Thanks to everyone with the dial help. I've created about 3 dials & dialtops. Now I've just got to get the rest of my spare figures in the mail to finish some of my ideas.
Another dumb question. I'm just not used to the program and the help section isn't really helping.
Whatever I do everything prints in the middle of the page.
Here's the question (actually 2):
1) How can I get the dial from the middle of the page to another section?
2) and...Is there a way to put all of the dials from separate files to one page or file?
Man, I gotta find a better help file for Illustrator.

1) There is a tool in Illustrator that looks like a page. It's actually the secondary tool for something else that escapes me at the moment. I think it's the one that looks like the hand with a finger pointing up near the bottom of the toolset. With the page tool, you actually move the page around the image, rather than the image around the page.
2) Copy/paste?

It looks like I hand. Yeah I know what you're talking about but when I use it, it moves the dial and page. So it's still dead in the middle of it.
If you think of anything else please let me know.
for printing purposes, use photoshop...
My tactic is scan an Avery label sheet, place the dials in there and presto...
Sorry for quick info... i'm leaving work now.

You can use your "Page Setup" to determine how your image prints on the page. You should see outlines on the page showing the boundaries of the printable area (if your workspace is bigger than the page size you've selected to print to).
You can duplicate as many dials on the page simply by selecting and then copy/pasting. Not in the right area, just select and drag the art to where you want it. If the art was created on several different layers, make sure that all Layers are unlocked.
And, Illustrator is PostScript printer-friendly, which means there is no reason you should have to raster your document to Photoshop to print out nicely.
Good luck. Feel free to write--I've been using Illustrator professionally since version 2.

No, no. The tool you're looking for looks like a page. It's an alternate tool to the hand. You hold down the mouseclick on the hand and the page tool becomes available (like the brush/pencil in Photoshop).

Thanks everyone for the help. Finally got it all working. Just too new at illustrator. But I've managed to put all of my dials on one page. Now I've just gotta make the mods.
