View Full Version : My first team

My friend and his wife have been collecting and playing hc for a while now, and I have played a couple of games with them, using their figures (they only collect marvel)...the trouble was 3 people free for all would usually be one by the one who hung back and waited for the first 2 teams to engage, then mopping up the leftovers....

I decided to buy some dc figures, so bought the starter set, a few boosters and ordered some singles online....

Tonight I'm playing against them for the first time...they've assembled 2-300 point marvel groups to go after my 1-600 point dc group....just curious what anybody thought of my selection...

O.W.A.W. Superman - 236 pts
Batman (V) - 116 pts
Flash (V) - 98 pts
Hawkman (V) - 48 pts
Blue Beetle (E) - 35 pts
Booster Gold (V) - 47 pts
Checkmate Medic (V) - 19 pts

This combination comes out to 599 pts, and I think is pretty decent....have 3 fliers/taxis, 5 with ranged attack, 2 with outwit (though Batman doesn't get it till later down the dial), and a healer.....

Would have liked to throw someone in the mix with perplex, but only 2 figure I have with that are Plasticman (E) and Harley Quinn (R)....know they'll have a Scarlet Witch or 2, or even a Black Cat.....

This is the first team I've put together by myself...even if I get my butt kicked, should still give me an idea of what the figures can do and how well they work together....

Any suggestions/criticisms would be appreciated...

Thanks,
Dave965

Overall, a nice team. But I suggest dropping Booster Gold for any other flyer. He's not worth the points, unless you were just using him to taxi and/or fill up points. Maybe another couple of medics in his place?

I personally would choose either the exp. or unique version of Batman over the vet., as the Leadership is highly superfluous in this high of a point game (and with this few figures). Other than that, have fun playing with the big guns!

Ok, if I drop Batman from veteran to experienced, and get rid of booster gold, I could take Steel (E) in his place...what about his?

Experienced steel is a very good model. DOn't let people discourage you from booster gold, there are alot of people around who hold in in high regard. Probably underated in alot of peoples eyes. He has a very deep dial, some decent powers, and he is hardly expensive.

I'd use your other pieces to block line of sight to Supes, you're puttung alot of points into him, don't let him get killed. Move from behind cover, shoot, and move back into cover. This might seem a bit non-supermanish, but you can't afford to have him get hurt until you've softened your opponent up. Then get in there and make hit abd run attacks by rushing in, smacking with objects and moving away. Between flash and supes you can fight a real running battle.

Just one idea, you could do alot of different stuff. But with 230+ points in Supes he really will be the key.

I don't think it's people dissing booster gold...

The Key is batman..

The Exp version is far superior to the vet.. so using the rookie or exp (who have the stealth ability) frees up enough point for this themed team to use rookie steel.

By the way... The new way your are doing the 3 player game is far suprior to a 3 player free-for-all, in my openion.

Good luck!

Ok, I dropped Batman to experienced, dropped Booster completely and went with experienced Steel....

My friends played a mixed Avengers/X-Men team, and though we didn't finish (another friend arrived so we made new teams and started a 4 player/300 pt each game) I think I did pretty good...

Before we quit, I had taken out their She-Hulk, Thor and Daredevil, without any losses on my side, and only having Supes take a few clicks of damage....they had just bought the outside objects pack, and Supes was flying around with the dumpster....

Actually had more fun with the lower point second game...put together a Batman ally team, with Batman (E), Nightwing (V), Catwoman (U), Huntress (V) and a Checkmate Medic, while my friends wife, who was on my side, did her usual X-Men team....

They did heavy hitters on the other team, including 2 Magnetos, a Brainiac, Juggs, and others....we actually managed to win with some teamwork and tactics, seems the big guys aren't always invincible in this game....I like that...

So for my first real night of playing, I must say I'm impressed...I haven't played a minature game of any type in years....used to play battletech way back when...and this is nice....can see us playing this at least one night a week for quite a while.....

Thanks again for all the comments, and will probably be posting again...either rules questions or advice....
