He's the idea of this, I'll write down a name of a famous person, & you write down what role(s) you think they should play, then you write down a famous person.

Vincent D'Onofrio (the Cell, Full Metal Jacket)

Ramplate
02/11/2003, 15:43
Seen FMJ - Still don't know who he is.

Basil Elks
02/12/2003, 14:47
He's the guy who blew his brain's out, after killing the Sarge.
In the Cell, & MIB, he was the bad guy.

SciFiGuy
02/12/2003, 15:43
Tricky... he doesn't really have a "comic-book" look.

I'd say Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.

Other than that, Dr. Strange. He's a little big for the role, but with a 'stache and the right hair, he's definately "trippy" enough for the role.

Basil Elks
02/12/2003, 15:52
cool, I was thinking Apocalypse, but I can see your's too.
Now you name a famous person.

SciFiGuy
02/15/2003, 12:00
Ok, how abooooouut...

Matt LeBlanc. I know, Joey from Friends. Except for "Ed" the monkey movie, he's not a bad actor.

Basil Elks
02/17/2003, 16:11
um..., howabout he could play....Spot?, Gambit?

SciFiGuy
02/18/2003, 15:07
Gambit might be ok. I was thinkin' more along the lines of Hunter Rose / Grendel. Hunter Rose is a suave lady's man, and Grendel likes to play with his victims. I think LeBlanc could pull it off, and have a dark side as well...

Ok, pick an actor... :D

Basil Elks
02/18/2003, 15:24
Belathazaur Getty (Lost Highway, Lord of the Flies)

Ramplate
02/18/2003, 16:37
How about stating a comic book character and letting people say who they would cast? That would be much easier.

USAgent
02/18/2003, 16:43
Vincent D' Nofrio is an easy one, after how he acted in Full Metal Jacket and the Cell and in the Life Story of the writer of conan, Vincent just screams to be Soloman Grundy.

Gambit, should be played by Jason Lee of MallRats fame, the looks the knowhow of comics, he's perfect.

and as for my two cents Brock Lesnar of WWE for Eddie Brock/Venom

SciFiGuy
02/19/2003, 19:17
...B Getty. A little "Sheen"esque, and a little broody (I just looked up his pic on imdb.com).

Either a villian, or a superhero that is outside the law, like Punisher. He might even make a good Loki.

JoFo
02/19/2003, 21:37
Ok, SciFi Guy, put up another name so that the game can keep going. :P

SciFiGuy
02/20/2003, 11:04
All, right.

How about Heath Ledger, from "A Knight's Tale?"

BasilElks, who did you intend for B. Getty?

Basil Elks
02/20/2003, 21:02
*shrugs?* I couldn't think of anyone, I just wanted to put the name down., Hey, maybe he could play Belathazaur, the 2 faced demon that Devil Slayer killed! :D It already has his name, albiet spelled differently.

Djangomank2k
02/20/2003, 21:11
heath ledger? the accents tough to place. but he looks like he could do... Manchester black. from action comics 775. if he could fake british that is. i now hereby nominate the most underrated action hero ever....Michael Biehn(terminator, tombstone, abyss, aliens)

AdamWarlock
02/20/2003, 21:14
Though it's cheesy since he just did a version of it for knight's tale, this other character I have in mind is different enough;

Heath Ledger could be good for Black Knight III (Dane Whitman) though I doubt he'd make the cut for an Avengers movie.

How about trying out... Kieth David on for size

Kieth David stuff of note to recognize him:
GARGOYLES tv cartoon series: Voice of Goliath
John Carpenter's THE THING
PLATOON
REQIUEM FOR A DREAM
NOVOCAINE

Djangomank2k
02/20/2003, 21:16
Keith david in his youth could be max luke cage. easy. hes a smooth pimpm of love!!!

AdamWarlock
02/20/2003, 21:22
I can just picture "the strut" for Kieth David as Luke Cage :-) It's so perfectly Shaft.

CAGE! Hero for Hire, baby.

Djangomank2k
02/20/2003, 21:23
any thought on michael biehn?

SciFiGuy
02/21/2003, 11:54
Michael Biehn...

D@mn, he could play just about anything, from the Punisher to a more mature Spiderman.
My guess, though, would be Cable. Not sure why...

You know, the more I think about Brock Lesnar, the more I think he would make a great Venom. He has the right build, and I think his voice sounds like the Eddie Brock that I'd imagine.

Basil Elks
02/24/2003, 12:55
Brock Lesnar I think could play:
the Thing
the Rhino
the Abomination
or the Juggernaut

SWTony
02/24/2003, 13:39
Prior to the XMen movie, I always pictured the perfect Wolverine as none other than... Glen Danzig! He's short (Under 5'10"), built like a brick wall, and had the whole sideburn thing going YEARS ago. Just my .02...

Tony

Basil Elks
02/25/2003, 13:57
Christopher Walken

The_Spider44
02/25/2003, 14:07
east the 'Maggia' mafia leader from Spidey titles of ole,

Basil Elks
02/25/2003, 14:57
I was thinking Mr.Sinister, or Dr. Doom

as for Wolverine I always thought that Brett Hart should play him, 'cause they're both Canadian, & they're both the best there is at what they do.

SciFiGuy
02/25/2003, 15:03
Here's one...

Tony Shaloub

Basil Elks
02/26/2003, 12:13
How about Emplate?

SciFiGuy
02/26/2003, 13:47
I was thinking more like Dr. Strange...

Who's Emplate?

And let's do Crispin Glover, while we're at it.

Basil Elks
02/26/2003, 14:14
Emplate is a Gen X villian, & M's brother.

SciFiGuy
02/28/2003, 12:49
Ahhh. Ok.

Anyone on Crispin Glover?

AdamWarlock
02/28/2003, 13:04
Emplate: The casting job really doesn't matter so much since he's so highly made up and deformed. It could be anybody or pure CGI and just have an actor on board for voice talent. I'd like to see Brad Dourif (Voice of Chucky; played Grima wormtongue in LOTR2) do this; he could just do the voicework (he does good creepy, raspy voices like I always picture emplate having) or be put into the gigantic weirdo costume for it and nobody would really ever notice.

TONY SHALHOUB could really get the personality down to a science to play MERV PUMPKINHEAD if they ever did a Sandman movie. He does surreal, he can be crazy aggresive and he can just be crazy. Another one that'd mainly be voicework though...

CRISPIN GLOVER... hmm... thar be a tricky one, mmhmm. I could see him, with a dye-job on the hair, as a grown-up PYRO, but since they're doing some lame kiddie version in the X-men movies that's out of the question... hmm... he'd be great for the normal guy semi-main character in Ennis & Winslade's GODDESS series if they ever wanted to make that into a movie, though it'd be just another typecast squirmy pathetic guy for Glover's already impressive profile in that category.

Next actor up at bat for you all to try:

ROBERTO BENIGNI (snicker)

SciFiGuy
02/28/2003, 14:14
For Tony Shaloub, I was thinking of Dr. Strange.

For Crispin Glover, I was thinking of a creepy, scrawny villain, like Scarecrow or Hobgoblin. He might even make a good Joker...

Wow, Roberto Benigni?!?!?!?

Uh...Red Skull? Roberto has a terribly thick Italian accent (they even dubbed Pinnochio with American actors), so he'd HAVE to play a foriegn character. He could be one of the Hydra villians (I don't have my Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe copies with me, so I can't remember who's all in Hydra, but I remember a lot of international types were in Hydra).

Basil Elks
02/28/2003, 14:24
Paul Adrian, or is it Adrian Paul? (Highlander series, & Tracker series.)

skeevo666
02/28/2003, 14:30
just a quick note to say Keith David has already played one superhero. He was the voice of Spawn in the HBO cartoon ;)

Hmmmm, Adrian Paul. Don't know him that well. I'll just say The Swordsman (from the Avengers) since he's already done the trainin from being in Highlander.

Basil Elks
02/28/2003, 14:42
I was thinking maybe the Punisher, or Moon Knight, but Sword's Man is good too.

AdamWarlock
02/28/2003, 15:03
Good choice on Swordsman; I just hope to god that if and when they make an Avengers movie (which I doubt they will since it would require such a high budget to make all those neat characters) that they leave Swordsman out of it...

SciFiGuy
02/28/2003, 17:47
Ok, ok, he's done a couple of comical (not comic book) superheroes before - Blankman and HandiMan - and he's a fellow comic freak :

Damon Wayons.

Discuss amongst yourselves, I feeling a little verklempt...

AdamWarlock
03/01/2003, 11:52
Damon Wayans has the whole "I am so wonderful" thing going strong for himself, so I think he'd do a good job of playing "THe Spike" from X-Force/X-Statix, NOT the X-men: Evolution cartoon.

Actually no, as a comic actor, I think he could be a great TURK in Daredevil 2. Turk, for those who may be unaware, is not a racial slur here but a recurring "thug" informant Daredevil would beat up every few months for information in the 80's, really funny guy. He still shows up every now and then. Once he stole Stilt Man's costume (god stilt man is pathetic) and got beaten by DD even more easily than Stilt Man usually does.

IMHO, Tony Shaloub (sp?) and Roberto Benigni should stay as far away as possible from Marvel properties. I only say this b/c I personally can't stand either of them. (JUST AN OPINION! DON'T FLAME ME!)

Oh, y'know that Vincent D'Onofrio guy (the baddie in the original MIB)? A friend of mine told me a few months back that that guy was in another movie where he played Thor! He said it was some kinda babysitting movie, and the babysitter loved comics and had a huge crush on Thor, and he was in some kinda dream sequence. Dunno exactly how valid that is, so I'm researching it right now. I'll post back ASAP.

03/01/2003, 12:44
Whew, that was fast!

Okay, found it! It's "Adventures in Babysitting" (1987). Anyone feel like sacrificing 2 or so hours of their lives to check it out? Even better, anyone seen it yet?

Basil Elks
03/03/2003, 12:21
Steven Grives (king Zad, from Beast master TV series)

USAgent
03/03/2003, 16:29
Tony Shaloub is already in two comic book movies movies MIB and MIB2.

As for Kieth David ya gotta think outside the spectrum, think tall, deep voice, scary, Mephisto or possibly Blackheart.

Michal Biehn, big fan of him even if i can't spell his name. He is perfect for USAgent, a much harder, darker Capt. America.

As for Capt. America, the lead actor on that show JAG, dont watch the show but he has the look and the walk.

My original choice for Doc Oct was none other than Elton John ok ok i know its an odd choice but just look at him, and he isnt exactly young they couldve done the whole Aunt May relationship thing.

Roberto Benigni that is a toughie, i came up with Impossible Man or even Mixlplix.

AdamWarlock
03/03/2003, 19:56
Benigni as Impossible Man WOULD be absolutely hilarious; though the accent would greatly hinder the performance :-P

Call me stupid, but I can actually see Heath Ledger playing Batman or another dark hero.

Heath's got some great range for a young actor. I recommend viewing 'Two Hands', '10 Things I hate About You', 'The Patriot' and 'Roar: the TV series'

Basil Elks
03/04/2003, 12:04
what about my guy?

SciFiGuy
03/04/2003, 15:08
Stephen Grives:

Wow, he's a creepy lookin' sumumugun, kinda leathery-skinned, too. He's make a good Lizard, but I don't remember what Dr. Conners looked like. Other possibilities would be Clayface, Red Skull, or Skrull Commander (I know, I'm not digging too deep, just using HC figures... ).

How about Kurt Russell. There is a character I think he'd be PERFECT for, but he probably wouldn't do it, because it's too close to another character he's already portrayed... ;)

How about a REAL Nick Fury? With that eye patch from Escape from NY (call me snake) and a short haircut, he'd be great.

How about Nicholas Brendan (BtVS)

Basil Elks
03/05/2003, 12:22
I think that "Xander" could maybe play Werewolf by night.
I was thinking that my choice could probably play Starr, from Preacher, or maybe Baron Strucker.

Basil Elks
03/06/2003, 14:11
Arnold Vosloo (Imotep, from both the Mummy movies)

GluttonCreeper
03/06/2003, 14:27
i think johm sniener(misspelled im sure) from smallville would make a kick ### hal jordan green lantern. ps not the young dukes of hazzard version , but the rugged older version.

Basil Elks
03/11/2003, 15:25
for my guy I was thinking that he'd make a good
Vision, or Martian Man Hunter, or Mr. Sinister, or Apocalypse (at least the voice), & the voice of Ultron.

Basil Elks
03/11/2003, 18:43
cast Johnny Depp

maddog
03/11/2003, 18:51
While we are on this thread, who would you like to see play John Constantine BESIDES the already cast Keanu Reeves? I think Heath Ledger would do a good job, but he might be a little young for the role. The Keanu Reeves call is a cruel joke.

maddog
03/11/2003, 18:54
Johnny Depp = Nightwing
He is an outstanding actor, he could do any number of roles well.

Basil Elks
03/14/2003, 16:53
Skeet Ulrich (Scream 1, the Craft)
hey, I put Johnny Depp down, now let's put "the poor man's Johny Depp", down. It's not my quote. ;)
