Prerequisites: Mastermind

Choose a Character.

Following the resolution of an attack in which the character uses Mastermind, the character can immediately break away automatically and move 1 square for each damage that was dealt to a friendly character via that use of Mastermind.

Ok so used Getaway for the first time tonight on Ultron. Ultron was attacked for 3. I used mastermind and assigned it to an adjacent phalanx soldier. I was then allwoed to automatically break away and move 3 squares. My question to all of you rules nerds is, were we correct in saying Ultron could carry the adjacent soldier and move 3 spaces??

We said you could because he was moving. But not sure if that is the case. Thanks.

No he could not.
To be able to carry you must be given an action.
This is movement from a feat and not being given an action.

I concur. The above statement is correct.

Hmm...I've got my own question on this one.

If I MM 2 damage over to a guy with Toughness, do I get to move 1 or 2 squares?

I'm saying 1. I'm basing this on rulings such as what we have for Goliath.

#022 Goliath
Throw: Goliath can choose to knock back the target of any successful close combat attack he makes a number of squares equal to twice the damage dealt to the target.

#022 Goliath
• When using Throw, the damage dealt that is multiplied by 2 to get the knock back distance is the final damage dealt after all modifiers have been considered, including critical hits and damage reducing powers.

Getaway says "...and move 1 square for each damage that was dealt to a friendly character via that use of Mastermind."

Toughness is a modifier of damage dealt, so even after Toughness, it is still damage dealt.

I would agree with the answers to both questions - carrying can only be done by a character given an action and the damage dealt to the Mastermind receiver is the total damage dealt, after all bonuses and reducers come into play.

All makes sense to me. Thanks everybody.
