Yeah, there was. They had special dialogue for encountering them, and then Raynor and Arcturus had something to say about Fenix and Duke dying, respectively. Raynor got so pissed that he swore he'd end Kerrigan personally. Dude got pretty chummy with Fenix. Know why? Cuz Fenix was cool, and deserved a better send-off.

Must not have played in longer than I thought.

I remember in the original Protoss campaign, I was annoyed that Fenix got killed off. I mean, he was a named character, for crying out loud, and it wasn't that far into the campaign! And then, a few missions later, "Man, that death was inconvenient!" WOO! He's back and he's a BETTER unit! AWESOME!

I remember in the custom map set up there were some funny named units, in addition to the regular ones, especially the Zerg ones. Like the Tarrasque (which was for a special mission), and whatever the Zergling one was.

Of course, our favorite named unit in the game was the GANTRITHOR!

male not from a movie who has never died

Sci-Fi Fantasy – Not a scientist

Came out in the last 20 years

No super human abilities

Likes to use ranged weapons in a future world

Never use energy blades and was not turned into a walking tank thingie

on a TV screen (seeing as we’ve eliminated the game character)

We need to ask a character identifying question, or we're screwed.

We need to determine which show this is, before we ask the question.

The only show I know of that hits the parameters thus far is Babylon 5. What do you guys have?

EDIT: One problem with B5- 5 TV films....

Star Trek's got 11 movies and counting. Not only that, they've appeared on Sci-Fi.

wintremute
06/17/2009, 13:20
The question asked was "Did your character ORIGINATE in a movie", to which the answer was "no".

Star Trek is out, since it is more than 20 years old.

The Next Generation was on for many years before they made a movie.

Deep Space Nine was never made into a movie.

Voyager was never made into a movie.

Enterprise was never made into a movie.

I miss your point when you say they were on Sci-Fi.

Sorry...I missed that question and it wasn't in the recap.

So, what about foreign sci-fi shows? Dr. Who is an old show, but have there been any others? What about Space, Above and Beyond? What about Firefly? (I don't have cable, so I don't know what is on the sci-fi channel). What about the new Terminator TV show?

Foreign sci-fi shows....unknown

The old as well as the new Dr. Who has been on Sci-Fi

SAB's been on Sci-Fi

Firefly's been on Sci-Fi

Terminator is highly unlikely, due to most characters having originated from the movies, and the only other characters worth mentioning being in-human, as well as possessing superhuman abilities.

EDIT: The reason I had asked the question about the Sci-Fi channel was for the purpose of eliminating a whole ton of possibilities, because they re-air just about everything that's Science Fiction related. Frankly, we almost have to be looking for something that's too new for Sci-Fi to have had a chance to re-air. I'm not even sure Babylon 5 hasn't been. Somehow I'm thinking it has.

Even in Bab5, there isn't an obvious choice for somebody who uses ranged weapons.

True, but picking someone who uses them and isn't part of law enforcement should narrow it down a little bit.

Yeah, I don't think we're going to get this...I really don't think we have a clue what the show is, just a whole lot of "No, not this one..."

Ignatz_Mouse
06/17/2009, 16:40
Thing is, outside law enforcement, I can't think of anybody on Bab5 who uses ranged weapons.

Hmm...maybe I should have picked a more well-known character.

Do you all give up?

Thawmus
06/18/2009, 11:31
Well, since this game is stalled, I'm going to go ahead and find out if we're even on the right track. We don't have a chance, but this could be interesting.

First paragraph.

I'll accept the draw. I think it'd be tough to ensure that any Sci-Fi series didn't end up on Sci-Fi. That requires a little too much meticulous work for a friendly game, in your defense.

I'm thinking of another fictitious character.
