(We play mixed, but tend to prefer the DC characters)
Normally I used this team for a 300 point game:
V Swamp Thing 93
V Vulture 24
R Avalanche 19
R Metropolis SCU 16
R Bane 61
R Aquaman 27
E Jean Grey 39
E Checkmate Medic 17
296
Here's a team I'm considering:
V Blue Beetle 43
R Bane 61
R Aquaman 27
V AIM Medic 17
E Swamp Thing 84
E Hawkman 43
R Hydra Medic 12
R S.H.I.E.L.D. Medic 12
299
My opponents really like it up close and personal, and I do agree for the most part - last time they homed in on my only medic and left me sweating it (he did get to heal successfully three times before loosing support) so the triple medics is mostly to irritate them :D but with the Hydra and SHIELD abilities and B.B. shooting, they also give me a credible shooty attack.
I was considering a V Huntress, or a V Black Widow (for Incapacitate) or even breaking out my Desaad for Outwit.
I know I'll be facing my sons team of:
V Batman
E Hercules
V Robin (Who was amazingly effective against me last game)
E Spider Man
R Hydra Medic
... and my wife's team is more flexible, but she'll most likely have:
V Rogue
V Harley Quinn
V Joker
R Gorilla Grodd
-------------------------------------------
Now, I do try to nudge them both with helpful rules suggestions (team abilities, etc.) but otherwise I play full bore, play to win.
I want to challenge them, and start using a variety of figures - Bane and Aquaman tend to come with me from team to team.
Jason [my son] and I entered the tournament at the local comic shop, and won 1st and 2nd place... sadly we were the only players :) and the shop owner was rewarding us making the trip - but my son beat me fair and square with the team above, and is sticking with it.
Our collection is listed here: http://www.delcarsdungeon.com/heroclix.htm
I let them team build first, and pick from the "s####s", and we tend not to use dupes out of personal preference - excepting the flunkies (Hydra, SHIELD, Criminals, etc)
