Hey, this is my first time posting questions here so please be gentle :)

Ok so we played a game over the weekend and two seperate questions came up...

First was about SI Doom. His Damage SP reads:

POWERLESS: Doom can use Outwit. When Doom uses Outwit, he can use it normally, or choose to counter all powers or all abilities of a target character 6 or fewer squares away.

So does that mean all of the powers that are showing on the dial at the time that Powerless is used, or is it all of the powers even if the character is attacked and the dial changes to new abilities and powers.

Second is about the starter set Mr Fantastic and using Brilliant Tactician. The prereq for Brilliant Tactician is Outwit and Perplex. I've seen all over the boards where people say to use it on Mr Fantastic but he doesn't have "perplex" but a special ability that allows him to use perplex. His SP reads:

INVENTIVE GENIUS: Mr. Fantastic can use Perplex, but he can modify the target's combat values by +2 or -2 if he is targeting himself of another character with which he shares a keyword.

The debate during the game was that Mr Fantastic doesn't have the Perplex prereq but a SP that says he can use perplex. My question would be, is having perplex and having a SP that allows you to use perplex the same thing?

It is all of the powers, showing or not. The first one like this was Emperor Joker from JL.

He can use BT with his Perplex.

Page 19: "If a character can use a power or ability via a special power or ability, it can be assigned a feat with that power or ability as a prerequisite, but it must be able to use the power or ability on its own."

Can he affect Power Cosmic or Quintessance figures? I think not, but I'm second guessing myself.

Here's a question that came up this week:

Does Doom need LOF to use his special outwit?

nbperp ruled it that he didn't...Doom can Outwit you with Lord of Latveria whether he can see you or not.

No he didn't. It's right in the player's guide.

#040 Doom
• When using Powerless to counter all powers or all abilities, Doom must still draw a line of fire to the target.

Special powers ONLY changes the things that they specifically mention.

Would Doom outwit stealth if it was within his 6 range?

You're getting your Dooms mixed up, buddy. :)

You're talkin' about the Dr. and they're talking about Doom.

Since he needs to be able to target the character being Outwitted, if they are actively using Stealth and not visible to Doom, then he cannot target them with his "super"-Outwit.

Ugh. Embarassing that.

In that case the answer would be "No, you can't Outwit what you can't see with Mystic Doom". I remember that ruling too.
