Here are three Asgardian-oriented comic book plots. Two are real. One is fake. Which is the fake?

1) Odin comes to Earth to give Thor a good talking to about being in love with a mortal, leaving Loki in charge in Asgard. Loki releases a storm giant and the fire demon Surtur and sends them to Earth to destroy Odin and Thor. Balder comes to Earth to warn the Asgardians of the danger. Odin teleports the human race to another dimension while he, Thor and Balder confront the two monsters in Manhatten. The three gods manage to just barely defeat their powerful enemies. Odin returns the human race to Earth and heads back to Asgard, banishing Loki as a punishment for his rebellion.

2) The goddess Sif is leading a contingent of Asgardian warriors on a patrol near the land of the trolls. They are ambushed--the warriors are killed and Sif is captured. The Troll King decides to wed her, but the night before, she manages to lure a guard close to her cage (promising him a "kiss" if he comes close) and knock him out, getting the keys to the cage's lock. She heads back to Asgard, but the Troll King releases a trio of small "hunting dragons" to bring her to heel. Sif battles the dragons valiently, slaying two of them and forcing the third to act as her mount. She flies back to Asgard, leaving a frustrated Troll King behind.

3) The Warriors Three are on Earth helping Thor out with a mission, but find themselves with enough free time for a night on the town. Their plans to party are interrupted when Fandrall must pause to rescue a woman about to leap to her death from a rooftop. They learn the man she loves is about to be killed by loan sharks and she was killing herself in despair because she thinks he is doomed.

The Warriors Three track the man down (a task that involves a bar brawl against a dozen or so thugs). They find him in the nick of time to save him from the loan sharks. The mobsters are subdued and turned over to the police. The Asgardians wake up a Justice of the Peace to get the guy and his girl married.

I am thinking #1 is fake. I know squat about Thor stories, but it seems an afully casual use of Sutur. Plus the other two sound right-on.

We'll see if I can still read yoru mind, or if I used up today's allotment of power on 20 Questions.

I have ruled out the first one as I remember it from those Marvel cartoons that starred Thor or Subby or Cap or Iron Man or the Hulk. They used to show them on Dr. Max after school was out.

I'm thinking it's number two as the third one seems vaguely familiar.

I'll post the correct answer about 2:30 pm. Anyone else who wants to play as till then to post an answer.

#1 sounds pretty dumb. So it's probably real.

#3 sounds pretty Marvel. So also real.

#2 seems like it would be an off-day for a particular comic, and thus doesn't seem likely.

I'm going to say #3 is the impostor. It just feels off.

So far, we have 1 vote for #1; 2 votes for #2; and 1 vote for #3.

Deadline is still 2:30 Eastern Time.

Igantz did indeed use his mental powers up in 20 questions, as he is WRONG today. But reddyeddy and Thawmus are both correct. #2 is the fake.

#1 is from Journey into Mystery #104. Surtur had been introduced in a Tales of Asgard back-up a few months earlier and this is his first appearance in a regular tale. As anyone who reads the regular every-Wednesday entries detailing the History of the Marvel Universe at my blog (comicsradio.blogspot.com) would readily know!!!!!

#3 is from Marvel Spotlight #30 from about 1978. Really fun story.

Congratulations to the winners. You each get $1,000,000 (spendable only in the Marvel 616 universe, of course).

Now that's just wrong as I'm sure that Doc Ock or the Kingpin would just take it from me as soon as I showed up.

Not only did I have it wrong, but #3 was my second pick. Well done, Kalel! You've got me out of your brain (even if I could tell Linus was your favorite Peanuts character from ver 1000 miles away).
