Pack up your bats and pull out your golf clubs.:(

Well Done!

You know what cracks me up? The Red Sox fans that complain about the Yankees buying all the talent for their team...

WHEN THEIR TEAM DOES THE SAME ####### THING!

Heck with the big spenders! GO TWINS! :p

As a Yankees fan I say...DAMMIT!

The Angels are so much harder to beat than the sox. They're one of few teams Torre had a losing record against.

Also, I find it funny that a Yankees-Dodgers world series would likely set the record for most viewership ever, while a Rockies-Twins World Series would probably set the record for lowest viewership ever, and both extremes are possible.

Whatever, just because A-Rod makes more money than the entire Twins roster...

...agreed Doom, that's why I fear and respect them so much.
I believe the Angels to be the one team with a mental edge on the
Yankees.

Hoping for a great ALCS!...GO YanKs!

I keep my house warm with the hatred of other teams, and keep it cool in the Summer with the crushed and depressed frigidness of those to lose to the Yankees

When the Yankees win the World Series in a few weeks... will it come with a receipt? :cheeky:

I loathe the Angels. :disappointed: Big bullies always winning the Mariner's division.

Just because we tend to implode after tasting brief early success doesn't mean we don't get a shot, too!

Yeah, it does. :-(

A-Rod eats babies.

Judging from the reception he still gets in Seattle, I'd half-suspect that to be true.

Wow. Thanks for the sympathy.

I'm a Sox fan since 1967. This year's edition simply wasn't that good. Good enough to win 95 games, but not really strong enough for the playoffs. I fully expected the Angels to win, even when the media was promoting the Sox/Angels history as some kind of indication of what to expect this year. --The media always seems to think last year actually means something this year, even sportswriters who've been around long enough to know better.

The Yankees are still the team to beat in the AL, but the Angels have a better chance of doing so than the Sox did. --I'm rooting for them to go all the way, because as a Sox fan, well, I can respect the Yankees but I can't never root for 'em.

OMG maxwing, you sound like that very rare breed of level headed
sports fans that can actually view the big picture of a situation...whether
your team's involved in it or not.

...All respect to you.

It's not my normal experience to deal with Red Sox fans like that...I feel
like we could sit down over a burger and talk about the playoffs rationally
and enjoyably.

All the best...and good luck to your Celtics this season!
(Provided you're a hoops fan too.)

Well put voNvinGeLimeR

As a person who has worked in the Twins press box for 6+ years, the Angels and Yankees are the teams I know it will be an uphill battle at the 'Dome.
This year was unbelievable and magical. Sadly, the Twins lose again to the Yankees.

My vote goes to LA over NY in 6.

See you all at Target Field next season.

See, we're not all so bad. I agree with maxwing though. This years Sox felt like they never really gelled together. Things were good for a while after Victor came over, but the way we played in September left me with almost zero confidence going into the postseason. Still, I hated seeing the team go out that like--I don't think we could have realistically won 3 in a row against the Angels, but getting swept on a blown save by one of the most reliable closers over the last 4 or 5 years definitely smarts a bit.

In any case, I like the Phillies to take the WS again this year...I know there are big questions in that bullpen but if Lee and Hamels can be on form they hardly need one at all

Speaking of bullpens, as much as it crushes my soul to compliment the Yankees, I have to say that the way Girardi is using his young arms out of the pen is brilliant. I always thought Joba should have been kept in the bullpen, he seemed comfortable in the last series, and Phil Coke and Phil Hughes looked pretty good as well. They're gonna be tough to beat.

Ugh. Time to go take a shower and cleanse myself of that last paragraph.

Last Sunday was hard to take --The Sox blew a "won" game, and the Pats lost a game they probably should have won right after.

Picture this though. A good friend of mine is a Yankee fan married to a woman who is a die-hard Red Sox fan. How does that work you wonder?

He tells me that he has to "be careful" around the playoffs --Sunday was probably pretty bad, but now I guess he's in the clear, eh?

Bet she's rooting for the Angels now though, so maybe not.

See the problem is all too often people remember the obnoxious representatives of a team and don't take into account the much larger group of normal fans. I have experienced my fair share of obnoxious Sox and Yankees fans over the years and have learned to ignore them for what they are. We all love baseball so that's what we should try to focus on.
Being a Sox fan myself I totally agree that they weren't really set for a deep playoff run, although I thought they would have put up a better fight than they did. :(
Most of us real fans weren't as taken as much of the media was when the Sox took the first eight games from the Yanks.
