I'm sorry if this question has been answered previously, I just couldn't find it in my searches! Can you Pulse Wave when there is an adjacent opponent next to the person who's Pulse Waving? I'm getting confused by giving a ranged combat action wording in the power description.

No.
If you are adjacent to an opponent, you cannot be given a ranged combat action to begin with, so you have no way to activate PW.
i hate this rule. it seems like you should be able to pulse wave regardless of adjacency. i wish they would take out the 'range combat action' portion of the power.

So you say now...
... but I'd be willing to be you'd be quite happy with the way this currently works if it is your Space Phantom getting up in Ultron's grill protecting the rest of your team :p ;)

Thanks for the clarification, this is what I thought! We actually had this situation happen yesterday during game play and pulse wave was allowed to happen, now I know that it shouldn't have!

So, a PW-er with sharpshooter would fully be able to PW while adjacent to an enemy?
Not that one exists yet, just to clarify and to get some folks salivating. ;)

Yes, indeed.

it is an interesting concept.
But i would rule that he could only PW adjacent figures.
The reason being that sharpshooter only allows you to make ranged comabt attacks against adjacent figures.
They are unable to shoot figure not adjacent while being based by an opponents figure.

Doesn't matter.
All you need to do to use PW is give the character a ranged combat action; Sharpshooter lets you do that.
Once that action is given, the PW rules take over.

I wish that Human Bomb had Sharpshooter! He has a range of 4... so when he's using Pulse Wave or No... No... it only affects characters exactly two squares away.
Not very threatening.

Perplex is your friend. Ok, STILL not very threatening but even a single perplex to range more than doubles the number of squares he affects. For his points he usually delivers even without the SP, but that's probably a little off-topic :p.

Not very threatening.Unless there are people on rooftops right next to him (or vice versa).
Oh yeah, now he's a beast, huh?

Not really. :p
Anyway, this all goes to prove my point: if a character named the Human Bomb requires so much fiddling and maneuvering just so he can explode properly... his dial wasn't really designed appropriately!
"I coulf explode at any moment now... as long as there's somebody exactly two arm's lengths away from me, or on a nearby rooftop! I AM OUGHTTA CONTROL!!!"

Actually a single perplex precisely doubles the number of squares he can affect.
Without Perplex, he affects 24 squares ((2+2+1)*2-1).
With Perplex, he affects 48 squares ((3+3+1)*2-1).
At least I cannot think of a way he can affect the square he occupies.

Agreed. :)

Technically you are right (although the correct sign for powers of a number is ^ and not *), I omitted his adjacent squares because there can be no enemy figures there at the time of PW, so my calculation was:
Without perplex:
5^2 - 3^2 = 16 squares
With perplex:
7^2 - 3^2 = 40 squares
...but I guess the friendly characters adjacent to him would disagree that they weren't in his area of effect :p

i think the first pulse waving sharpshooter will be blackbolt or nitro! if not they'll have a power that lets them use PW when based!

Actually, I love the :a-sharpshooter: rule.
When I first started playing I misinterpreted the wording in the IC Rulebook and we used to always play this way.
It makes the game so much more tactically interesting.
In fact, I often included it in the House Rules (when those were allowed).
It certainly made everyone a better player.

Presuming of course that card is real....
Is that Jigsaw from WarZone?
I didnt see the movie but it looks like a movie clip.
It looks more to me like they may have been testing out the gallery, I couldnt imagine them getting a movie still.
I guess that could also be an extract from a graphic comic shot, but that would be fairly novel as well.
Up to this point all the art for the cards has been artist renderings presumably to avoid huge copyright costs.
Why would the art on this card be so drastically different then the rest?
Presuming of course that card is real....
The movie still on the card makes me wonder if its not just some place holder test where the Art Work never got officially approved.
The licensing for Movie shots just strikes me as way to expensive for such little return.
Weather the cards ever are officially released or not, I for one will be using them for home games. They are pretty sweet

i guess it wuold depend on the old deciders: time and place.
i still like PW as a power action v. a ranged. just my opionon though, no reason to go spreading it around.
