadbadbadbadbad.

I wasted a free movie pass on this movie. Yes this movie was so disheartening that 20 years later I still throw curses at all associated with it.
:confused::eek:

Edit: forgot to rate it: 1 or, if I can get away with it: .5.

I have to tell you, watching this movie the first time was seriously a kick in the nuts.

Now, look at all the bad things everyone's said about it. Take all of that into account as to how bad the movie was. Now, further more, take into account how much I enjoy the first one. That in and of itself would be horrible.

But it gets worse.

At a (relatively) local convention we had someone who had worked on the movie. He had several clips that the director had given to him that he played for us. One of the clips we saw made it into the final movie, and it was chopped up. So not only do we go to the movie and get this travesty, we go into it with expectations and get this travesty.

It does have some enjoyable moments, so I won't go as far as to give it an actual 1, but I can barely bring myself to go as high as 1.5

1.5 out of 10 (and that's being generous)

My girlfriend used to watch the Highlander TV show with her parents, and wanted to watch the movies. We watched the first one, which was stereotypical 80s movie bad but still had its own charm.

And then we got this one from Netflix.

Dear God.

Dear . . . God.

Why is this a sequel to Highlander? What the hell is with this giant shield nonsense? It has nothing to do with anything. But everything is just so tragically bad. The plot is disjointed and makes no sense. The acting is terrible. The characters, especially the villains, are ridiculous. The cinematography sucks. The production values are embarrassing.

If you truly hate someone, trick them into watching this movie. But be prepared to go to Hell for it.

I rate this movie a 0. This is quite clearly the worst movie I've ever seen in my life.

This movie was so bad that I refuse to play Heroclix teams without named duplicates.
