Hey all;

Just thought I'd share with the community a new tool I've created: the random team builder!

For those of you who sometimes have no idea who you want to play and just want a computer to give you a team assignment... this tool is for you! You simply input a point value for the game, and out pops a suggested team!

It works based on an inventory kept in a text file - I've included one that contains almost every game piece, but of course go ahead and edit it to represent your collection at home.

Since I can't attach an .exe file (for understandable security reasons), you can PM me and arrange for me to send you a copy, or else check my site in the signature where it's available amongst my Download Links.

I'll see if I can improve it as we go - consider this version 1.0.

Feel free to make suggestions about improving it, too (top of my list: the ability to load different inventory files, as well as edit the tolerance of inexact point totals - right now it gives you a team within 2 points of the target).

Happy clixing!

Man!

Firstly, thank you for sharing your tool.

Heh.

Secondly, you ALWAYS release a beta first! Tell people this is the beta and then all the complaints are just feedback against a pre-release product.

Then after like 4 years, you release the real thing... like gmail!

You could have phrased that in so many other ways.
That's so blatant a set up that I can't even bother to give you a shot for it.

Crow, very cool, very cool indeed.

Sometimes you just want to get the bad joke out of the way... my hope for stemming the tide that I expected to follow.

Great Clix tool.

It's kind of fun to just generate teams and look at who ends up in them.

Three Things I'd like for the next Version (as if you care what I think :):

1.
Have it make two teams. That way I can generate two teams from my collection and play somebody. You could argue then it should make four teams. :)

2.
Include the Team affliation in the text file and display. It will help me find the clix in my various tackle boxes. And after all isn't it about helping out me? No?

3.
Have a no dupes (Highlander Feature). This will keep you from generating teams that have three wonderwomans, or two hulks... Keeping no dupes for all teams generated would be good too. See suggestion #1. That way Wonder Woman wouldn't end up on both teams.

THANKS AGAIN.

Sounds like a cool idea (haven't seen it yet). If you're wanting to move it to cross platform consider using asp.net if you are using the .NET framework, or go to something like python/php/perl if you were just using straight C/C++. Just a suggestion, kudos for the cool app.

The program doesnt seem that bad. Though i havnt tried it online yet its a good program just for a database and team build utility.

Two things of note though;

a] how about an option under "Figures in Set" for All sets.

b] under "Figures in Team", change the NONE to No Affiliation, and add a default NONE there which would allow the option to be left blank.

Initialy i took the NONE option under Team to mean just that, a clear field option. It took me a minute or two to realize it when i went to search to see the full list of Hammer of Thor... yet found that pieces didnt come up in the search. I was looking for Thor & Loki on the full set list(not using the name search), i had to select a team in order for it to show up. And since im a newer player im not familiar with all of the faction affiliations of all of the pieces yet.

Just a few suggestions. None the less its a great program.

Sounds like a neat way to simulate blind pulls. I'll give it a go.

Downloaded it from the site, gave it a try. Cool! If I could make any suggestions for 1.1, or 2.0, however you choose to label the next version, I would say give the option to set parameters such as "No figures older than ____", "No figures more points than ____", "Only figures with the keyword ____" "Only Giants".... etc. You get the idea. Great work though!

Any ideas for a better way to amend your figures than manually going through that list of every figure in the game?

I generated mine by using Battleplanner to export my list of figures as a text file with the point cost, name and experience columns only...

Does the program automatically know what keywords each figure has? Also, where is the battleplanner to export? Here on HCrealms?

The program does not have any information about anything except point values and figure names. It's the exact opposite of a theme-team builder. It is entirely randomized in how it tries to create a x00-point team.
