View Full Version : Rebasing Horrorclix

I'm haven't taken the plunge to really mod stuff but I'm interested in new sculpts. I noticed the other day that Irradiated Zombie would make a great Radioactive Man (or at least I think that was his name- he faced the Flash in a graphic novel I read a while back).

Sooo...Does anyone have suggestion for horrorclix that would make great Superheros/villians with minimal effort?

I'm sure there is a ton of em.

I'm actually trying to cobble together some Mage Knight figs into a Cerebus mod.

When I stop being lazy, that is...

I made the basic set Werewolf into Merle, the hillbilly wolfman from the Goon comic

Popped him off his base and rebased him on Hyena Vet

Since I no longer have any connection to horrorclix, my entire collection just became mod fodder

Except for the Zombies. I have ideas for HC scenarios!

I have used several Horrorclix sculpts for mods, such as the base set Scarecrow for Marvel's 70s horror character (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/album.php?albumid=27&pictureid=812)of the same name--but the "minimal effort" part doesn't work.

Nice one there! What dial was that, though?

A search came up with Karnak.

Really?

In all honesty, I don't remember. I did that a couple of years ago, and like about 95% of my mods it was a commission for someone else, who selected the combat dial he wanted. I don't recall what he chose for the Scarecrow.

Really?

Could be. How the heck did you search that from what little of the dial stats were visible in the picture?

Could be. How the heck did you search that from what little of the dial stats were visible in the picture?

The stats and using Units:

I input 8 for Speed value and Charge for the power.

11 for Attack value.

It was an Unique.

So I input all that: lo and behold a list of those figures came up then I noticed the figure was #88 and I just simply looked for #88 on the list.

KARNAK!

I'm just saying since Karnak is one of the most killer clix out there and whether it was justified for a 70's Marvel villain that looks like a...Scarecrow.

Research time!

Marvel's Scarecrow (the horror character from Dead of Night #11 and Marvel Spotlight #26) was a very formidable being. If Karnak is that good a combat dial, it's probably a very good fit indeed. (Bear in mind, I don't actually play the game.)

Oh, you don't?!?

Wow, what dedication you have towards modding, then!

I enjoy it. I've been doing it for many years; I started out with larger action figures (and you can click the eBay link in my sig to see a current example of my action figure modding). I found the small HeroClix a greater challenge. I really enjoy the process of making a mod.

I have two. The first is a Shaggy Man mod from a HrC Sasquatch:

The other is a Henry Pym Mod which has Ant Man riding on a Flying Ant. The Ant was made from an Insect Man's head on Chameleon Boy's body.

I keep reading this thread as Freebasing Horrorclix, which just adds a whole new level to the concept of plastic crack.

Vat grown clone would make a good head for Darwin.

I actually put the Predators on HeroClix dials. I can't remember who was what (since I'm at work), but I know I used Black Panther, Shang-Chi, Shadow Thief, and Ronin. Again, I'd have to check later to see who all I used on which dials. I think it came out to close to either 400 or 600 points.

I've also taken the Blood Demon and put him on a V Vindicator dial (he loses the 10 range and Avengers TA basically), as well as putting the Probe Alien on Asp dials. After all, she has stealth, TA phasing, and Psychic Blast...which we all know is penetrating damage. Yeah, Exploit would have been better...

I haven't done this yet, but I have really wanted to get the Scrubber horrorclix pieces en mass and make them BPRD cleanup crewmen for a hellboy team.

I'm going to print them off and stick them to common figure dials and just have it so I can swap them out so I can still use them as Horrorclix figs.

you use a point calculator or something to do those dials?

They're just straight interpretations of the Horrorclix powers.

All of the Predators are 65 points.

Puuka, you plan on doing the Aliens? This looking SWEET. I'm so printing out those dials!

I asked flatmatt to make me a LSH Light Lass (http://home.comcast.net/%7Eflatmatt/mods/dc/lightlass.html) based on the candy striper, as I wanted a version of Ayla that was showing some "leg"!

I think that the Unique "Athena" would make either a good replacment Danger (X-Men) or as the basis for an Engineer (Authority)

The Carnage Bots' tentacles seem like a natural fit for a Doc Ock mod.

Most of the "Animals" (Tigers, Velociraptors, Winged Monkeys) would be good mod-fodder. I think the Bears and Gorillas are a tad gruesome for use in Heroclix.

I don't know if anyone started an X-babies mod squad, but there is a 'duo' of a couple of kids on roughly the same scale as Power Pack and the first class Teen Titans.

That piece is Monster Hunters and I used the boy with the slingshot to make Bartman from the Simpsons.

Just got the Santa SR (can't believe I missed the Zombie Reindeer when I ordered :( ) and am debating what dial to put him on. Thought about Odin but I don't think so anymore. I plan on teaming him with McFarlane's Jack Frost on an Anti-Monitor dial (likely the 600 version) and building a Christmas team (Clockwork Santa MK is also on the way). Really not sure what St. Nick should be on, but I'd like it to be HC legal.

Then again, maybe I should just make the custom dial with his SP:

Naughty or Nice: Santa Claus may use Enhancement. Damage from Santa Claus ignores damage reducers.

I'm also looking at doing a "Dinosaur" theme team using the Animal keyword.
Devil Dino, Sauron, Gert & Old Lace and then putting the E Cheetah (Icons @ 45) and V Lizard @ 50 points.

Now, the E and V Raptors from Horroclix are also 45 and 50 points, with no team abilities, I'm just going to swap them out too (probably just the dials if the Judge will allow it) Only difference would be that I would lose the Aquatic movement on Lizard.

Other wise, it gives me 22 points for feats on a 400 point team. (I think that's what it worked out to)

I've used some HorrorClix as mod-fodder, esp. when I'm making clickable bystander dials.

Evil Leprechaun - hat + green stuff = Oberon
Pyromaniac - ring of fire = Franklin Richards
Ghost Finder + extra head from other 'Clix (x4) = Challengers of the Unknown

All required repainting, 'natch.

I'm also planning a giant-size Wasp from 50-Foot Ex-Girlfriend, and an in-scale Sasquatch/Tanaraq from Giant.

Here are some options without need to mod, or rebase (80% compatible);

http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=77&pictureid=8359
Street Samurai - generic, vigilante or henchman.
Luchador - 3 armed, giant, mutant, masked wrestler (I toned down the gore).
Vallerie Elle -metallic hair colored chic on a motorcycle with an uzi, vigilante.
Pride Warriors - female cat-people, aliens or mutants.
Monster Patrol - 2 kids fighting a good fight, a young Wendy & Marvin?
50 Foot Girlfriend - supervillain-ess.
Kuranes - hobo hero, golden age Vagabond (Timely Comics).
Tatooed Man / Abel Terror - DC's Tatooed Man, Abel Tarrant.
