What was the name of the tag team that included The Undertaker and Sid Vicious despite the fact they never once tagged each other?

JDKenada
11/19/2008, 21:31
I can almost guarantee this is wrong, but since you said "included" the Undertaker and Sid, it might mean The Skyscrapers.

That's my best-case-scenario guess.

Captain Beyond

I can almost guarantee this is wrong, but since you said "included" the Undertaker and Sid, it might mean The Skyscrapers.

You are correct sir. The Undertaker (wrestling as Mean Mark Caloway) replaced Sid after Sid punctured a lung in a match vs the Steiners.
Actually he was wrestling as Mean Mark Callous, Calaway is his real name.

Bonus question, who was their tag team partner?

JDKenada
11/19/2008, 22:45
Dan Spivey. That was the easier of the two questions.

How many IC Title reigns did "Macho Man" Randy Savage have?

Pepsirox08

Weren't they also known as the Twin Towers? I remember when Mean Mark used to do the heart punch! That was awesome!

You shouldn't have announced you're questions were going to be about the Undertaker and Shawn Michaels.

JDKenada
11/20/2008, 21:31
The answer of one was correct by the way (sorry I wasn't around to confirm). Most people think he had more. Also, anyone see the pics of him lately (from the Bolt premier)? Dude looks like Waylon Jennings' brother.

BTW, answer is INYH: Badd Blood in October of `97. Taker and Michaels.

An episode of "The Snake Pit" with Hulk Hogan as the guest never made it to air. Why not?

Pepsirox08
11/21/2008, 19:24
hmm gonna guess vulgar language...

JDKenada
11/21/2008, 20:53
No, there were no language worries with this. Here's a hint, though: It was supposed to kickstart a feud between the two.

Pepsirox08
11/22/2008, 00:42
someone die? usually how that happens...

JDKenada
11/25/2008, 21:02
If you watch the extras on the Jake The Snake DVD, Vince, Jake, and Hogan all talk about it.

Jake DDT's (I think) Hogan during the segment, but there's one small problem. Jake gets cheered. This is 80's Hogan, who's (as they put it) the Golden Goose of the company. Rather than go against everything the company is built around...the never aired the segment.

I'll go less obscure this time:

In the days of Chris Jericho as WCW Cruiserweight Champion, he mocked pretty much everyone (including the great Bore-us Malenko). In a #1 contender's Battle Royal, Dean Malenko won while under the mask of what luchadore?

Pepsirox08

Cyclops or ciclope, something to that nature, that was funny!!

JDKenada

fred ottman or typhoon, but i dont wanna ask a question...

JDKenada
12/09/2008, 22:54
Alright, I'll toss out another...

Hulk Hogan was not originally slated as being the third member of the nWo. Who was?

Pepsirox08
12/10/2008, 00:12
Big Show, X-Pac, Shawn Michaels... i think there was a sting imposter... too many options...

viciousbuddha
12/10/2008, 13:53
I think it was The British Bulldog

JDKenada
12/10/2008, 17:38
So far none of the above.

Here's a hint: He was a World Champion while the nWo was at its highest.

Captain Beyond
12/11/2008, 02:10
Was Triple H a possibility?

JDKenada
12/11/2008, 17:41
Second hint: He is not someone on the WWE roster.

JDKenada
12/15/2008, 10:09
Answer: Lex Luger

Apparently, Bischoff was talking to Hogan while the Hulkster was on hiatus about what the plan was for the whole nWo, and Hogan suggested he be the third guy, as him as a heel hadn't really been done and that it would be a great ratings move.

The Mattador
12/15/2008, 20:32
Lex Luger...what was the name of his gimmick when he used to tote a mirror out to the ring when he first flipped to WWF?

Captain Beyond
12/16/2008, 04:43
The Narcissist

The Mattador
12/16/2008, 09:00
The Narcissist was almost as cool as the Lex Luger 'Lex Express' All-American Bus Tour!

Here goes and one from a little further down the line:

Who was the first person to get a televised clean victory over Mr. Perfect in the WWF?

The Mattador
01/16/2009, 22:36
Bret 'The Hitman' Hart

simonexus
01/17/2009, 15:55
Nope, there were a couple of guys before. Anybody else?

Captain Beyond
01/17/2009, 16:16
Hulk Hogan

simonexus
01/17/2009, 16:24
Hogan got the first pin on Perfect, but it was a house show only. The Q is about a televised match;)

Captain Beyond
01/17/2009, 17:11
I'm trying to remember who were faces back then, how about Randy Savage?

simonexus
01/17/2009, 17:19
Nope. Savage was still a heel back then.

A little hint then (I think it is allowed?). The guy in question was almost always close to the main event, but never had a singles title in the WWF. And the match in question was before (but a very short time before!) Perfect got the IC title.

Captain Beyond
01/17/2009, 17:24
I'm the guy who started this thread and I guess I get to say if hints are allowed so why not? Given that hint, I'll say Jake the Snake. I don't remember him ever getting a title despite his popularity.

simonexus
01/17/2009, 17:31
Not Jake either. Another little hint then - despite his popularity Jake never had any title whatsoever in the WWF, while the guy in question had 1 Tag Title reign in the 80s. Also, he was close to the main event more because of "who he knew" (or hang with) than because of "what he knew" (or could do).

So:
* Not Hitman, Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan or Jake "The Snake" Roberts (though they were all on the card when the match in question took place!)
But:
* a face
* with only 1 Tag Team Title on his resume

Pepsirox08
01/17/2009, 18:03

Its the beefcake!! Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake was the first to beat him. YAY i win!

Yes, indeed! In what is actually quite astounding when you look back at it, Perfect had over 1 and a half year of an undefeated streak that came to an end at the hands of none other than Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake at WrestleMania VI

(we're talking TV matches of course, he did lose on a couple of house shows to Hogan, Dusty Rhodes and I think Big Boss Man earlier that year)

Later that month he won the IC title that Ultimate Warrior was stripped off after winning the World Title at the same event.

Your thread, Pepsirox08!

HHHnRaven
04/05/2009, 13:14
Ok, not trying to hijack the thread or anything, but doesn't seem like anybody's using it so I'll offer up a trivia question just until Pepsirox takes over. Not hijackin the thread, just keepin it warm for ya!

Q: Who was the first ever UWF (previously Mid-South Wrestling) Heavyweight Champion?

JDKenada
04/06/2009, 17:08
Freebird Terry Gordy!

Though...I don't think he was remotely close to a Freebird at this stage.

In keeping with the theme, though...

Who beat him for the title later that year?

HHHnRaven
04/06/2009, 22:48
He was indeed a Freebird, as the Freebirds were running roughshod over the now defunct Mid-South territory into the UWF, just coming off their stint in WCCW.

Ok, pre-Vince McMahon, pre-Akeem, One Man Gang beat Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy for the UWF strap, back when OMG was a true threat before he was reincarnated from "deepest darkest Africa", just another Vince molestation of a great territorial talent.

Molestation is an interesting word. Stripping him of all his dignity would be a better one. Plus, you're right.

I didn't know the Freebirds were still riding high when he won the belt. It's a bit early for me and I don't know enough about territory wrestling.

Even if they were the only team that mattered, if Booker T and Stevie Ray are the top two, that would suggest number three is an individual.

Plus, The Dudleyz only held the WCW titles a couple times (if it was even more than once, come to think of it).

They weren't. But, they were in WWE during the Invasion and as such managed to win the WCW title. Doesn't count really, IMHO, but trying telling that to others.

Nash held the titles with Hall 6 times and Sting once. The other guy he held them with was DDP(twice), and went by the team known as the "Insiders". It was near the end of WCW. To prove it, they won the titles and feuded with Chuck Palumbo and Shawn Stasiak. Talk about a weak tag division.

Name another tag team on RAW. Trust me, tag wrestling in WWE is an after thought and an all time low...and it's been there for several years.

Oh, no doubt. The WWE is really doing a number on the tag division. I wish they would really re-work it and give it some quality time. With Raw, Smackdown, and ECW, they have 5 hours each week plus PPVs to showcase some talent.

Miz and Morrison was a great tag team. And I liked Cade and Murdoch. Now the only team I care about seeing is the Hart Dynasty. Hopefully they are used to help rebuild the division.

Lol, that wasn't a trivia question so much as disdain for the current landscape of tag wrestling in WWE.

There were rumours they would put all the tag teams on ECW. I was optimistic when I heard that, but clearly it's not the case.

And honestly, I think the ECW show is the best of the bunch. I am even enjoying Kozlov and Ryder on there. Can't believe I said I enjoyed Kozlov.....

I would totally go for all the tag teams on ECW. At least they would get some air time.

Actually, post-draft I'm quite excited about the possibilities on SmackDown.

RAW is pushing Miz & MVP but otherwise it's same old same. Orton/HHH or Cena/Show fails to illicit any excitement from me and no doubt many others.

Looking back at this, you pretty much nailed it. Smackdown is brilliant, while the Main Event picture of Raw has been pretty stagnant. Next up is another Orton/Cena match. Yippee!!
