in issue #2 of BN, Black Hand refers to his lord. Who can this Be?
A list of Suspects-
Hector Hammond- Has had a lot of characterization in GL issues 1-6 & Secret Origin
Monitor- from COIE
Hank Henshaw (Cyborg Superman)- Has always wanted to die, but wasn't able!
Nekron- I have no idea why but this name is being thrown out there a lot
who do you suspect?

the Lord is revealed already.
you want to know? :devious:
I thought it woulc be Dead. from Vertigo. I still bet that will be awesome to introduce Vertigo characters to the mainstream and still can happen, but is not a Vertigo character the Lord.

*Technically,* they've already been introduced. Morpheus met Kyle Rayner (and said that Kyle would be greater than Hal, so SNAP) during Morrison's run on Justice League.
And that being said, I really, really don't think we need any more of the Endless in the regular DCU. It just couldn't end well. Eventually they'd have Superboy Prime punching Destiny, and I'd be throwing away the book before I even turned the page.

The Endless in the regular DCU couldn't end well? It's "endless", so it couldn't end at all.
As for Superboy Prime... what if instead of Destiny, he punched Destiny's child?

Cool. I had it guessed already (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4059297#post4059297) in January this year
ok, do you think the Black Lanterns will have anything to do with Nekron (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nekron)?
What makes me think he doesPowers and abilities
Nekron’s full powers are unknown; it is possible that they have no limit. He has displayed the ability to raise the dead, kill with a touch, fire bolts of black lightning and grow without limit.
I still think Dido is the ultimate power behind the Black Lanterns.

Him and Quesada...
Imagine the children that could be born from those two having a drunken night of passion with each other.

Including coming over to your house, eating all your food, watching your TV, destroying your toilet with his useage, scaring all your friends, running up your credit card bills, making you subscribe to every DC book there is, ordering all the TPB and hardcover reprints that DC puts out AND refering to each and every woman in your life as his very own "old lady".
And then he bills you for his time.

I prefer to use my imagination for more productive things.
The force behind Blackest Night is eminently logical and one of the reasons that; although I'm opposed to the excessive death in DC these days, clearly elevates Blackest Night from the tripe of the Marvel Zombies nonsense. The character chosen has always been all about death and deserves to be elevated to a major villain in the DCU. (Though I hope they don't take him to the extreme they did with Krona.)

Black Hand's Lord?
Simple. It's Max.
I prefer to use my imagination for more productive things.
It would be productive of them, just, you know, not something you want them to put on video and plaster all over the internet.

Actually, in one of Nekron's previous stories, he commanded Krona, so, Nekron might just be a tad more powerful then Krona.
Hell, Nekron captured and is now using the Anti-Monitor for the main power battery of the Black Lanterns. Admittedly, Anti was suffering some serious hurt there, but still, that's a powerful force to be reckoned with.

I'm talking about when Krona was destroying entire universes. Those are power levels that just are out of hand.

Seeing as how Geoff Johns doesn't really do "original" and prefers to strip mine the work of those that have gone before him, Nekron is the logical choice. Didn't this story already happen, just with less rainbow?
I'm talking about when Krona was destroying entire universes. Those are power levels that just are out of hand.
yes...but he didn't do it on PURPOSE. He tried to find the beginning of time and what created everything (which turned out to be....Spectre's Hand at teh beginning of time).

No...if you read the original story it was "prophesied". IN a side story of Tales of the Green Lantern Corps. You know the one with Alan Moore and the introductio of Rot Lop Fan.
No offense but its not like Geoff Johns ...is like...you know...Marilyn Manson. wher nearly ALL HIS work are "cover" songs.
He just likes to highly reference pre-existing things, like Grant Morrison, and Alan Moore, has also done.

Swing and a miss!
Sounds like you've gotten a faulty summary of "The Stories of Alan Moore" gn. Blackest Night was not prophesized in "Tygers, the story that you're referring to. Most if the predictions that Qull gives to Abin Sur actually come about in John's Sinestro Corp War stories , with Ranx, Children of the White Lobe, etc.. This story also has nothing to do with Rot Lop Fan.
Any way, while Johns does stripmine the work of Alan Moore, he also does it to Len Wein. When we first meet Nekron, he's bringing Krona back, and attacking Oa with the dead people, and destroying the power battery...stop me if this sounds familiar.

I'm sorry. We must destroy Geoff Johns for using other peoples' ideas. Because no one else EVER does that in comics! PURGE THE INFIDEL!!!!!
:cheeky:
Seriously, you don't like it? Note it and move on. No need to divert a thread into the argument.
(And Nekron? Well, yeah, who else was it gonna be? Cool look with the scythe/black lantern battery.)
As far as "character that dies"... I'd say Hal, but he comes back. He's gotta have all the rings. ;)
Yeah, you're right... we should hate artists who can pick up on old threads, still unresolved and make them timely and interesting
Rather we should support writers who have their characters unconnected, out of character and pointlessly violent

hmmm No I swore The nekron part was an actual story but the entire war of light concept was prohpesized when Abin Sur fell into that one area.
I don't read summaries until AFTER i've read it, I can't stand those sycophantic little ####s who get all of their info from wikipedia and assume its just as agood as reading the original.

Actually, those old threads were pretty much resolved sometime back.
Nekron is pretty much repeating himself. Only thing missing is an appearance by Captain Atom.
Rather we should support writers who have their characters unconnected, out of character and pointlessly violent
Was that sarcasm or the love of Bendis shining through ?

That's the surprise ending of Blackest Night. It all turned out to be an alternate reality known as Earth-40 something.
no earth-40s already been designated :P
I wonder though if Batmen across the Mutliverse who were living died along with The Mainstream's earth.
I mean wouldn't it be great if If Owlman just had a heartattack while trying to scare an old lady for protection money

The Nekron bit is a red herring. I still say the true mastermind will be revealed as---
--wait for it--
--Tom Kalmaku.
Can't you just envision that scene?
"Tom--?"
"Yes, Hal, it's me. Your old comedy relief. Remember that quaint nickname you used to call me? 'Pieface'. And how I had to pretend it was funny, because talking back to Ferris' fair-haired boy was more than my job was worth. I had to swallow all that abuse and humiliation, keep it inside me, where it festered and poisoned my soul. Turning it...black. Well, now it's your turn to swallow some humiliation, Hal. How does it taste? Tell me, does it taste like...Eskimo pie?"
I wouldn't mind seeing PIEFACE come back...though as a mastermind that's just damn funny

Yeah, DC would never do anything that silly. That's almost as absurd as Lex Luthor as President, or Batman with a bratty adolescent son, or Geo-Force in the Justice League...
Right which Is why I could see them having Pie come back....BUT NOT as a mastermind.
Well in all fairness:
I like Geo Force
Lex Luthor as president was an obvious step for some who promoted himself as a "humanitarian" despite being xenophobic.
And
The NEW Batman and Robin is surprisingly well done.
And Batman with a Bratty Adoptive son has been done in an older issue of Teen Titans...though again he wasn't his BIOLOGICAL son.
And why not he had a daughter with catwoman originally.

I think that was a Brave and the Bold story, actually; "Punish Not My Evil Son". A one-shot story from the Haneyverse should not be used as a model for an ongoing part of current continuity. What's next? Willie von Dort and the Demolition Derby of Doom?

The Earth-Two Batman did. I admit I haven't read any of these "Damian Wayne" stories but I have a big problem with the premise: the aging factor. If Batman had a son by Talia (whom he didn't even meet until his first Robin was college age), and that son is now what, eleven or twelve? How the Hell old is Batman supposed to be??

In the current continuity, Batman met Ra's before having Dick as Robin. He was been Batman for 13 years. Dick began as Robin at age 12, roughly 2 or 3 years into Batman's career.

Nope look it up. i think if you look into a Teen Titans Essential you should easily find the story I'm referring to...like Volume 1? I think.
Batman? I don't worry too much about Batmans age.... we have characters bending steel with their bare hands, walking on buildings like a spider, birthed from clay, wearing rings that can shape whatever their minds can imagine, some dude that likes to "adopt" wayward boys........ and you are talking about realism?

Why is this surprising? The creative team behind last year's best series is producing this year's best series. Nothing shocking here. Hitting it out of the park is what Morrison and Quitely do.

No, you only repeated what you saw posted beforehand. It was Troma who called it "Essentials". It should be noted that Troma is a butler, and, as we all know, the butler did it. Ergo, he's to blame.
