View Full Version : What do we think of mounted hero's ?
I was just thinking about this and was wondering if anyone thinks there will ever be mounted hero's ?
I mean come on..how cool would a ghostrider on his flaming bike be ? :)
And it's not like there wouldn't be enough figures to fill out a set
logan loves his bike (just imaging him charging someone on it)
Silver surfer has his surfboard
I'm sure the punisher uses a bike sometimes
There's the FF's tiny bathtub kinda planes that merge into 1 big transport thing
The valkury (no clue on how to spell this realy) has a flying horse
(and dreathknight has a black flying horse with a reptile tail i think)
And there's blacknight (or hawkeye in the thunderbolts) who use the atomic steed
not to mention citicens V's v-wing or one of techno's floating platforms
(or even just iceman on one of his icesleds :)
I don't realy know how mounted-rules would work in heroclix ..but i do think they would make some great sculpts and add some new element to the game
....so what do people outthere think ?
should we start a massive petition to wizkids so we can get that awsome ghostrider ? or should i just keep dreaming ? :)

How about a sculpt with 'ol GR on his flaming tired bike poppin' a wheely and a chain in his left hand poised to strike. I would love to see that! Anyway. I would approach his stats something like this. Let's say he has 10 total clicks (not too unreasonable). The first four would represent him on the bike (L/C, High Defense, Invulnerability, Flurry(?), and High Speed) The remaining six would represent him sans transportation (Toughness, Psychic Blast, and Regeneration). Then I could make my "New Fantastic Four" Team (Ghost Rider, Logan, Spiderman, and Hulk - Mr. Fixit Version)!!!!

There're a good half dozen or so good choices for double-base figures without really having to dig:
Ghost Rider on Bike
Hawkeye on Hovercycle
Black Knight I on Winged Horse
Black Knight III on Winged horse or hoverbike
Valkyrie on Winged Horse
there's also some beasts big enough to merit it like:
Devil Dinosaur
Dragon Man
Lockjaw
Brood Aliens
there's also more obscure choices (if none of the previous ones qualify) and some stretches (throw Captain America/Wolverine/Cyclops/Spider-Man on a motorcycle) and other monsters. I could see them doing a lancers-like expansion with one spot for double-base figures per pack, I could see them releasing these figures seperately, I could see them simply getting enlarged bases (maybe MW size) that might work better on the maps, getting crammed onto the normal bases, or never showing up.
Whatever it is, I doubt we'll see it before the first expansion AFTER the unlimited (or similar) set. If we see Ghost Rider in the next expansion - and I expect we will, along with Silver Surfer and Namor - then he'll probably just be on foot.

I don't think it's such a stretch to have Captain America on a motorcycle or even a hoverbike like Hawkeye.
Plus we know we're always going to be getting a Wolverine in every set, so a motorcycle one would just fill another Wolverine slot.
This format also would be good for that Reaver who's lower torso was a tank-track type vehicle (Bonecrusher??).
Devile Dinosaur would be great, but he has to have Moon Boy riding on his back. ;)

What about the 4 horsemen of Apocalypse? They rode those mechanical horses. Then they could do the old and new Ghost Rider (blaze and ketch), then the really old Knight rider (the ghost on the ghost horse).

Edited with my apology:
(Not the worst thing I've read on these boards, but still inappropriate)
:o
Sounds kind of cool as long as they don't make a Spider-Buggy. I'd like to forget that ugly saga in Spidey's life.
See, there's a few, but I don't think enough to fill out a whole set. Not a set that would sell well, for sure.

I doubt they'd have a full set - probably just take the place of the 3/4/5 rarity figures in a set (so probably only 8 of them) and there would only be one per (booster) pack. Presumable, the rest of the set would be normal.
you could dig into the old western heroes and have them on their horses. Like the RawHide Kid. Can't think of the others but I remember I enjoyed that western flash back in Avengers many moons ago which featured them with Hawkeye.
For DC you could do the Wonder Twins with Zanna as a horse and Zan as a puddle. :p

If I ever see the wonder twins in a set I will refuse to buy DC clix ever again. If I see a H.E.R.B.I.E. click for Marvel I will ask for a urine test from the developers at Wiz Kids.
Ramplate: be glad the Mods can't ban you for bad jokes.
Logan: Be not afraid. WizKids, last I heard, was in business to make money. This means they have to produce stuff that we would WANT.
I'd love to see Dragon Man as an oversized figure.
Ghost Rider on his bike is a no-brainer, of course.
I dunno about Cap on a bike, or Hawkeye on his jet bike... I mean, the idea of Cap riding around a battlefield, leaning over and decking someone in passing, somehow, just doesn't ring true. It's like that thread a while back about vehicles -- a Batmobile would be great, but the idea of Batman leaning out and punching someone in passing just... seems... wrong, somehow. It's not something he ever did in the comics. Besides, he could probably hurt 'em worse just by whacking 'em with the driver's side door.
Although... it was pointed out to me recently that in the first movie, Batman did all sorts of fun things with the Batmobile when he wasn't actually IN it. Could be interesting to have a Batmobile figure that could be controlled by the individual Batman figurine... but what would happen when Batman was KO'd?
I do recall a supervillain, Serpent Society guy, who was a snake from the waist down -- Bushmaster, or something like that? They could recycle the old molds from MK Serpent Snipers for part of that... although I'm inclined to wonder if any of us would be all that wild to get Bushmaster figures.
Valkyrie and DreadKnight had flying horses, and often fought from horseback. They'd work. Admittedly, hardly anyone under fifteen or so can REMEMBER those two characters...
Silver Surfer on board is good, right up there with Ghost Rider. If they do Surfy, though, I suspect it'll be as a unique.
Brood aliens weren't really any bigger than humans, except the Queen. Admittedly, the Queen could make a very interesting double-based figure, if they really wanted to... but I can think of other aliens from the Marvel universe I'd rather see in the next set, frankly.
But as far as mounted figures go, I'd happily vote for:
Ghost Rider
Silver Surfer
Valkyrie
DreadKnight
Black Knight
This thread goes just a little too far. I mean younger kids do come here and read this stuff. It doesn't matter if you want to mount your HeroClix figures, just keep it to yourself man.

I think double-based figures should be reserved for clix that you COULDN'T picture without a mount, like Ghostrider. Black Knight would be a good one, and also Valkyrie (although an unmounted version would be good too, she fought on foot alot).
Stuff like the Batmobile, Cap's Van or Motorbike and the (shudder) Spider-Buggy are boondoggles, IMHO. Cap, Spidey and Batman are footsoldiers, first and foremost. I don't like the idea of them fighting from a vehice...it just doesn't go with the characters' personalities (in most of the above cases, the vehicles were strictly for transportation anyway).
As for the Silver Surfer, I don't think that his board neccessarily warrants a double base (think hobgoblin's sled).
my 2 cents on a batmobile..
It would have to be enclosed, forcing bats to get out.. but he wouldnt be able to take damage directly while inside it, so he could drive it around till its about to explode, then jump out and take it to the streets.. or fight hand to hand, get beat up, then hit the batmobile to get away back to alfred
