Hi all

I just started playing this game and I really like it. I got a skrull in one of my boosters and while I don't know what these guys are, they reminded me of one of my all time favorite characters... GOBLINS! Since I always like to collect figs by faction I was wondering if trying to acquire loads of skrulls would be a good idea? The one skurll I got wasn't all that strong so do they have some powerhouses? Since there really aren't any rules in this game to promote swarming how could these guys hurt someone like the Hulk?. Thanks for any help.

Ah, Skrulls. They are an alien race that can shape change (thus their team ability). They have appeared a lot in the Fantastic Four and Captain Marvel (Captain Marvel was/is? a Kree, another race of aliens who were/are? at war with the Skrulls).

There is only one heavy hitter for the Skrulls so far: CT Unique Super Skrull. He is a great figure, but in general Skrulls are weak. They have two different generic ranged attack figures (Agents and Warriors) and one generic close combat figure (Commando). There are also LE figures of each of these three generic types (Agent - Nenora, Warrior - Raksor, Commando - Paibok). The regular figures have no super powers. The first two LE figures have a click of EE. Paibok has some Toughness.

On the whole the Skrulls are fun, but they do not compare well to the other two main generic factions, SHIELD and Hydra. Both SHIELD and Hydra have Medic figures and a Unique figure and an LE figure with Leadership. This helps them out a lot. SHIELD is strongest right now since it has the most unit types (EE figures, RCE figures, Support figures, Toughness+TK+Incapacitate figures, and cheap fodder).

I truely hope the Skrulls get additional figures. At least add one with Leadership. That would make a 200 point Skrull team led by Super Skrull more viable.

There are four different Skrull characters to date.

Skrull Warrior
Skrull Agent
Skrull Commando
Super Skrull

The first three are your basic generic Skrull, grunts in the army, if you will. They are not overly powerful as reflected in their lower stats and point cost. They have little chance of taking out the Hulk as each attack applies it's damage seperately.

The last one is a Unique figure from Clobberin' Time. He's very powerful and a nice fig to field.

To date, these are the only Skrulls produced. There might be more generics produced in the future (hopefully one with leadership and a flying version) but that's pure speculation.

I personally love the Skrulls. I hope future versions will have some super powers (Outwit and Perplex seem like good candidates). They need more mid-range pieces to help make a full-Skrull army.

Skrulls (or Skrull, as the case may be) are most likely to be found hanging around (well, actually cowering in the corner behind some blocking terrain) figures with the Minions of Doom team ability, as the MoD guys can copy the Skrull ability, so one time in six, you can't actually attack them.

Other than that? Skrulls aren't particularly useful, and if you need a cheap figure to round out a team, the Hydra and SHIELD units generally take up those slots.

Thanks for the help guys. I still think I,ll have a try at making an all Skrull army IF I can get a super skrull... but with my luck I guess he's worth like 25$ (geez, my favorite hero is Nightcrawler, a hero that not many people love that much, but just because I love him they made him a unique worth 50$).

Closer to $10-15. Super-Skrull is actually a powerhouse for the Skrulls, and helps make up for the fact that they’re so weak otherwise.

Still, don’t underestimate the power of the Skrull army. Commandos are useful tie-up pieces – they have no range, but they’re fast with 8 movement, 2 damage, and 5 clicks of life for under 20 points. Veteran Skrull Warriors are nasty, with 8 range, 2 damage, and a decent attack rating. Put in a leadership piece (Kingpin works well) and they cause a lot of trouble with their swarm attacks. You’ll never use an all-Skrull army to take out the Avengers in a 500-point game, but in a 200-point game they can do a lot.

I regularly play Skrull armies and drive my friends nuts ("I'm going to shoot that one." "Nope, I got a 6. Pick another one.")

They definitely do need some support to make them viable against more powerful figures. I do this by using other figures that work as Skrulls. I'll throw in a Changeling (who is actually somewhat useful on this team) - how can you argue against using a green shapeshifter? I use a rookie Plastic Man (shapeshifting again, and his Perplex lets your Skrulls actually hurt someone with Invulnerability). Since they don't have a taxi-figure I use a Jean Grey as a Skrull Jumpmaster (she's not TKing them, she's giving them little jump-jet backpacks ;)). Vet Sandman is another one who I've used. Another shapeshifting character, Spidey-team ability lets him be a Skrull, all around useful. Heck, we even painted up a Darkseid in Skrull colors to be the General for large-point teams.

Hopefully there will be some more named Skrulls in the future like Skrull-X, Paibok the Power Skrull (no, not the LE Commando named Paibok) and Lyja Laserfist. Actually, the last one is a shoe-in, since she was a FF member too and they need more figs. Hope she has Shape Change on whatever r/e/v form is FF team. :)

And hopefully we do not see Cadre-X or whatever they were called (skrull mutants led by Xavier. Ugh)

Isn't there a renagade Skrull with TP powers? I kinda remember she nearly killed the FF and forced the temporary creation of the New Fantastic Four (Spiderman, Grey Hulk, Ghost Rider and Logan). In clix form I suppose she would have a few clicks of Mind Control and maybe Mastermind and Outwit. Aside from her, what other potential non-weakling, non-generic Skrulls are there?
