View Full Version : Ranged combat house rules
I really think there should be some new ranged combat rules.
1. If they can shoot at you you can shot at them. (with the exeption of stealth) If someone is on top of a building, shoudn't you be able to see them. Probably cut range in half as if it were soaring.
2.You should not be able to shoot if you are adjacent to an enemy figure. The character would be tied up w/ close combat
3.No shooting into combat. If you shoot while characters are in combat then you must randomize who you hit.
What do you think?

sorry, a bit confused by your post - unless I misunderstand the rules (or perhaps your post is what I misunderstand). Let me address your points:
1. If you can shoot someone, they can shoot you, except for stealth. This is already the way it is, with the exception of the half range thing for elevated figs. But otherwise, line of fire is a two way street, always has been.
2. This is how it is already.
3. This is the only suggestion so far that would qualify as a "house rule". Personally I don't like it - why shouldn't you be able to shoot at an enemy engaged in close-combat with your friend? Since you're not allowed to target friendly figs, I don't think it makes sense to randomize who you hit in such situations, either, but then again - play whatever way makes you happiest!

Not quite, Fanboy.
1. Only figures who are soaring carry any sort of half-range restriction. Grounded figures use full range to attack elevated ones. And elevation also carries an instance where LOF is not tw-way. Grounded figures will block LOF from grounded-->elevated, but not from elevated-->grounded.
2. Don't forget about the oddities involved with hovering figures, which you went over just a bit ago in another thread. As they may always shoot at adjacent figures provided LOF and range, and grounded figures who are adjacent only to hoverers may shoot at those hoverers. No figures aside from Sentinels and Sinestros may shoot at non-adjacent figures while adjacent, but there still is ranged combat occuring.

I though that's what I said!
