View Full Version : An extra special stupid question about lunge
If say 50 point SI Spider-man with Lunge is two away from an opponent, can he declare a Close Combat attack "blip" two spaces thus becoming adjacent and do his SP flurry attack ?
Sorry can't get back into the site to copy the text for lunge and Spidey's SP
(but the question is more about the "blipping aspect" allowing close combat attacks when not intiallly adjacent without a Move and attack power even with a simple standard close combat attack)
Thanks !!
He can.
From the Player's Guide :
"LUNGE
• To use this feat: (1) Announce the action the character will take, even if it is not a legal action from its current position, as long as it can be adjacent to an opposing character for step 3. (2) Reposition the character from its current square to another square up to 2 squares away. (3) Perform the close combat attack."

Prerequisites: Close Combat Expert or Leap/Climb
Choose a Character
When the character is given an action, but before it makes a close combat attack, it can break away automatically and move up to 2 squares.
So you give Spider-Man a close combat action to use Flurry, then (before he makes a close combat attack) he can 'blip'.
Same thing with using CCE, Exploit Weakness, or anything else that ends in a close combat attack.
***EDIT: Or you can look in the Player's Guide, like Drunky did... ;)
Thanks guys !!!
even dumber question(s):
a) In the above example if spider-man was 6 away he could not move 4 then "blip" 2 and attack right ? (that would be 2 actions)
b) and prob. more importantly what is the players guide and how do I find it ?

Why would he be able to move 4 and then Lunge 2? He doesn't have Charge or anything... I am not really sure where you are coming from here... please clarify.

The Player's Guide was/is the official WK source of clarifications, errata, and FAQs. It can be found here on the 'realms in the Units section (tab above, right next to 'Forums'). The Unit section has links to pdfs for the rule book, the PAC, the Player's Guide, all sorts of goodies.

I hate to hijack your thread, but I also have a question about Lunge. I ran accross the really interesting situation, and I believe its leagal.
What it is, is Rapaging Hulk has two feats:
Hold the Line
Give the character a power action to make a close combat attack against an opposing character. If the attack succeeds, you may modify the character's attack value by -2 and make a close combat attack against a different opposing character as a free action.
Lunge
When the character is given an action, but before it makes a close combat attack, it can break away automatically and move up to 2 squares.
And he has the following power that grants Quake as a free action:
SQUASH
The Rampaging Hulk can use Leap/Climb. Immediately after the resolution of a move action in which the Rampaging Hulk uses Leap/Climb, he can use Quake as a free action.
Wording for the action Quake in powers section:
Give this character a close combat action; until the attack has been resolved, this character’s damage value becomes 2 if it is greater than 2. Make a single attack roll and compare the result to the defense values of all opposing adjacent characters. Each character that takes damage from this attack is knocked back.
So does this mean Rampaging Hulk has the following capabilities:
Leap, lunge, Quake.
and
Hold the Line, Lunge, attack (possible object), Lunge, attack (possible object)

Yes, on the first one and it depends on if he succeeds on his first attack for the second. If he does, then yes.
Unless there's something I'm not aware of, anyway.
Lunge really is one of those great cards that you almost always want to use, but isn't necessarily game breaking due to the prerequisites.
On the first part yes u can move full movement then lunge two and quake.
With hold the line you would be able to lunge attack lunge attack.
But you would not be able to pick up an object during the lunge portion of the attacks.
But you would not be able to pick up an object during the lunge portion of the attacks.
We never got an official answer on this part. I totally agree with you, though.

There is no official ruling on this part. Harpua says no, nbperb says yes based on what he believes the designers' intent.
