I requested to do a FFVII mafia from ABF and would like to get a good sized group to play. I would like to start before Thanksgiving, probably around the 10th (if there are enough signed up).
Also, any requests can be PM'ed to me and I will consider the requests on a first come basis.

FF VII focuses much more on character development than the previous outings, but its still essentially the same thing - a band of heroes fighting to save the planet.

Do you have sign-ups for Random Mafia? Have I missed any of the games you modded? Yeah...you're in.

Yep.
I was going to tell a relatively funny joke when I was planning to run this game by having neither Cloud or Sephiroth in the game. Just because they feel over-rated.
Rufus + Turks are the proper bad-guys!

If this was an ABF game, Sephiroth would be the Town Doctor, and he would have to Roleclaim Day 1, but not be allowed to tell his power.

Oh yeah. I'm in. I renamed all the characters (my favorite part of old-school RPG's) so I kinda have forgotten all their names. Big Hair, Big Swords, Big Ships, Moogles, and a Vampire? Who could ask for anything more.

But I'm definately in for this one!

I hate Final Fantasy 7.
I think it's the biggest example of everything that is wrong with modern video games, and is in fact the game that started the downward spiral from games that were fun to play to games that look real pretty.
That being said, it was pretty fun (I think I played more with the Chocobo Racing/Breeding than the actual game [I HAD to have a full stable of Golden Chocobos]) and I can't say that I regret playing the game.
And who am I kidding, I can't refuse an invite!

But at the end of the day, it didn't even look that pretty.
It just felt like no other game I had played before, just because I could tell that the game designers had had jokes while designing it. Like the fact Yuffie is a secret character in the game.
(BTW, what happens if you don't find get Yuffie and you go to Wutai after crashing the plane? Does the whole sequence where she steals all your materia happen? I've never got that far without getting her - I always spend ages in the forest outside Junon looking for her)

The first time I played I didn't use a strategy book and nothing happens when you go to the island. You get to walk all the way to Wutai with all your materia. You have to go back and find her character or you can't do the pagoda challenge.

So how many guys beat the Ruby and Emerald weapon?
I saw JackA posted in the other FFVII thread he had an insanely powerful team. I had one game I kept returning to when I got bored and used Yuffies Conformer along with the morph function. Every single creature in the downed plane becomes some kind of source. Cloud was so quick and powerful (strength was still maxed out without a weapon) Sephiroth missed almost everytime he tried to hit him...overkill I know. I had at least 3 master materias of green, yellow and red.

I think the real question is how many people cried halfway through the game. Not because of the characters death, per se, but because they had built her up insanely powerful, and then she was just... gone.
Also, wasn't there some rumor at the time of some special White materia or something, that you could get only under special circumstances? Internet fame-rumors at the time made me so mad.
BTW, don't bother watching the Advent Children DVD... it was nowhere near I good as I hoped.

I beat Ruby really easily, and I never really got round to trying Emerald seriously.

Why... did I... not know this?
Relatively angry.
Since, like, that is so awesome.

Although I was angry, I couldn't feel the emotion of anger because I was clapping so hard. Just at the fact they had the balls to kill the main character really randomly.
I love the scene where you are Tifa, and you have to break out of the gasing chamber. Like my favourite bit of a game ever. Lovely cat fight with Scarlett.
Love-ly.

Although FF IX is my favourite game I've ever played.
Literally taking a joke far too far. Taking it so far it becomes unfunny, but then continues and continues that it becomes funny again.

Red XII I meant.
Dude, I spent 103 hours on the game. Chocobo's Galore, countless hours in the underwater ship powering up. Emerald and Ruby. Did it all. I was 15 or 16... School suffered that year.

I totally hear you on Advent Children; it totally angered me that Red XIII only had one freaking line in the entire DVD, and it was almost wholly inconsequential to boot.
As for beating everything in the game, FF VII was my first real RPG (not counting the Zelda games, or Final Fantasy Mystic Quest), and I seriously must've beaten it about 5 times. Needless to say, I got all the level 4 Limit Breaks, beat all the optional bosses, got all the ultimate equipment, and even saw that special scene with Zack and Cloud in the Nibelheim lab basement (though that one I had to use an FAQ to even realize it existed; seriously, how were you ever supposed to figure that one out on your own?).
Only things I didn't really do was get all the joke weapons (I think; I didn't even know about the concept of a joke weapon at the time, so maybe I got them all and didn't realize it?) and finish getting everyone to level 99 to verify that whole rumor about the final boss getting insanely harder if you did so. Anyone here know if that rumor was bunk or not? I've tried checking online, but you know how pervasive these rumors can be, even when they're obviously false.

Must have been bunk.
I found this one spot, where if I held the down button, the characters would constantly move. Which meant if I just held the down button with my big toe, I could get into random battles over and over again. Whenever the random battle sound went off, I would just press the X button, or whichever, with my other toe, to fight.
While I did this I read a book, something about a lost tribe of psychic neanderthals, and easily got to level 99.
Sephiroth was cake.

Yeah, I beat this one 11 times over, and must've started it and gone half-way through before getting distracted at least a dozen more times over the years.
Fantastic gameplay and story. Great, highly memorable characters. What more could you want from an RPG?
