Question about Willpower!!

I didnt know if this was the place to post this but o well.

What kind of characteristics give a character willpower. What makes batman, doc. oct, arthur curry, clay quartermain, dr.doom red skull, ect. special enough to get willpower. I just want to know what a character is like to get willpower and why some other characters don't have it. I have been thinkin aboot this for awhile and i am just curious. Please post and tell me your thoughts.

Well, I'm not as up on most of the DCer's but I would say its the characters that get beaten and still keep coming. Against the odds so to speak. I think a lot of others could have qualified if they didn't have other powers in WPs place. Take Doom for example. The classic cover of him ripped to shreds from trying to take the Beyonder's power. He won't quit until he's dead. I think Batman is a great representation of this power. I would love to see the new Daredevil and a future Capt America have it.
