Gosh, I keep wanting to say "Buck Rogers", but that's not right, because he started out in short stories, not on TV.
Also, "Flash Gordon".
Really ticking me off.
My current train of thought has brought me to MST3K. Because with Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon being out, I really can't think of anyone else.
MST3K would fit, because not only is it a pretty recent show, Mike Nelson is alone in his spaceship, despite his robot friends, which could or could not be considered his crew. And, if it ended up being him, and we didn't guess it, I'd eat my hat.
However, there is a pretty major flaw: The show had several hosts, so guessing one of them is going to suck, if it is one of them. And on top of this, I'm not so sure he was ever in a comic book, even if it wasn't his own.
The other one I thought of was Steve Austin, but his show is too old, and I don't think there's been anything of late.

Not according to Wikipedia. And not that I had ever heard of, either.
Well, here's an idea. I could ask him if it is on this list:

I'll give you guys a clue in order to clarify the ship/crew question.
The ship he travels on does have a crew. But it's not necessarily HIS ship and HIS crew (which is the way the question was asked). If you asked someone who the ship and crew "belonged" to, he would not be the first answer.
Considering that is a picture of Kalel.....
I think that splitting hairs.
For example, Kirk didn't actually OWN the Enterprise. The Enterprise and her crew belonged to the Federation.

I know I can cite one example of Picard referring to the Enterprise and her crew as, "My Ship, my Crew" (All Good Things, to Q after destroying the anti-time anomaly). I can't cite a specific example of Kirk saying so, but I'm almost positive he did at least once.

But if you asked "Who's ship is the Enterprise?" most people would answer Kirk, not.... someone else.

Space Ghost?
Space Ghost?
No, not Space Ghost.
19 down. 1 to go.
I probably did split hairs too much with the ship/crew question, so I'll give you all five more questions.
So it's now 19 down; 5 to go.
The character travels on a ship that has a crew. In that sense, "his" ship doesn have a crew.

Space Ghost?
Auuuggghh! What are you doing? Space Ghost got ruled out with the space monkey question!
Oh well, let's try this; did he travel with his family?
The ship/crew clarification just makes MST3K all the more likely in my mind. However, the comic book thing still sucks.
Was the character forced to watch terrible movies?

Is it Montgomery Scott?
Is it Montgomery Scott?
Yes, it is Scotty.
In retrospect, I did get way to nitpicky on the "his ship" question. I was afraid if I answered it "Yes" without qualification, then it would falsely indicate that the answer had to be the ship's owner or commander. I over-thought it a bit.
