I know you can't use ss and CCE together. But what if a character is holding an object and wants to make a CCE attack? Does the object drop down, is it destroyed with no additional damage, or the figure simply can't make a CCE attack at all?

If a figure is holding an object.... that object MUST be used in their next Close Combat attack.

So, CCE could not be used at all.

I understand this, but in a ranged attack using an object is optional correct? I had this come up a while ago when I was zipping steel around with a dumpster and wanted to make a ranged attack without the object, my opponent objected to this. Pretty sure I could have made the attack, but I didn't. Can someone quote me a verse somewhere that says I either can attack optionally with the object at range, or I must attack with the object at range?

You were right; you don't have to use it. However, since you were using super strength to hold it, you can't use Steel's RCE anyway..
