View Full Version : Bat-Buddies: 100 per week ramp up?

The Thursday night venue is increasing (unrestricted) build point totals by 100 points per week until HoT is released. We started last week at 200, and I was thinking it might be neat to try to simply add the points to the figures I already used each week.

The team I used at 200 was:

120 AA Batman
+8 Protected
+5 Lunge
66 AA Robin

Now note a couple of things:

1) The Judge has decided that Lunge cannot be used before each Flurry attack. It's really pointless to argue with him, as he isn't the type to 'look stuff up' or seek consensus, so I will probably toss Lunge. I'd keep it knowing that a couple other players would allow me to play it the accepted way...but we have new players I'd rather not confuse and at least one player that will cry if it isn't nerfed when used by anyone else.

2) I don't mind that every other player will expect to build teams that nerf Bat Allies, etc. The worst thing that happens is I go into the losers bracket and have to take a bye.

3) Protected on Batman is non-negotiable...unless I replace it with Lazarus Pit. :devious:

I like the idea of giving "Arkham Asylum" a decent send-off now that HoT will be soon to arrive on Midgard, and other than that Batman, I haven't given the Bat-Allies much (if any) play time. It's been mostly Rogues, Suicide Squad, LSV...so here is my chance to play them out.

So with all that out of the way, what are your suggestions for the next 100 points? Here are some ideas I am partial to:

(A) AA SR Batgirl + AA Captain Gordon (with 6 points leftover). I haven't used either, and I haven't had the Batgirl very long.

(B) CR Nightwing + Vet Spoiler (with 5 points left over). I've never used CR Nightwing, and I don't think Spoiler has been on a team of mine since Legacy sealed events.

(C) Alpha Oracle +2xICWO (Batman, Robin) and LE Alfred (2 points left over)


(A) is basically relegating Batgirl to be primary tie-up, with Captain Gordon trying to offer limited mobility...if he can get close enough to the action, and not have two tokens.

(B) offers me the chance to see if Nightwing can hang while Batman is on the board...and Spoiler is mobile enough to share double-duty with Robin on tie-up. I just worry about breaking Invulnerability.

(C) is simply juicing up the 200 point team, offering Batman some additional snipe protection (ESD from Alpha-Oracle) at the cost of delaying the start of my game....I dislike this option since I can easily imagine playing every game on the Great Arena being surrounded by Outwit/Perplex/Range 8+ figures.

Any suggestions?

I'd think the Nightwing option would be great to add next week followed by the Batgirl Capt Gordon after that.

Plus you can use the five points from lunge and the remaining five points to place Stunning Blow on Robin, other than that I'd try Oldschool Flashbang on Robin.

You could also add two Bat-chickies -- the 30-point Batgirl from Alpha and the 70 point Batgirl (Cassie) from Crisis.

Batgirl from Alpha is a great tie-up piece that usually lasts much longer than she should for me, and of course Cassie is a butt-kicking machine.
