if I have a Veteran Wolverine on its first click and it is on a square with hindering terrain, can an opposing fig make a CLOSE COMBAT attack on wolvie?

From what I understand, no.

In the PAC, it states: "Any line of fire drawn to this character that crosses hindering terrain, including the saquare that this character occupies, is treated as though it crosses blocking terrain."

And since Logan is standing on it, he can't be attacked, while standing on it.

ANY figure can make a CLOSE Combat attack against someone using Stealth. If fact, that's the ONLY type of attack you can make against him. You cannot make a Ranged Attack on Logan because you cannot draw a Line of Fire on him due to the Stealth.

Stealth doesn't protect you from close attacks, only range. If that was the case everyone would abuse stealth characters and Robin more than they do now.

You can always make a Close Combat attack as long as you are adjacent to the figure and on the same elevation. Stealth _ONLY_ affects LOF for ranged attacks and powers that require LOF like Outwit. Once you stand next to Logan, you can wail away on him.
