View Full Version : DC Premiere Boxes for $12 - Good or Great?

Need some opinions. A local toy store has DC Premiere Edition boxes for $12. Obviously that's a good deal because my local hobby store is selling boosters for $6.
Premiere with 10 chars, maps, tokens, dice, click ring (guarenteed experienced batman is nice too) or...
2 boosters with 8 chars - seems like a no brainer
I have a fairly good idea of what I can expect from boosters as far as finding uniques but I have no idea what to expect from the premiere boxes as I have only bought two. (no uniques in either)
Are uniques in premiere edition boxes easy to find, impossible to find or somewhere in between?
Should I run back out and buy everything that they have (hoping it's still there) or should I just be happy with getting a good deal on the two boxes I just bought.
Thanks for any info you can pass along.
Update: Just realized that this was getting posted to the marvel forumn...doh! Anyway, this is a sort of a general question so I'm okay.
If by premeire you mean the one with batman in the window, I believe that those ALWAYS hyave the same 10 figs. There's no chance of doing better then what is guaranteed.
As for that note, your chance if getting a unique is 0%.

"Are uniques in premiere edition boxes easy to find, impossible to find or somewhere in between?"
Impossible. Why? Because premiere boxes are fixed. The same 10 figures are in each box! :)
From the product description on whizkids site:
"This box includes Batman, Robin, Aquaman, Hawkman, Huntress, The Joker, Bane, Man-Bat, Clayface III, and Harley Quinn."
So if you need those figures, buy it! If you don't need them, don't buy it. Certainly don't buy more than one!! :D

Getting a premier set for $12.00 is a good bargain. It should contain E Batman, the most sought after Batman in the set. He is often worth that much just in trade value (I've seen very few Batman figures pulled randomly). But you will get the same figures in each premier. I believe that the DC Premier set was formulated to have two 200-point teams: one of Bat-family and one of Anti-Batman. They are useful for teaching people the game, and they have a map that is not available anywhere else (which can also be worth something when trading).

Thanks guys!
I bought the last Marvel and 1 DC so I didn't screw myself but buying a bunch of DC certainly would not have been fun. (they probably had 8 more) I'll just be content with finding a good deal on the ones I bought.
Thanks again.
I assume you got this at ZB....I did this too....(check out the Gamecube prices....$89! Picked one up for the nephew and neice). Anyway, I picked it up just for the different maps, for $12...maybe a rip off, but it's nice to have some different maps. Also, I seemed to have misplaced my DC team affiliation card....
Our local ZB had DC and original Marvel boosters on clearance as well I think, near case prices. I have to go back and check.
The frustrating thing is that they have the Marvel premier box there as well...at full price....I took it up to the checkout with the other, but the guy said, sorry, $30....
If you can find the origal starter pack, it seems your chances for uniques are pretty good there. I gave one away as a prize at a contest this weekend, and there was a U Wasp in there.

It was at ZB. I saw the Gamecube marked down but my store had it for $112. (might have bought it at your price)
They did give me the marvel premiere for $12 though. (I was lucky enough to get a screaming hot 18 - 22 year old girl - I flirted a little and she scanned the DC box twice for me...lol)

Where is ZB? Is that the store's full name? Cuz I definitely want those deals.

ZB == Zany Brainy
It is a toy store chain.
Sorry, didn't intend to be vague, but I am unsure of the rules for posting store names out here...
Went last night again. Boosters for $4 (but no CT) and Marvel and DC Starters for $8. If someones gets some starters, let us know how you did on uniques. My 2 DC and 3 Marvel boosters yielded 0, but I have an extra Elektra and Experienced Hulk, not bad....needed more of them...
Does the Marvel Premiere set have a different map?

Yup. Both premier sets have unique maps only available there.
The ZB by me is going out of business and had ONE DC premiere for 30, with 40% off....but i noticed it was open and one fig was missing....

"If someones gets some starters, let us know how you did on uniques."
in the past week i bought a dc starter from ZB and pulled the U Darkseid.
a friend of mine just got a marvel starter yesterday from there and pulled a U Thanos.
so yeah......ZB = Good Luck imo.

Haven't found a ZB with DC packs or starters, but I did pretty well on IC Uniques -- out of 24 packs and a Starter I got six Uniques, including Thanos.
It's kind of a ####shoot, though. Some stores were real careful with their stock, so you can find untampered packages. Others weren't so careful and you can see how they've been picked through, though at that price it's worth it for good nons even if you won't get a U.

After reading this thread, I decided to stop by the local ZB to see what was to be had. They had the DC Premier for $12 (drat, i coulda saved $5) but what was worse was the condition of the Marvel boosters/starter sets. They were back in the corner with clearance/jumble/misc merchandise. Every one of them had been opened and rummaged through...most were missing at least one figure. Made me kinda mad at local collectors/players. Some sets had only one figure left. I informed the manager, and then of course she told me if I wanted any of them, she'd make a deal, just pick and pull what I wanted, but of course there wasn't anything left worth mentioning. I've always been more of a DC person, and so I didn't even see any characters left that I had ever heard of.
Anyway....

I stopped by my local ZB as well and got the Premier for DC and Marvel for $9.00 each. They only had marvel starters in addition to that and all had been opened and looted of good figs as well.
Woohoo! Found another ZB that still had both DC and Marvel Premier left ($12) and one Inifinity Booster ($4). I've always been more of a DC comic fan, but wanted Marvel too, for the maps and just for more fun characters. A friend of mine had picked up two infinity challenge boosters for me elsewhere, and we pulled 2 uniques (Vision and Juggernaut), along with Invisible Woman (tough paint job on that one) and other fun characters. Anyway this silly game is costing me sleep and bucks.
