I recently fielded a team that included rookie Ultron and experienced Klaw and I liked it a lot. So, in reading how good experienced Ultron was, I bought a few figures on eBay.

I've got all versions of Klaw, Vulture, Ultron, Sabretooth, A.I.M. medics, and Mr. Hyde. Experienced Bullseye, and rookie and experienced Dr. Doom, Doombot, Dr. Octopus. Veteran Annihlus, Juggernaut and Kang. Those are the main bad guys that I have that I've tried using. No uniques or LE's. I try to just run Marvel, non duplicate armies. I also try to just field bad guy teams and good guy teams when playing with my friend.

Since I've been trying to use Ultron (E), I just can't win. My friend has beaten me twice in a row now. The 300 pt. team that I just put together had:

Ultron - E
Klaw - V
Vulture - R
Dr. Octopus - R
A.I.M. Medic - V x 2

300 pts.

I started off well with a nice EE explosion on three figures, but things went downhill fast. Klaw missed an incapacitating shot on Thor which allowed Thor to really hurt Ultron. That and several failed breakaway attempts put me away.

So, what kind of 300 pt. army would you build around an experienced Ultron if you were just sticking to Marvel, bad guys? Maybe I'm wasting too many points on Klaw. He just seems real cool and all. I think he's pretty solid, but a tad expensive.

Thanks!

The staples for running with E Ultron have become either Exp Boomerang for the attack sharing team ability and EE, or Vet Puppet Master for the attack sharing agaqin but for Puppet Master's never tiring Mind Control. I'd add to the Puppet MAster team a Rookie Avalanche and a Doombot to carry said Avalanche around. The Doombot and Ultron can move for free with Avalanche's brotherhood ability and you can have uppet Master MC the heavy hitter on the other team for big damage, having Avalnche barrier to protect Ultron and Puppet in the mean time. Easy.

Cool ideas. I do have the Experienced Boomerang and the Veteran Puppet Master. As for Barrier, I have the Experienced Avalanche and Experienced Pyro though. No rookies. I'll consider your ideas.

Oh, and I tried posting this earlier, but the post came up blank. Sorry.

Experienced Ultron's big selling point is the MOD ability combined with very high Attack and Defence values. Sinister Syndicate team-members are cheap, and allow Ultron to lend his 13 Attack to other Wild Cards, such as Doombots. Defenders are more expensive, but Experienced Dr Strange is a good addition to a team using Energy Explosion, and allows all those Doombots to share Ultron's Defence value too. Add an Avenger/Brotherhood figure, so the Doombots can move for free, and work from there.

Here's a team I posted in another thread.

E-Ultron
E-Klaw
V-Whirlwind
E-Vulture
E-Avalanche (or whatever else you want to use the remaining 26 points for)

Klaw can share Ultron's attack to get a 13. Now Klaw is much more dangerous. Klaw probably wouldn't have missed Thor with that attack. The nice thing about Klaw is that his defense stays 16 until his last couple of clicks. It makes him hard to heal, though.

bhudson,

As the rest of the guys pointed out, the primary problem is that you aren't utilizing Ultron's MOD status to its fullest (you may as well use Rookie Ultron in that case). Also he's at his best when he's lobbing enhanced multi-arrow EE volleys at the opponent.

Phil made some great suggestions. Experieced Stange goes great with Ultron since they can share defense, Dr. Strange can enhance Ultron's damage after a push and if you have a Hydra member on your team Ultron can up Strange's attack by 1.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned giving Ultron a SHIELD cohort. That is currently the easiest way to enhance EE in the game since you can get SHIELD in your team for a mere 11 points.

Try building a team around Ultron with (Experienced) Boomerang, some Doombots and a SHIELD Medic. The rest is completely up to you but I'm pretty sure this will work well.

Hope this helps,
VH

300 points, I'd do this:

139 - E Ultron
74 - E Klaw
66 - V Doctor Octopus
20 - E Vulture

E Ultron is ok with energy explosion, but there are other guys that can be just as good or better. Here's what I'd do.

First off, have Doc Ock perplex Ultron's damage up to 4. Have him attack. Next have E Klaw follow up using sinister syndicate ability to do another 4.

OR

139 - E Ultron
34 - E Boomerang
15 - R Vulture
38 - V Doombot

That's 226 points. I know you want to stay with a villan theme, so that'd give you a lot of points to to work other figures in.

a Vet Doc Ock would work well in this team as well since he can use perplex and will power and energy explosion is ok, but without enhancement, it'll be really hard for you. Now if you were playing a 400 point game, you could add a nightmare and have some fun, but it still wouldn't do well against invulnerability.

Also, a vet Sabretooth could work here as well.

Thanks for all of these great ideas guys. I'm going to have a lot of fun trying these new ideas out and seeing what I can come up with when comparing your suggestions to my collection. I have most of what was mentioned. I don't have a veteran Dr. Octopus or a veteran Doombot though, but I think I have everything else.
