View Full Version : Problem with illustrator/custom dial

I'm fairly computer literate. But I'm having a heck of time trying to get the custom dial to work on Illustrator 10. I got the dial top to work fine. I can't get any boxes to fill in for power colors. Text shouldn't be a problem. I didn't go very far into the dial because I was going by the tutorial from a website Enigma shown somewhere on here.
Can anyone help me out here? Not very familiar with Adobe Illustrator. What am I doing wrong?

I've actually tried both the top and the dial in Photoshop 6
I can do the Numbers no problem, and colors on the dial if I'm careful and don't go out of the lines - but I've not been able to do the top in photoshop.
Sorry that doesn't help you much, but it's the only experience I've had with it
Select the box you wish to change, then choose the eyedropper tool (I) point over the colour you wish it to be and click. Repeat if necessary.
This should work. Any question feel free to ask

Not sure about Illustrator 10, but on my copy of 9.0 you have to use the eyedropper (press I on your keyboard) to select your color from the boxes below, then change over to the fill tool (press K) and fill in the appropriate boxes. Always check to make sure the powers layer (it's called "boites" here, Drashia must be French :)) is not only visible, but unlocked AND active as well. You should be able to see the eyeball symbol next to the layer, but the padlock symbol should be gone, and the layer should be highlighted in the list.
Failing that, I'm not sure what the problem could be, but I'd be glad to help if I can....

Thanks guys. I was just clicking and locking the wrong layer. Makes sense now. I do appreciate it.
