When we looking to draft, Stepp? And is this a full out defense is done by position league as in previous years? (I so love building solid defenses.)

well where do we want to play Yahoo, ESPN or NFL???

malakim2099

well where do we want to play Yahoo, ESPN or NFL???

I'm good wherever. I don't think I have an account already at NFL, but I have Yahoo/ESPN.

I think I like ESPN better, but it really doesn't matter much to me. As long as it's free. I'm a cheapskate yaknow. :)

Frontman
07/23/2009, 20:45
ESPN +1 vote here. Yahoo is just too damn cheap looking.

And whatever we do; please avoid Sportingnews. I hate, no I loathe, no I DESPISE that site.

Stepper79
07/29/2009, 22:16
I think everyone is good with ESPN and since we did it there last year it has kept all the info from last season so it should set up much simpler. Kit and her man are in for this season as well so we need one more for rounding out the league as we have 13

Stepper79
08/02/2009, 23:25
I have activated the old league from last season (easier that way) Iceman, Kit, Front Thawmus, and absolutvt69 are already signed up for that league the rest I have sent you and invite or a request for an email address

Can I have Brett Favre... please... my buddy missed his money draft last week, and he got stuck with him.

When we drafting, and are we really having that many teams in this one?

Nevermind. I just manually counted. I saw Team 20 and thought "20 teams will certainly water down the league" but then counted and saw it was just 14.

last season you were, I kept the league the same to keep from having to redo rules and whatnot. I sent out PM's and posted in the old thread got 14 real quick, I have a few alternates if we have folks who don't show up or if another 10 wanna play we can set up a second league

I am waiting on two to sign up if they do not sign up by Friday then their alternates will be given the opportunity, we will draft once the 53 man rosters are set (end of the month)

is there room left for one more

I have 4 others interested in the league in theory if we could get eight to ten then we can run a second league, I could bump the two that have not registered yet to that league meaning it would have 6 so only 4 more would need to join

Stepper79
08/13/2009, 09:54
Ok rather than continue to wait on folks I have set the teams to 12 and set a draft Date of SUN Sept 6th and 9 PM EASTERN

if anyone else wants to join we will start a 2nd league

Is it just me, or is this thread hard to find?

Until I got the draft notice today, I didn't even think to look for a thread, and it took me about 20 minutes to find it. I actually started to think it didn't exist. :ermm:

Anywho, dunno if I'll be able to make draft day. I've got a vacation that spans all the good draft dates, though, so no point in moving it.

Well, hrm. That's the problem. A Saturday would be fine. I might get that Sunday off, as it's Labor Day weekend. :)

If people wouldn't mind 10pm ET, that would probably work for sure also. Sorry, my work schedule is a bit icky sometimes.

Ha! Ok,ok.... maybe the fanboy in me is coming out.

I will say this in all seriousness though - watch out for the Chargers. Much like the Cardinals last year, everyone else in their division is terrible and they will probably have the division wrapped up by November at the latest, giving them plenty of time to rest up before the playoffs....

Not only that, LDT is pissed off. I fully expect him to be well-motivated this year.

I think the Chargers, barring injuries of course, are good for 10 games at least. And then they'll crash and burn in the playoffs at some point because Norv is their coach. ;)

Well, on one hand, I'm not seeing anyone in FA that's worth picking up. And while I hate my backup RB situation, I don't think there's any way to fix it until the season starts, and some people get broken in half.

On the other hand, I'm absolutely WASTING my first shot at any player in FA I want.

Impossible to please.

Man, I'm just glad I had a good fantasy week in this league. The Steelers are pissing me off, my office league team laid an egg after I had just challenged the other owners to beat me (Meh, they're having fun, that's what's important), and I've got RL stuff going on that's bothering me. So having my team flip out like that was pretty nice.

I'm going to claim that my defense has cost me two weeks so far.

I figured the Cowboys would be able to manage sacks at the very least (what, 59 last year?) and they had no turnovers or sacks in the first two weeks. So I decide to grab the Raiders defense this week figuring they will keep up all the turnovers they had been getting but they didn't and then the Cowboys have their big week. Sigh.

Well, hopefully I'll rebound a bit and make the playoffs.

10/23/2009, 02:58
How do I miss this every freaking year?!?! Can someone sign me up for next year now, lol. Well now that I am here, Let me ask you guys, In my league I'm having bye week issues for the third week in a row. This week it's RB. RB has been my weakest spot all year anyway. So which one, or maybe two RB's would you pick up this week from these available guys (two if one might be a keeper, a true no2 RB the rest of the year):
Bradshaw from the Giants, Bell from the Saints, Choice from the Cowboys, Jones from the Jets.
Ray Rice is available, but they are on a bye as well this week, I plan on trying to pick him up for keeps next week.
So who is my best choice(s) for a bye week need in your opinion?

Another question: If you have Cutler, Rogers, and Rothleisburger, which one do you dump/trade?

Thawmus
10/23/2009, 05:42
Well, this really depends on how your scoring is set up for your league, buuuuuut....

I'd go for Bradshaw, because he's been the one that's been getting it done, fantasy-wise for the Giants' ground team. He gets a lot of breakouts each game, and he's always in danger of scoring a TD on one of those.

Choice would be my second pick. Barber has an injury that is going to plague him for a long time this season, and isn't going to be the same. Felix Jones had a posterior injury very similar to the one that made Reggie Bush sub-par for an entire year. It throws off your balance tremendously, which is always important for those guys. And he's got some other injuries plaguing him now, too.

As for your QB's, your league must not give your QB points for doing much of anything at all, if you're talking about dropping Rodgers. I have him in two leagues, and he's been the anchor for my team each week. Cutler has potential, but he's not getting the points. Roethlisberger's actually been a decent fantasy QB for once, this year, but I wouldn't expect Pittsburgh to ever commit to one style of offense all year long.

Rodgers has thrown 350+ in the last two games in a row, with at least 2 TD's in each. Don't know why you'd even be talking like that. :noid:

Rogers is my no1, but in my league Big Ben has been outscoring Rogers. I don't have room to carry all three, unless I find a number two RB keeper. I was leaning towards Bradshaw, but Bell looks awful tempting this week. Choice is my RB of "choice", but I need numbers this week and I am worried about his chances at the Falcons, and if Felix ever comes back this year, well Choice won't see much P.T at all again. Jets playing Oakland makes Jones pretty tempting for a one week use too.

My current RB's are Johnson for the Titans(yeah they suck, but c'mon, CJ is deadly most of the time) and Slaton of the Texans, which I am ready to dump for a number two keeper. I will probably go with Bradshaw and just dump Slaton, and hopefully have room to pick up and carry Ray Rice next week. If I can get rid of Cutler(I hate just dropping him) I will have a spot.

I have both CJ and Slaton on my office league team.

I'm actually far more disappointed in Chris Johnson, than I am Steve Slaton. At least Slaton is doing a decent job of producing lately, even if it isn't on the ground. Johnson only does well if he's playing against the worst defense in the league, or if his team is behind by 50 points. Titans just aren't feeding him the ball. They're more content to watch their two bad QB's throw the ball at the ground 30 times.

However, I wouldn't call either of them dumpable just yet. But that's your call.

Ray Rice should not be sitting in free agency. Even on a bye week.

phantalien
10/23/2009, 10:08
Dump Cutler.

Do you have a league where you need to play 2 QBs? Then there should be no reason to have 3 QBs on your team if you are suffering at RB.

Thomas Jones from the Jets might be your best bet this week as the Jets are facing the Raiders.

Lol, yeah I am agreeing with you there. And in my league we just field one QB per week. I want to trade Cutler for a good RB, but I am getting no action on the Cutler-bait. I have had a tempting offer for Rogers. A guy has offered Maurice Jones-Drew for him, but also offered to take Steve Slaton off my hands (he is a "can't cut" player) for another player if I agree to the Rogers/Jones-Drew trade. If I can get Marquis Colston and Jones-Drew for Rogers and Slaton, I think I'm gonna pull the trigger. I am in desperate need of a no1 RB as Slaton is sucking it up stat-wise, and so has Chris Johnson lately. I don't need a WR (I have Randy Moss, Fitzgerald, Desean Jackson, Sidney Rice we play 2 WR) but it will deprive him of his no1 WR, so it may be worth it.
On a side-note, I picked up Bradshaw today( T. Jones got picked up by another dude) and dropped Percy Harvin. I am going to pick up Ray Rice next week if I don't make this trade.

Should I be content with Ray Rice, Chris Johnson, Steve Slaton, and Ahmad Bradshaw and keep Rogers while just dumping Cutler for roster room, or make the trade?

Yes this. I would definitely do this instead of that trade, given what you've told us. Getting rid of Rodgers should be out of the question.

In my league we also count punt/kick return yards/tds so I would have dropped Sidney Rice over Percy Harvin, or at least traded PH away.

We dont count the yardage, if they score on a punt return, DEF gets the 6 points and if they score on a kick-off return, the individual gets the 6 points. So Harvin has little fantasy value in my league, with the emergence of Sid and Bernard for the Vikes. We also don't count points per reception, though I truly wish we did.

Yeah, I'd kinda give my right arm to have had two solid RBs in the first place. I rode Willis McGahee in the first part of the season, until he started returning 0 points to me every week. Slaton was continually threatening his own job with all the fumbling, and has now lost his starting position, BUT HE MIGHT GET IT BACK, but he might not, either. Williams is playing hurt. And my backups.....they all return 3-4 points a piece.

To make matters worse, we have an anemic FA, and I got ranked #2 as my team fell apart completely. So several of the pickups that would have maybe saved my bacon, have not been available. We'll see what Forsett will do for me, but it ain't gonna be pretty this week against Minnesota.

Oh, and Bowe is now suspended for 4 weeks. Awesome. Not like I was riding on his 17 points a week or anything. Nope. :cheeky:

And then just to add insult to injury you get to play me this week and I've got Ricky Williams. I had Brown and Cedric Benson in one league and both went out. It looks like Benson will be ok eventually but who knows what will happen now w/ Larry Johnson in the mix. It's tough to lose one starter to injury but two at the same position really hurts.
