View Full Version : Indomitable character using haymaker?
Hello again, guys.
Got another issue I'd like you to confirm/correct me if I'm right/wrong:
The haymaker feat reads: "Give this character a close combat action targeting a single opposing character. After resolving this action, this character takes 1 pushing damage that ignores Willpower and team abilities".
So, would a character with the indomitable (:d-indomitable:) ability suffer that 1 pushing damage? Would Earth-2 Superman do? I think they'd not, but I want to make sure (don't want to "cheat" on anybody).
And just to refresh my mind, which powers are compatible with haymaker? exploit weakness? charge? flurry? charge and flurry?
Thanks, fellas!

The indomitable ability (granted by the :d-indomitable: symbol) and traits like E-2's are not Willpower or team abilities. Haymaker's pushing damage has no effect.

You must give the character a close combat action to use Haymaker, so anything that either gives you a free close combat action (like Charge) or would activate when a close combat action is given (like BCF) would theoretically work. I say theoretically because practically BCF is not compatible with Haymaker: it was ruled that the +2 bonus applied as soon as the action is given, but the die for BCF isn't rolled until after the attack roll is successful (well after the Haymaker bonus has been applied) so the d6 roll replaces the old modified value... and all you get for your trouble would be the -1 to AV and the pushing damage. If this combo had worked, the old CM Terrax would have been a monster :( (and, yes, I had plans for this when Haymaker was first previewed... sad for me).
Anything that is its own close combat action (like EW, Flurry, Incap, etc) would not work since you can not give a character more than one non-free action in a turn.
What normalview (see, I didn't miscapitalize this time! :p) said.
If you still have questions you should do a search of the rules forum for more scenarios. This has been a pretty well-sussed topic.
Ok, just as I thought. Thank you. ^^
