There's an upcoming tournament at my venue that's 500 points unrestricted, no feats, must have a non-generic theme team. I want to play Hammer of Thor stuff, since it's shiny and new. Asgardians seems easy to put together and fun, but I've already used them a lot and everyone's using Thor right now, so I thought I'd try Asgardian villains. Do you guys have any suggestions for a cool team of evil Asgardian characters? I expect to see at least one person and probably two using all Gotham City, so I need to be able to handle stealth, but other than that I'd be willing to give anything a whirl.
Here's who I would suggest:
Malekith 91
Loki (Super-Rare) 208
Ulik 118
Fire Demon 33
Rock Troll 45
Loki's there for his range, stealth, probability control and damage. Ulik is theer because Gotham City teams always rely on outwit, and his defense power is immune to that. Rock Troll is in there because Ulik is there to make him more of a threat, and Fire Demon is there to taxi Ulik around and drop him off within charging range of opposing characters.
And since Malekith ignores stealth when using mind control, he's there to make your opponent's Batman Allies run out into the open and get pounded on by the others.
If you don't have the SR Loki, I'd go with this team instead:
Malekith 91
Ambidextrous (Malekith) 12
Loki 122
Ambidextrous (Loki) 16
Enchantress 141
Ulik 118
Now Malekith can control two of your opponents' Batman Allies, allowing Loki to snipe at them before Enchantress mind controls them into running up next to Ulik for the kill.
Hmmm. I think I may have to run this latter team myself at some point soon...
Malekith 91
Kurse 121
Loki 209
Executioner 72
Lila Cheney 6 (or Joe Chill 6)
Just notice Malekith's short range of 6 when he's in for Mind Control. Malekith and Kurse are your key characters against Stealth. Against beasts like Thor, Loki comes in quite handy.
Lila Cheney is for tie-up, Joe Chill could be a good extra for Mastermind.

Enchantress + Compel
Malekith
Ulik
3x Rock Trolls
Tk charge into Stealth, Compel to do it again! Malekith ignores Stealth for LoF!

Does it all have to be from HoT? 'cause Executioner from Armor Wars is a darned nasty piece (especially the Rookie with MoE TA). You might want to give him a look, too.

You might want to take a look at this blog post. (http://heroclixin.wordpress.com/2009/12/12/ragnarok/)

I can vouch for the awesomeness of Malekith and Karnilla. Malekith's an excellent support character with his flight, TK and Mystic TA. His special mind control SP is great too as it was pointed out you can make stealth characters walk out into the open to get shot down. Karnilla is nasty for the points too with good stats and useful powers all the way through for only 64 points.

Last Saturday I played this team:
HoT SR Loki 208
+ Infiltration 2
HoT Malekith 91
HoT Karnilla 64
AW Executioner 56
AW Lorelei 41
HoT Valkyrie 38
Total: 500 points.
It was a real blast to play and Lorelei is really insanely good mastermind fodder for Loki with her upfront toughness and late dial enhancement.
The Valkyrie is sort of a stretch thematically but it wouldn't be the first time Loki or Malekith used subterfuge to make someone work for them. If it breaks theme too much, use a Fire Demon and 5 point feat instead.
I think I would try Surtar & a truck load of fire demons, only thing I think could be a problem would be the stealth power and outwit teams so might be better to try something else but would be fun to play beat down on a few people. was just an idea
