View Full Version : Clix vs. Comix 2 (111-120): The Leader vs. Deadman

I was playing Heroclix the one day and I looked at my selection and realized that U HT Batman and R IC Hulk both cost the same amount of points. This got me thinking. Just because they are Heroclix equals doesn’t translate back translate back to comics. I think most of us would agree that Hulk could beat Batman in a fight.

That is the idea for this tournament. Every entry will be close to the same amount of points Heroclix wise, but this will be their comic forms fighting!

Rules:
This will be a standard single elimination tournament with 32 combatants. There will be 2 to a fight. They get no knowledge of each other (unless they have fought in the past). The only thing they get is the Heroclix figure of there enemies and their character cards (if the figure does not have a card, assume there was a custom one made). They will have 5 minutes to prepare. This is a fight to the death or KO, whichever happens first, and they must fight (no waiting for the opponent to die of starvation). They have with them what they normally carry and what there fig has if it is different. (Like how Bullseye doesn’t carry a gun, but he has one on the fig).

Forest: A thick wooden forest, small paths wind around dense foliage. Each tree looks just like the last, and it may be a little hard to navigate through.

(Defense) Minions of the Leader: The Leader can use Mastermind and Toughness. When the Leader uses Mastermind, he can treat any friendly character 4 or fewer squares away to which he has a clear line of fire as if it were adjacent.

(Attack) Possession: Give Deadman a power action and make a close combat or a ranged combat attack (as if he has a range value of 4) against an opposing target character as a free action. A successful attack deals no damage. Instead, remove Deadman from the battlefield and put him on his character card; the target is possessed, becomes friendly to your force and opposing to its owner's force, and any of the target's canceled powers return.
After the resolution of any action given to the target, you can release the target. Remove all actions tokens from the target and place Deadman in any unoccupied square within 4 squares to which the target has a clear line of fire. The target becomes friendly to its owner's force and opposing to your force.
If the target is possessed at the end of your turn, roll a d6 and add 1 to the result for each 100 points (or fraction thereof) of the target's point value. If the result is 6 or more, the target is released. If the result is 5 or less, deal Deadman 1 unavoidable damage.
Each time the possessed target takes damage, deal Deadman 1 unavoidable damage after the action is resolved. Any effect that can counter the target's powers can counter Deadman's Possession. If Deadman is eliminated or Possession is countered or canceled, the target is immediately released. Deadman and possessed characters can't be targeted by Mind Control or Possession.
This power cannot be cancelled

Okay, can The Leader do anything to Deadman? Generally even mentalists can't tell Boston's there, only mystics. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I'm going to say the Leader stands there looking stupid until Deadman possesses him and runs him headfirst into trees until he's unconscious.

I feel like Batman 1Mil could arguably have some sort of gadget to detect him. We'll have to wait and see who else is in this cut. Dr. Strange comes to mind.

Batman 1M digitally extracted Bruce's 'soul', and can also make digital copies of himself to do stuff, so yea.

This time, however? I'm voting Brand.
