so, it blocks all lines of sight, even Ultimates/Supes? Or no?

also, if i am using it, would it prevent Aquaman from using his Brilliant Fishy Tactician on my teammates?

It is impossible to draw line of fire to the Submerged character even if the character attempting to do so has the Ultimates/Superman TA. This is because water terrain is considered clear terrain for line of fire purposes, and Ultimates/Superman Allies only get to ignore hindering terrain.
Susan Richards ignores all terrain period though, so she cna still blast Submerged characters.

Feats are optional unless stated otherwise. Just don't use it when you want to use Brilliant Tactician and you can draw line of fire just fine.

Does this work like turning off a power? That is, if you decided not to use it for a turn, you can't use it for the rest of that turn?

No. Feats are optional on an action to action basis.

Edit: Page 20 - "A feat assigned to a character is in effect during an action unless the player who controls the character indicates at the beginning of the action that the feat is not being used. The feat resumes its effect immediately following the completion of an action during which it is not used."

That is great to know, thanks! I'm looking at running a :m-dolphin: team soon, complete with some Submerged and JL Aquaman...it's nice to know that I can use that perplex of his on more characters that I originally thought.

On a smei-related note, Tempest's special power makes all squares within 3 of him water terrain. Does this include the square he occupies?

So to shorten it, can he use submerged to hide in his own power?

Yes. 0 is less than 3. :)

Thank goodness I haven't been cheating! He really is awesome!

Just beware. All your opponent needs to do is toss some Smoke Cloud under him and he's no longer in water.

Um, could you please not tell them that!

If you want make this team extremely deadly, play the Atlantis Rising BFC, and put Submerged on as many figs as you can. If you win the dice roll for first player, take a map with very little hindering and elevated terrain, such as the Mutations and Monsters Arena map.

If you have some Regen, throw on Auto-Regen as well.

This is an extremely hard team to beat if you play it well.

Thanks for the suggestions, which I repped you for. Some of those things my playing group hasn't implemented yet (BFC, map roll)...but I'll definitely make note of these ideas. The Atlantis Rising in particular would make this a very VERY annoying team to play again (evil laughter beings to spring forth from my inner being)...and I like the Auto-regen idea as well (especially if I reconfigure and throw SI Namor on there)

No sweat, always happy to help out a fellow Clixer.

On the subject of tactics, you have to talk your group into using BFCs. They add random element to the game that spice it up quite a bit.

If you do implement them, just make sure that everyone has theirs picked out and set aside before the game begins, or before any forces are even revealed.

I've gone to venues and when it was time to reveal Battlefield Conditions, my opponent says he isn't playing one. Then when I reveal mine, they decide they want to go to their case and pull one out. This is a strict no-no, and call I call them on it every time.

One guy even waited until I put mine down, then said he wasn't going to play one after all, and put it back in his box.

Another guy came with a big stack of BFCs, waited for me to reveal mine, then went through his stack and picked one out. Another strict no-no.

And all these stunts were done by veteran players, but they were all power-gaming cheese monkeys who had a serious lack of sportsmanship to begin with.

The BFCs all have to be revealed at the same time, and no take backs.

Here's something semi-related I've been wondering, what happens if I toss up a Smoke Cloud on the open air on the rooftops map? Does it keep people from falling down?

No. This kind of question was covered when the Space map came out. The square has the properties of both the orange and green terrain.

But you can be like Cephas (Peter) from the Apostolic Scriptures and walk on water. Just put smoke on the water, then walk on it. Just don't lose faith, or the smoke will dissipate.

Gotta love the game mechanics.

That's deep, purple.

Also since we are talking about submerged ... I have found that Stingray makes the perfect generic aquatic soldier. Much better then the atlantean soldier and 1 point cheaper with the submerged feat. What makes him better IMHO is that Stingray has range whereas the atlantean soldier does not.

Then if used with Tempest either t-bolt him to mystics or Batman depending on your opponents team/map.

2 tempest and a namor, all submerged provides a great 400 point team

not only do the tempests have their water power to keep them and namor hidden, they also have charge and 6 range two bolts, incap AND perplex.

its devasating if played right. the fact that anyone who gets close enough to fly in via charge or HSS has to deal with double incappers, mystics and namor at a twenty defense.

sometimes i almost feel bad playing it

I heart this thread. I played a 1000-point Atlantis keyword team at DragonCon and went 1-2 (but one loss was only a single missed attack on two different characters from being an upset win over Sinestro Corps and the other was vs. a cheese team built to take on colossal figs).

I need just one more Submerged feat to run it again the right way.
