View Full Version : Confused about Flight

I recently started playing and I'm confused about movement on flying characters. The rulebook (the most recent FF one) says flying characters can move through squares adjacent and occupied by enemy characters. However I was reading the starter Human Torch's special power and it says he "doesn't have to end his movement adjacent to enemy characters". I'm assuming it wouldn't say this unless flying characters normally couldn't, so is it a type in the rulebook?

This brings up a similar question concerning the Infiltrate feat, it says the equipped character can ignore characters for movement purposes but must end his movement adjacent to opposing characters...which seems to me that they can't ignore other characters after-all (since the rulebook also says all characters can move through friendly characters). So what's the deal with this feat?

Human Torch's power is one of those cosmic jokes... it actually doesn't do anything special (unless someone goes to the trouble of Outwitting his Flight ability, that is). You are right-on in noticing that it doesn't give him anything that Flight doesn't already give him.

Infiltrate gives a kind of "limited Flight" in the sense that when using it you are obligated to park next to an opponent in the end. It is basically useless on characters that already have Flight, but can be useful on those who don't.

In terms of your second point normally characters (who do not have flight, leap/climb, phasing/teleport, hypersonic speed, or are giant) would have to stop moving the instant they moved into an adjacent square to an opposing character. The feat you have mentioned allows them to move around opposing characters without having to stop but requires that they end their turn adjacent to an opposing character.

It is worded correctly. The equipped character ignores other characters while moving and also, does not have to breakaway.
The ending next to one just means it HAS TO end its movement adjacent to an opposing character. So, it can start next to Opponent A, not roll breakaway, pass through Opponent B and C, but must end moving Next to A,B, C, D, or whatever other opponent piece is there.

Edit: ShadowMark and kallisti explained it better. The feat lets you ignore characters for movement as long as you are adjacent to an opposing character when you end the movement.
