Okay boys and girls, here we have 64 Classic Duets, from some of our Favorite Musical Acts, which will be pitted against one another, Match by Match, Round by Round, weeding them all out until they get to the FINAL MATCH, which will have our two favorite Duets face against one another to see which one emerges as Grand Champion of our latest Rock Wars!

As always, this TOC should be voted using a very simple criteria, which song do YOU like more, which do YOU feel you would rather listen to, and which would YOU say is ultimately more deserving to move on. Easy. :)

Pretty basic really. Songs are matched up, you all vote on the one you like more, the winner goes to the Next Round, and we do this over and over again until the Rounds are Over. I do ask that you all give objective opinions and votes here, listening to All songs and arguments here within this TOC with an open mind, beginning to end, and base your honest votes from that.

So without further adieu, why dont we get started with the Next of Many matches to come, in HCRs latest Rock Wars, Favorite Duet!

I now give you:

ISLANDS IN THE STREAM
(Kenny Rogers / Dolly Parton) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMtUxTeDYtY)

vs.

DID YOU EVAH
(Debbie Harry / Iggy Pop) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjejqJVUYOU)

So what say you all. Which of these songs will move onto the Next Round, and which will re-unite just so they can break up again?

One of my least favorite in this TOC vs. one I could very well see (or hope to) winning it all. Not a contest in the least, Islands In The Stream is easily the better and more enjoyable listen for me.

I'll vote D.P. and K.R even though it knocked out one of mine too early last round.

Okay, I just realized that we're in round 2 and I haven't seen Iggy and Kate. Which means that - seriously - no one nominated "Candy." I didn't nominate it myself, because I thought it was such a gimme that *someone* would take care of it.

I am now filled with regret.

So I'm going to close my eyes and pretend that Debbie Harry (who is an extremely vile person if her treatment of her former bandmates at Blondie's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony is any indication) is Kate Pierson (who is an absolute sweetheart). and that "Well Did You Evah" is "Candy." Which leads me to vote for "Well Did You Evah" to advance.

DID YOU EVAH

Man-o-Man did I follow that Blondie link for an hour of my life.
I totally got lost in the 80's.

Or, and this is a stretch here, you can vote for Well Did You Evah as if it was Well Did You Evah (rather than cast a vote for a replacement proxy song that aint even in this match) :p

If it means anything, I looked up Candy (a song I knew after listening to it again here), and while I might have enjoyed it a bit more than Did You Evah (thats a might) it still wouldnt come close to getting my vote over Islands here. :)

Hey, I have an idea...

Next time one of my songs comes up, just pretend that it is either the song that it is or this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP6xPNVB6XY), which I should have nominated, yet somehow managed not to, even though I like it far better than anything I did nominate.
Whichever one you like more. ;)

Go figure.

I like both, and I like the ong Did You Evah, but Iggy and Debbie's version, while a lot of fun, doesn't quite have the magic of the Kenny & Dolly duet

Islands to advance

I can empathize here - as I said earlier real life kept me from being able to throw in nominations of my own and there are some I really regret not getting in myself.

I had nominated "Candy" for a previous Rock Wars (Favorite Song, I guess), so I assumed it was not eligible to be nominated again.
Considering its lack of success (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=191630), it doesn't matter either way.

Yes, I think EN is correct (probably where I heard the song previously to now).
