Okay boys and girls, here we have 128 Classic Songs from the 50's and 60's, from some of our Favorite Musical Acts, which will be pitted against one another, Match by Match, Round by Round, weeding them all out until they get to the FINAL MATCH, which will have our two favorite 50s/60s songs face against one another to see which one emerges as Grand Champion of our latest Rock Wars!

As always, this TOC should be voted using a very simple criteria, which song do YOU like more, which do YOU feel you would rather listen to, and which would YOU say is ultimately more deserving to move on. Nothing to do with Classic or not, this is based on personal preference, YOURS. :)

Pretty basic really. Songs are matched up, you all vote on the one you like more, the winner goes to the Next Round, and we do this over and over again until the Rounds are Over. I do ask that you all give objective opinions and votes here, listening to All songs and arguments here within this TOC with an open mind, beginning to end, and base your honest votes from that.

I know we all believe we know all of these songs already, but as always I ask that you please listen to them again with each new match before voting. Thanks all. :)

So without further adieu, why dont we get started with the Next of Many matches to come, in HCRs latest Rock Wars, Favorite 50s / 60s Song!

I now give you:

SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME
(The Drifters) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4jINDaWKzA)

vs.

OH, PRETTY WOMAN
(Roy Orbison) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rlB_q6lJ5A)

So what say you all. Which of these songs will move onto the Next Round, and which will fade away back to the time they came?

Ouch. Tough one just because it's two songs I'd not thought that much about.

Like 'em both but will vote for 'Save the Last Dance' because I suspect 'Pretty Woman' will get a lot more love. A lot.

Pretty Woman's a fine song, but that Latin beat does it for me every time. Of all the songs I nominated, I think this one's my favorite, so I'm certainly voting Save the Last Dance for Me

Going to have to wait, the realmsquake earlier made it impossible for me to listen to songs.

If this was Under the Boardwalk by The Drifters versus Orbison's Crying, I'd have to roll the dice, but it's not and in this one I'm going with Save the Last Dance for Me. I always loved that song and it's simple yet heartfelt message.

Ooooh, a toughie! I love both songs, but Save The Last Dance For Me is too beautiful not to advance!

Elvis was quoted as saying Orbison had the best voice around (paraphrasing)

SAVE THE LAST DANCE FOR ME
(The Drifters)

Just so everyone knows, I do not look at what has been voted for before I cast my vote!
Untill after I vote!

Oddly enough I thought I was going to like the voice from The Drifters more than I actually did, good song, could have been better with a smoother voice. Ill go with Oh Pretty Woman to win here, as its just more my kinda song.

Seems like I could spend every match of this ToC raving about the studio mastery that created these recordings. The strings in "Save the Last Dance" are incredible, and I was going to mention the castanets, but then I realized that I was mentally inserting them (listen to enough Spector recordings, and you start hearing them everywhere). That said, gotta go with Roy here. Oh, Pretty Woman to advance.

Man I knew I was gonna enjoy this Rock Wars Genre but didnt realise it was gonna be this tough to vote. Once again really like both of these - slightly favoured towards Pretty Woman - so it gets my vote.
