...by my 7-year old.
I just played an FF themed game with my son. I played E Fantastic Four for 300 points and he played V Blastaar, Superskrull and V Puppet Master. He just handed me my head on a silver platter.
Is it me or the FF, as a team, are not well balanced enough to face a wide variety of opponents? Besides Thing, no one else really has a damaging attack. I also think that Reed's Outwit and Sue's Defend should be available at the start of the game.
In this particular instance, the villains' range attack was just too much.
I could have started this thread in the Battle Plans section but I didn't really want to discuss the finer points of battle strategy on this issue. Nor do I want to hear folks telling my battle skills are poor. :p
I am actually looking for your impressions on the FF and if some of you guys can try that same battle it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.
This may have been discussed in previous threads but I missed them and, well, just found out the hard way playing the Experienced team for the first time. :(
Thanks!

They are difficult to play.. I'm working on a stragegy writup to send to wizkids now, but I have one suggestion..
Try mixing up the points a little differently..
Vet Human Torch
Exp She Hulk
Rookie Invisible girl
Exp MR fantastic or Rookie thing
Try to use fantastic to tie up the most dangerous of your opponents pieces early on.... let him get outwit and push everyone to attack... be very aggressive with she hulk and torch.

The problem is that the R and E Mr Fantastic are both pretty rubbish, whereas the V is excellent. Not sure of the points cost but dropping Mr F to R and upgrading Torch to V is a good idea.
Yeah, I said R Mr. F sucks, but you can at least use him to an extent - throw him at their toughest enemy (and their taxi) - unless they can leap climb they need to take him out, and once hurt bad he gets Ouwit.
Meanwhile, use Sue to block as well with her high defense. Send Torch around sapping targets gradually with his 3 damage (this can take a while on Invulnerables) whilst Thing gets an object and attacks targets once Torch knocks them down a click or two (Thing has attack 9, whereas V Torch has 10).
How I would have faced off versus your opponents with your lineup:
Sue taxis Reed. Reed pushes asap (to become Invulnerable) and bases Super Skrull. Sue bases Blaastar (try not to push her though, her 19 defense is important). Torch taxis Thing to an object, then tracks down Puppet Master and nukes him (a single hit will make him useless, as if he isn't already without Ultron or another high attack MOD guy and a Syndicate guy). Thing grabs an object, and smashes whoever is around with it.
With a bit of luck, Super Skrull will knock Reed to his Outwit clicks, at which point you can push the others like crazy whilst piling on Super Skrull en masse. (Outwit his Invulnerability). S-Skrull's other choice is to try and breakaway then running shot, but that 6 isn't easy. Anyhoo, Reed will soon go down, healing the others.

Thanks for the tips, guys.
I played the four E figs. Classic FF without too much thought to strategy. No She-Hulk. I didn't think about mixing in all REVs to make the team. That's a good idea.
I did try to use Reed's plasticity to my advantage, preventing break aways, while trying to cash in with Thing's damage. But Blastaar and Superskrull both have flight, running shot and a good range. It was tough for me to get in the proper position without exposing myself to serious damage.
I have been much more successfull with all Vet figs. The Exp. team is tough to play and I am now afraid to try the all rookie lineup. :)

I've particularly been having problems dealing with V Blastaar. I've lost twice in a row because I couldn't hit him for enough when he was peaked at 19 defense with toughness ability. There's only a handful of guys with toughness 19. And to top it off he reaches 19 later in the game than ANY other figure. So by the time you've worn him down (up) to 19, your force and the other guys is somewhat decimated, leaving him with a superior figure that can single handedly destroy anyone while they're hits bounce off his 19. Then trying to out maneuver a guy with running shot and movement/range 10. Not that I have any problems with brick house guys but when they can beat V Superman 1 on 1 for 80 points less. I don't care how impervious you are, you can take a million hits but if you can't beat 19 defense it doesn't matter anyways unless you can get critical hit/miss. He's no firelord but I think he should cost more.
I used V-Blastaar in a 300pt tournament this past weekend. He was taken out in all three games I played by timely critical hits when he was on his 18 or 19 defense clicks. My opponents just had his number and the right dice rolls at the right time.
