Somewhere in Latveria a factory explodes, a streak of metal rocketing away from the devastation. A missile? No, an armored figure. He hovers near the explosion site, arms crossed, drenched cloak stuck to his armor. The pouring rain sounds like small caliber bullets bouncing off his suit, but he pays it no mind. If his face weren't hidden, you'd see a triumphant smile forming beneath his mask.

"No robot can defeat me! No force in the universe can stand before Doom! I am victorious at last!"

The dictator's greatest creations, his doombots, circle around him. One steps forward: "Lord Doom--we have a security breach in Sector 183B. Preliminary scans indicate interdimensional travel. ETA to Castle Doom--10 minutes and counting."

The readout shows a stealthy force of heroes running through the night. "They are led by a vigilante known as Batman. He has brought a counterpart from his future that will eventually replace him."

"Silence! Interdimensional travel? Futuristic counterparts? No doubt Kang has heard of my successes and seeks to usurp my power! I will deal with him later, but first--activate primary defense systems. This is an act of terrorism against Latveria! Use lethal force!" The armored man's hidden smile quickly turned to a look of outrage.

"Lord Doom--primary defenses have been disabled. Hostiles have sabotaged our network with no trace of evidence. How shall we proceed?" If a robot could feel fear, this one would.

"Richards! He must have provided the terrorists with national security secrets. My enemies sprout like dandelions all around me, with foolish hopes of overthrowing Doom. I will crush these interlopers personally, in the name of Latveria! Death to Batman, and all terrorist sympathizers! Doom has spoken!"

I always assumed it was elevated, but the lines were off because it's an older map. I'll check the map FAQ and ask around tonight.

Well, you're protected from attacks, but not from targeting. Just checked out the rule, from page 6:

First-round immunity. In the first round of the game,
characters belonging to a player can’t be targeted, knocked back, attacked,
or damaged until the beginning of that player’s first turn. Further, no
characters can be knocked back, attacked, or damaged by opposing
characters during the first round as long as they occupy the square in their
starting area where they were placed at the beginning of the game.

So Lord of Latveria is a go on Round 1. I just need to clarify the elevated terrain thing and I can take a turn.
