My names Patsy Walker, but I'm better known as Hellcat. Actually, I'm not even sure if I am better known as Hellcat. See, I used to be a fashion model before I was a superheroine, and I'm not exactly the best known hero on the beat, so I'm probably better known as Patsy Walker, queen of the catwalk. Pretty sad huh?

Of course it doesn't help that it took me a while to find my feet. One day I was down the street shopping and I saw Spider-man take down a gang of thieves, making witty quips all the while. Boy did it look like fun. So I made myself a costume, and started prowling the streets calling myself just "The Cat". After the third criminal mistook me for Black Cat, I added Hell on the front of it to try and stand out from the crowd a little more. Still it didn't seem to make much difference...until I found the Defenders.

It's always been a wierd group, The old team had the ironically warm and funny Iceman in it, as well as the polar opposite in the frosty Moondragon. We had a few adventures and it was fun, but the group didn't stay together for long. After we went our seperate ways I put the costume away and went back to being a fashion superstar. But not very long ago the Doc came to find me saying the earth needs the Defenders again, Apparantely some big hoo-ha is gonna happen soon, so he's gathering all the good guys he can to try and stop it.

So here I am again, in the Doc's wierdo digs hanging with my old buddy the Hulk. There's a new girl in the group called Valkyrie...she's not cold like old Moony was, but in fact seems to be at the other extreme- a real hothead! And there's a new guy called Nighthawk as well. He seems pretty keen. We just got back from taking down Dormammu in the Dark Dimension. The Doc rescued some girl from Dormy's palace called Clea - bit of a freakazoid if you ask me, but I guess it shouldn't surprise me that he'd be into that kind of thing. She's been ogling all his stuff since he got here and at the moment she's carressing his crystal ball doo-hicky. He's never let me touch that thing!

"Oh my!" Clea said. "Come and see this quickly!"

Me and the rest of the Defenders ran in to see what all the fuss was about, and here was Doctor Doom himself with a massive army of robots marching to war on the crystal ball. "Whoah" I said, "Is that the big scary thing you got us together for Doc?" I asked. He just raised an eyebrow at me. "Of course not- a war is nothing to be bothered about. Wars happen all the time- they are beneath our concern." I was about to argue with him and say we should do something, when the Doc's eyes went wild as he looked deeper into the floating ball. "BY THE HOARY HOSTS OF HOGGOTH!" He cried. "There is something here that requires our attention after all!" I looked at the ball, and there was that Sub-Mariner fella going wild, tearing a city to shreds.

Hulk snorted. "Stupid Fish-man, Always fights without thinking." I had to supress a giggle at that remark. Valkyrie unsheathed her sword. "Come...let us deal with this menace before he destroys all of Midgard. He must make haste. Mage- take us there immediately!"

Dr. Strange shook his head calmly. "We must not be too hasty. The Sub-mariner is an old ally of mine and perhaps even a friend. He is not himself and I must scrye the cause of his rage."

Valkyrie's eyes narrowed. "You would delay our aid? Every minute lives are being lost!"

"You do not comprehend. These images are not of the preset but rather the near future. We have time yet."

I couldn't believe he wasn't going to act right away. "Shouldn't we at least warn the Avengers or the Fantastic Four about Doom while we wait?!" I spluttered. Nighthawk met my eyes and gave a slight shrug, but the rest of them just ignored me. Sheesh! What a bunch of knuckle-heads. The Doc kept looking at Subby in the ball.

"Yes....yes I see. He has been long-deprived of his water. We should easily be able to stop his rampage from ever occuring now. Come, let us depart!" He waved his fingers in the air, and in a flash we were gone from his place....and were somewhere else all together.

Namor 1A

"Fools! I am Doom, and I have deemed this land Doom's land. Be gone with you, or feel the dogs of my wrath!" Cried the faux Doom.

Free) Dr. Doombot Leadership: 3

Looking savage with rage, Namor the Sub Mariner, hovered there, hair scraggly and covering his face. Looking more like a savage dog than a noble king, the Sub Mariner roared, hurling himself forward with a Doombot in dogged pursuit, ripping a boulder from the sand, he headed straight for the collected warriors.

1) Namor grabs the Doombot and the HO in front of him and barrels forward, himself in I-9, the Doombot in J-9.

"::Prime Directive:: Amplify>Target: Sea King::" sqwaked the Doombot.

2) E Doombot flies to H-9.

"Bah. I do not trust these machinations. I will be the one to protect our King!" The Warrior cried, diving into the water and creating a massive splash of a wave in front of the Mariner.

3) Aquawarrior swims to I-10, grabbing a LO along the way, where he's kinda Stealthed.

Question- can you enhance the damage on a thrown object? I'm guessing you can, but I'd never thought of it before.

Defenders 1B

1. Dr. Strange moves to K19, carrying Val to J19.

2. Nighthawk dives into the water at O19.

3. Hulk moves to I22.

Free: Hellcat Leaps to F20.

Story:

We spotted the Sub-Mariner headed straight at us looking mighty frazzled and flanked by both Doombots and a blue-skinned guy who had to be an atlantean. I didn't know much about this guy- supposedly he'd fought in World War II, although he looked way too young for that, and a couple of years ago he'd tried to invade New York. Apparently he's pretty tough.

The Doc took charge right away. "Fan out Defenders." But the Hulk didn't seem to like that. "Dumb Magician is always telling Hulk what to do. Thinks he's smarter than Hulk. Well Hulk isn't going to listen to Dumb Magician any more." He waded away from us and the Doc looked at me pleadingly, so I leap frogged over the big guy and landed on a rock in front of him. "Hey big guy, what's the matter?" I asked him, trying to figure out why I always had to babysit the big galoot. Meanwhile, Nighthawk dived into the water the other direction... looking sleek as ever.

Nope, can't enhance a thrown object. It's damage is set. Basically what would happen is Aqualad's damage would become 3 for the ranged attack, but the object's damage would never change ;)

2. Hulk pushes to charge to L16 and attacks the SI Doombot. AV of 10 vs DV of 16. Needs a 6. Rolls a 9 (3+6). Hit for 1 damage after Toughness.

3. Dr. Strange picks up Val and floats to K15, placing her at L14.

Story post:

"C'mon Hulk, we need your help here." I said to the big lummox.

"Hmph. Hulk thought Cat-girl was friend. But Cat-girl is just like Dumb Magician trying to tell Hulk what to do."

"Fine then." I sighed, rolling my eyes. "Well I guess I better get in there myself." I ran around to the back of the group of soldiers and atlanteans hoping to take a straggler by surprise. And there right in front of me was the Sub-Mariner himself. His hair was wild and his eyes were blazing with fury. He turned and looked at me, and a string of drool dropped from his snarling lips.

"Cheese and Crackers." I quietly muttered and stood there gaping. The Submariner hefted a massive rock above his head and growled at me. I was going to die, I could just tell. Then a smaller rock hit him from the other direction. "Hey meathead," Nighthawk yelled, "didn't anyone ever tell you not to hit girls." The Sub-mariner let out a guttural snarl and threw it at Nighthawk instead clipping his shoulder. I barely had time to breathe though, and a bunch of those robots fired at me knocking me off my feet. I fell on the bank and just started to lose consciousness as I heard the Hulk's enraged cries;

"FISH-MAN HURT CAT-GIRL! HULK WILL SMASH!!"

'Well at least I managed to get the Hulk into the fight' was my last thought.

Uh, Wakada... according to the rules thread:
12) Recruiting new characters

To recruit a character, the team must pay TXP equal to twice the character’s point value. At all times, over half the members of the team have to have the Team Ability on some version.

So wouldn't Namor cost 232 TXP to recruit?

He had spent 116 points to reserve Namor earlier, a few arcs ago.

Yeah, check out the rules for Reserving characters. Basically it's a way to lock a character in if you've been saving up for them for a long time so that no other teams can nab him (especially new teams since they get 600 TXP to spend straight away). Since Namor has been in a lot of teams and I was definitely going to recruit him next regardless, I put him on Lay-Away a while ago. :)

Epilogue:

I woke up later to see that the Doc doing some kind of wierd hocus pocus on the unconscious Sub-mariner's head. The speedo wearing dude woke up looking not at all happy.

"Where....where am I? Doctor Strange? What is the meaning of this?"

The Doctor helped him up. "Be calm my friend. You've been under a kind of mental control. It seems Doom was using his science to drive you into a mad rage."

"WHAT?!" Namor's blood looked like it was boiling. "He came to me offering to help me retake my throne from the accursed Attuma, and this is how he betrays me! That tin-plated egomaniac will pay for this!"

The Doc nodded in agreement. "He will recieve his just reward for his actions."

Hulk stood by and scratched his head. "Hulk doesn't understand. Fish-man was enemy. We came here to stop Fish-man so Hulk and Fish-man fight until Hulk smashed Fish-man. Now Fish-man is friend?"

I tried to explain it to him, but it was no good. "It's okay Hulk. He was just being controlled by the robots."

"No! Why does Cat-girl take Fish-man's side? Hulk thought Cat-girl was friend, but Hulk should have known better. Hulk just wants to be left alone!" With that he leapt off.

Namor snorted. "We're better off without that mindless brute anyway. Now then, what is this group Strange?"

Strange half-smiled, "The Earth needs Defenders, and so we are. We could use your strength Namor? Will you join us?"

His eyes narrowed. "I have no intention of joining a super-group. Atlantis must take priority. Nonetheless, you have done me a great service this day and in times of great need I shall aid you."

The Doc nodded his assent. "Understood. As a token of our new alliance, we could help you to reclaim your kingdom."

"We could?" I asked. Sometimes the Doc's priorities just didn't seem to make sense. Doom's robots are invading our homeland full scale, and he wants to go scuba diving?

He nodded. "It would be for the best." He looked at Namor's feral hairstyle. "But perhaps first we should return to my Sanctum Sanctorum for a haircut? You want to make a good impression to your people when you return." With that, he waved his hands in the air, and we were instantly back at his place.
