Heroclix is starting up again at Foundation's Edge!

We will be holding supported events every other Sunday at 1:15. Prizes will be awarded for First Place and Fellowship.

Until we are able to post events elsewhere, Mr. Pilkington and I will be posting event descriptions here. We may even post some tourney reports.

Regular players usually bring extra figs and teams, if you need some help building your force. New players are always welcome. We look forward to seeing you there.

See the post below for House Rules.

Prizes: All FE tournaments will have plastic elements as prizes. Cardboard elements will be given away as participation prizes only.

Tournaments start promptly at 1:15 pm on their respective days. Late arrivals may be able to get a bye for the round but it is not guaranteed.

Tournaments consist of three Swiss rounds of 50 min each unless otherwise specified in the tournament special rules and conditions.

The standard 10% of build total Feat Cap is in effect unless otherwise specified in the tournament special rules and conditions.

Retirement for FE tournaments includes all figures and game elements produced before the LOSH starter set and the Avengers expansion set. Basically, if the figure has a Heroclix Character Card, then it is legal for Restricted tournamanets. All elements from retired sets are retired, including figures, feats, battlefield conditions, bystanders, and special obfects (both 2-d and 3-d). That said, most tournaments will be Unrestricted, meaning that we will not enforce retirement.

The Highlander Rule at FE is defined as such: Only one copy of any named/non generic figure from a specific set may be included in a team. Generic figures or figures sharing a common name from different sets may appear on the same team. The Judge has final say as to whether or not a figure is generic. The Highlander Rule is in effect by default unless otherwise specified in a tournament's special rules and conditions.

Byes are scored as a win with half of the player's build total awarded as victory points.

There will always be a Judge present. If the judge actively plays in the tournament, then the judge prize will be added in as a Second Place prize instead of being awarded to the judge. The judge may play Byes for fun, if he/she is not actively playing in the tournament.

Thanks Spiderstrike. Stop by if you're ever in the area. If you know of some places in Charlotte to play, there's a thread where you can post their info here:

Good luck on growing a new clix following in that area too.

Tournament Report 1/10 (Abriged Version)

4 players today and the judge - We were lucky enough to get a new player - both new to our venue and the game. He happened to see the poster and stop by. We were very excited to be getting someone new as we try to reignite the interest in Heroclix in our area.

300 pt Floor Unrestricted

Teams:
John - Thunderbolts - Moonstone, Venom (w/ Entangle), Penance, Songbird
Harris - Runaways with Runaways Team Ability Feat
Bisquit - Ronan (w/Stunning Blow), Merlyn (w/Nanobots), Malekith (w/Inside Information)
Tim - Fandral, Hogun, Karnilla, Fire Demon

Tim, our new player, won the day. We all thought the Thunderbolts would take the win, but the high stats of the Warriors Two and some favorable dice rolls gave Tim the edge. We were all glad to see the new guy win.

Things I learned today:

Plasticity really screws Ronan when partnered with Entangle, Super Senses, and Shape Change.

Penance is as bad as I thought he was, but can still manage to screw up my plans.

It's really fun when Ronan hits someone. It's even better when he hits two someones.

Thanks for reading. Maybe I can talk one of the other players into doing a more impressive tournament report after the next event. If anyone is interested, we will be playing clix next weekend as well, but their will be no prize support. Next tournament with prize support will be in two weeks.

It was nice to have a new player. Unfortunately for me we had an even number so I didn't get to play my bye teams. I had these with me:

Soldiers: V Nova, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Bug (w/And Stay Down!, Lunge and Vault)

Asgardian "Double Date": HA Enchantress, R Executioner, HA Spider-man, R Lorelei

I'll probably try the Asgardians team some time as I'd like to see how the sisters do together with their beefy dates. I wanted to work Compel onto this team to have Enchantress push the boys to do what she wanted. Maybe in a higher point game.

But yes, an Entangled HA Venom is a pain for anyone other than a high damage PWer.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to it Spider. Let me know if you guys are holding any events at AF&G. I'd like to get out there.

And now for another very brief tournament report, in which I prove to be a loser...again.

4 players today and the judge

300 pt Unrestricted Scenario - See above

Teams:
John - Mad Thinker, Awesom-o (I mean Awesome Andy), Bi-Beast, Sentinel Trooper, Some Feats
Harris - Ultron (w/Fortitiude), Yellowjacket (SI)
Bisquit - Spider-Man (w/Maneuver), Mr. Fantastic, Dr. Polaris, Doom Bot
Tim - Metal Men with Will Magnus and Plat - no Lead and Tin

Harris won with an unstoppable Ultron. That's pretty much the story of the day. The Metal Men held out the longest. Congrats to Harris for playing a comic accurate team that fit the scenario and winning without question.

I will say that I had a great time playing John. Our game came down to Mr. Fantastic vs. Mad Thinker and Awesome Andy (still on click 1). Due to some very agressive play by me, and some poor dice luck on John's part, Mr. Fantastic pulled out the win (as he should). John was a great sport, especially given the fact that Spider-Man one-shotted Bi-Beast with a (perplexed) 5 dmg flurry. Everyone agreed that Spider-Man probably shouldn't be doing that. I pointed out that he only did it once all day :(. It sure would have been nice if he could've done it to Ultron. Have a great week guys. See you next month.

Hey,

On the 7th can I use Battle Field Conditions? I saw that it was no feats, but I wasn't sure if a BFC was the same as a feat.

6 Players this week!

400 pt Unrestricted Scenario - Above - for the Golden Anvil...and Mjolnir!

Sam – Hercules, Thorbuster, Spider-Man, Mockingbird, Valkyrie
Alex – Ult Thor, Kree Warrior, Elektra, Mystique, Skrull Warrior
David – Avengers – Cap, Wasp, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Hawkeye
Harris – Helena, X-Men First Class
Tim – Carnilla, Loki, Valkyrie, Asgardian Warrior, Malekith
Joe – Heimdall, Nick Fury, Rampaging Hulk, Shield Sniper, Scarlet Witch

I finally get to post as a winner! On to the tourney report...

Game 1 vs Sam: We played on the WW Hulk Map and Thorbuster was stuck in a tough location with Nick Fury firing at him from Stealth. Shield Sniper also landed some good shots. Hulk was drawing the fire to allow Heimdall to move up and Nick to operate more furiously. Skip ahead, a little bad dice luck and Thorbuster was out. Herc took down the Hulk and Heimdall fell to a Valkyrie and Herc combo. Only the Shield soldiers and Scarlet Witch left to fend off Herc 3 or 4 clicks down. Fury brought it home with Scarlet Witch as taxi and sniper as back up. Great game and hats off to Sam for sticking it through to the end. He won fellowship for the day. He played some close games, just missing out in the end.

Game 2 vs David: Rampagin Hulk opened up game two with an amazing quake that hit Cap’s 18 def along with Hawkeye and Iron Man. Hulk then served as very effective tie-up. Hiemdall and Fury put the squeeze on from each side. The dice definitely favored me with some very lucky opening rolls. Lesson learned - I love the new Cap. Hopefully, I'll be getting one soon.

Game 3 vs Tim: Fury once again proved to be MVP, psychic blasting Loki and outwitting phasing, so that she couldn’t escape Hulk and Hiemdall. Hulk once again proved to be very effective bait and tie-up. Carnilla missed a few open shots, and Loki just wasn't on her (still strange to see) game. Malekith opened up at the end, injuring Heimdall, but it was a little too late as the game was 4 on 1.

All in all, we had a good time, and it was good to finally score a win. The best part, though, was seeing some new faces at the store. I hope the game keeps growing. As always, the invitation is open and we would love to see new players any day. I will be posting the new tourney schedule soon. We will probably be holding the next one in 3 weeks.

Rampaging Hulk haunts my every waking moment. I keep seeing him move in and quake in slow motion. Horrifying.

Mr. Pilkington
02/23/2010, 05:40
I'm not sure if it has been addressed, but BFCs are allowed unless specified otherwise in the event description.

Here are the events through March:

02/28 – Girl Fight Tonight
Unrestricted, 300 points, 10% Feat cap
All figures must be female. Highlander rule is in effect. Games will be played on the Prison map.

03/14 – Father Knows Best
Unrestricted, 500 points, 10% Feat cap
Highlander rule is in effect. Each team must have at least one father and child pairing. Bystanders do not count as a father or a child. Examples include:

Corsair & Cyclops or Havok
Magneto & Scarlet Witch or Quicksilver
Deathstroke & Ravager
Darkseid & Orion or Kalibak
Omni-man & Invincible

(If you have questions about a father/child pairing contact Mr. Pilkington.)

03/28 – Princes of the Universe
Unrestricted, 400 points, 10% Feat cap, Single universe
Highlander rule is in effect. Teams must have exactly one figure with the Ruler keyword.

Just a quick update...I missed the last event, but based on what I've heard, it was a fun one. We had another new player, John. The winning team included a Gamora, V Shi, and a lot of shanking within the prison's main corridor of carnage. Hopefully we'll see you guys this Sunday.

Mr. Pilkington
03/11/2010, 12:14
Indeed. The "Green is Good" team of SI Skrull Elektra, SI Spider-woman and SI Susan Richards had a strong opening but some very unlucky breakaway rolls caused them to fall behind. The two teams in the the final were very similar and very thematic for a prison fight. Both used a number of IndyClix figures and focused on BCF. Team Shanker eventually won but it was a dirty knife fight throughout. Sadly "Attack of the 50-foot Women" did not fare very well (Giganta, E Steel and Stature, my odd-ball Judge team to play the bye rounds).

Mr. Pilkington
03/15/2010, 10:22
Apparently Alan Scott knew best. We had five players attend yesterday with a nice mix of teams. The father/child pairs were:

OR R Green Lantern + LG LE Jennifer-Lynn Hayden
IC R Magneto + IC R Scarlet Witch
UL U Magneto + AV SR Scarlet Witch
SI Captain Mar-Vell (non-skrull) + SV V Photon + HA Phyla-Vell
CR Darkseid + CD U Kalibak
CJ V Livewire + GI Validus (Judge team to play vs. byes)

It was not a decisive tournament with no player going undefeated. With 4 of the 5 players holding 2-1 records it went to points. The JSA team fared the best in its loss game (successfully KOing Kalibak) and won the day.

Points of interest:

1) Alien symbiotes are apparently on the Kree criminal list as Mar-Vell captured Carnage for a surprise in round 1.

2) Validus + Refrigerator = Shadow Demon on ice

3) Ultimate Magneto does not like seeing someone impersonate his daughter (to the dismay of the opposing Scarlet Witch in the Magneto/Magneto fight).

Happy Easter!

We finished our final Wizkids supported tournament for HoT last Sunday. Starting next Sunday (4-11), we will be holding games for fun. If you would like to play a certain figure, point total, or format, let us know, and we will change up the build restrictions to fit. Mr. Pilkington or I will publish the tournament info by next weekend.

I should have posted this right away, as I only remember a little bit of what happened, so here's just a recap of last Sunday's final game:

5 players and the Judge
400 Pts - See build restrictions and scenario on previous page

Teams:

Anti-Monitor - Played by the judge in bye rounds
V Sinestro, LE Black Fire, Lyssa Drak, Mr. Mind
Immortus (Auto-Regen), Spider-Man, V Cloak, U Nick Fury, Lightspeed
Gorilla Grodd, Mallah, Ultra-Humanite
V Batman, V Aqua-man, Ra's al Ghul, U Flash, Parademon
Starter Doom, LE Ironman, Doombot

Like I said, I don't remember everything I should, so I'll give you what I remember of the final game.

Immortus and Co (me) vs Sinestro and Co (Jason)

We were playing on Castle Doom. Jason moved Sinestro and Mr. Mind out to elevated, still in sight of Lyssa, his TK, who stayed back near the starting area with Blackfire. I move my figures up, using Lightspeed to carry Immortus. He clears and I rush, in an effort to keep Sinestro from zooming all over the map, with the help of Lyssa's TK. Cloak lands beside Sinestro, while Immortus and Fury are in positions to outwit. Spider-Man clears, with hopes of ambushing Lyssa or Blackfire next turn.

Fast forward through some exciting back and forth brawls, Cloak is down, Blackfire is down, Lyssa and Immortus are hurt, and somehow Nick Fury is on the building with Mr. Mind and Sinestro, out of adjacency and in stealth. Lightspeed managed to hop up there as well, but you can guess how that ended.

Spider-Man finishes off Lyssa and joins the fight on the building. In the mean time, Sinestro has almost killed Immortus twice. Auto-regen comes through as Immortus returns to his 11 AV Psy Blast click twice. Five clicks of regen saves the day, as he manages to outwit and prob from the sidelines, while Spider-Man does the dirty work with Flurry. Although Fury was my saving grace a few weeks ago, he didn't do much in the game except provide outwit.

Good game to Jason. This one was really fun. In fact, just about all my games against Jason are a lot of fun. I have to say, I feel like luck played a big part in this one. All total, I used regen at least 3 times for 3 or more clicks. Had the dice gone a different way, I would be writing this from a different perspective.

*Additional Insight* - I didn't play against the SC Anti-Monitor, but from what I saw while sitting next to it, that 400 pt version is dirty. If you were lucky enough to grab the SCAM, consider using it in a 400 pt tourney, especially if your opponents tend to bring lower dmg figs. His immunity to psy blast and exploit is a pain. Without raw damage it will be tough for opponents.

Thanks again guys. Hope to see you on the 11th.

Foundation's Edge will be holding the marquee event for The Brave & The Bold on Sunday April 25th at 1:15pm Eastern. We have the Black lantern objects for prizes. The event will be sealed booster with participants buying two boxes of TB&TB. Supplies may be limited so please PM me if you want to reserve a spot.

So far, it's looking like we will have 8-10 spots available for the sealed event this Sunday, April 25th. Four of those have been claimed for sure. If you're interested please PM Mr. Pilkington.

If you have never played in a sealed event before, please feel free to contact us with questions, or just show up a few minutes early for some pointers. The Marquee Primer on the Realms Front Page is a great place to start.

See you there.

Well, the sealed event went well. I think we all had fun, especially Pilk. He pulled a shiny new Black Hand. Then he proceeded to judge instead of play, so I guess that's fair:). The duos were out in force, but some single figures won the day.

My favorite move of the day goes to Harris. He ate an object with Mikron's SP to give Mikron TK, then pulled an object out from under a stealthy Batman/Green Arrow Duo and tried to hit them with said object. Unfortunately, his tech wasn't up to the challenge. Still though, it was an excellent idea. Harris is usually pretty good at thinking creatively, and he's caught us all of guard more than once.

Upcoming tournaments should be posted shortly. We will be alternating prizes for the next few events. One event prize will be a figure, then the next will be a lantern, and so on. If you have any suggestions for events, feel free to throw them out. Pilk is hoping to hold one or two modern age events. I would like to see at least one straight up 300, 400, or 500 point event, but we'll see what shakes out. See you next Sunday, May 9.

Mr. Pilkington
05/02/2010, 22:21
We finalized the May 9th event today:

400 points, 50% Floor (BatB), Modern Age (so no feats other than ATAs, BFCs or figures from LoSH starter or previous)

The prize will be an LE figure (we are alternating lanterns and figures for as long as we have figures). Figures will go to 1st, 2nd, Fellowship and Judge.

We should have more events hashed out by then. See you in a week!

05/10/2010, 20:25
So another weekend is in the books. This weekend we tried out the Modern Age build restrictions. I had a great time, just like I always do when playing clix, but I do miss feats. I've always loved them. Personally, I was sad that they were made universally available after I traded actual figures to get them (Warbound and Protected), and now to see them removed completely from the restricted environment...well, it makes me a little sad. Good thing they're back next time, as we return to the Golden Age. Enough of that though, on to the report:

4 players this week and 1 judge (Pilk)

Tim - Justice League International - Bats, Manhunter, Beetle, and Canary

Harris - Power Girl, Green Lantern, Marvel Girl *

Jason - The Trinity - Bats, Supes, Wonder Woman

Me - Black Flash, Robin, Lyssa Drak, Parademon Grunt, Holiday Killer, Scarlet Witch

Welcome to Jason! He's a new player in the area, but he's our third Jason.

I drew Jason in my first game. He came hard with the Trinity, but the dice just weren't in his favor. He did end up with fellowship, however. We're looking forward to a return visit.

Up against Harris in game 2. Once again, the dice favored my bunch of misfits, as Harris missed a perplexed opening shot on the Witch. Black Flash got a shot in on the next turn, and things went down hill from there. There was a late game upswing in the form of a cool double energy explosion from GL, but it wasn't enough to change the course of things. Good game, as always, with Harris.

Game 3 was with Tim. I have to stop here and say goodbye to Tim. It was his last game with us, because he's moving away. Good luck in life Tim. If you still read the page from time to time, shoot us an email and let us know how things are going. Back to the game...Manhunter was a little frustrating to crack. Holiday Killer pulled his weight though, as he did all day long. By far, he was the MVP of the team. Had it not been for him, Manhunter would probably have pulled out the win. Black Flash was my Anti-Batman, though, and I guess I can't down play his role. Final outcome 3-0. Go Misfits!

All in all, it was a fun day. I really enjoy games over 300 pts, even if I have to play modern age ;). On a side note, I played Pilkington after the tournament, and I have more respect for the GL/Flash duo than I did previously. They have a pretty reliable dial.

Next tournament is on the 23rd. It will probably be Golden Age, all figures must share a non-generic keyword. Point total to be announced. Until next time...

Mr. Pilkington
05/17/2010, 12:19
Sorry for the late official announcement. The next event at Foundation's Edge is on May 23rd with the following build restrictions:

600 points, Unrestricted/Golden Age, 10% feat cap, no colossal figures, all figures must share a non-generic keyword. If the team has less than 4 figures it will not receive the theme team bonuses (this is to allow playing higher point figures without having to scrape together low-cost filler to make an actual theme team). Also, the new DC starter figures will not be allowed at the event since they have not been officially released yet.

If you have any questions let me know. The prize will be a lantern, color undecided yet (I'm trying to work up themed events for lantern colors, so I'm not sure which one to use for this event).

Very quick tourney report from last Sunday's 600 pt shared Keyword event:

8 Players plus Judge

John - Infinity Watch
David - Avengers
Ron - Asgardians
Harris - Skrulls
Doug - JSA
Gary - Asgardians
Jason - Avengers
Bisquit - JSA

The final game came down to David and John. David played an Avengers team with FCBD War Machine, FCBD Iron Man, HoT Cap, Scarlet Witch, and Thor. John played an Infinity Watch team with Thanos, Adam Warlock, Gamora, and Pip, plus a ton of feats.

David actually managed to have Thor pick up Mjolnir (Special Object) in this game. Given the build of David's team and that last amazing feat, most would consider him an instant win. However, the dice favored Thanos and his defense pumping, supporting buddy Warlock. Reflecting on the game, David said that he should have taken down Warlock and jumped in on Thanos to avoid the Psy Blast at range. Some days, though, nothing seems to work out, so who knows if it would have helped.

Congrats to John for playing his team really well (and for reading his powers, as I had completely forgotten that Warlock had support:)). I think John felt like he really used Gamora well. He likes the character a lot and was happy to see her get to tear things up, while everyone focused on Thanos.

Hope to see everyone in June for more tourneys. Pilkington said he had some interesting things lined up and will be posting the events soon. Each tourney for a lantern should have a mild flavor of some sort, so keep an eye out. Thanks for taking an interest in heroclix at FE.

Just a quick note - see above posts for all tournaments for June - August. Next tournament is This Sunday, 6-13-10!

Last weeks tournament went well. Harris and his Archers took home the Top Honors at our 200 point Charity Gala. The Human Torch and The Thing were the second place team.

I've waited too long to write up the report (also I wasn't part of the final game:)) and many details escape me, so I'm hoping someone else can chime in with a more interesting summary of events.

Hope to see everyone on Sunday. Good luck!

Tournament Results from 6-13

4 Players and Judge (Mr. Pilkington)

Harris - Wonder Woman and Scarecrow
John - Extant, Inertia, Batman Beyond
David - Flash, Scarecrow, Lysa Drak
Bisquit - Lysa Drak, Dr. Destiny, Diana Prince, Mera

Scenario in brief: Characters can't attack opposing pieces of a higher point cost, until they defeat those of a lower cost first (unless every remaining opposing figure was of a higher point cost).

Harris, completely unaware of the scenario, brought a great team for it. 215 pt Wonder Woman could attack without issue. At the end of the day, she and her straw companion were the victors. Even without the scenario, Harris stood a good chance of winning. He is a good player, and the team is a high damage, mobile team. Nicely done!

Special thanks to Mr. Pilkington. This is the fourth week in a row that he hasn't gotten to play, because we've had even numbers or he came up with the scenario and didn't want an unfair advantage. Maybe next time. Thanks for constantly showing up just to watch us play (and coordinate events).

06/27 – All You Need Is Love
Golden Age, 400 points, 10% Feat cap
Highlander rule is in effect. Each team must have at least one male character and at least one female character. Special scenario rules will be announced at the tournament. Prize: Violet Lantern 3-D Object

The only requirement is to have one male/female figure on your team? or is it one female for every male? Since it is all you need is love do you get bonus points for comic love interest on your team? Just moved to Raleigh and hoping to play this weekend!

bisquit
06/25/2010, 22:01
I replied to your PM a few minutes ago, but I also wanted to reply here for anyone else that may have the same questions.

You only need one male and one female. The rest is up to you:cool:. I don't think there will be any bonus points for comic accurate couples. Our judge is theme team guy, though, so you will win some brownie points.

What you can expect is that the scenario will probably be tied into the idea of love. Male and female characters will probably change stats or gain powers when targeting characters of the opposite sex, something of that nature. We normally don't have events that feature a "secret" scenario, but we thought that it would prove to be fun for the lantern events. If there are any questions, please feel free to PM me or Mr. Pilkington.

Great to have you joining us. I hope you have a great time, and welcome to the area!

Mr. Pilkington
06/27/2010, 19:01
Love apparently really is a battlefield!

We had 6 players this week and military organizations were dominant with representation for SHIELD, Checkmate, generic soldiers and even those sneaky League of Assassins. Sadly they did not prove to be ninjas of love. The final pitted SHIELD against the soldiers with SI Nick Fury facing off against SN Nick Fury. The other teams included pairs of lovers, one fielding Hal Jordan/Star Sapphire and Saturn Girl/Lightning Lad and the other pulling out all the stops with Batman/Talia, Spider-man/Mary Jane(BST), Aquaman/Mera(BST), and Cyclops/Jean Grey.

The special rules were hopefully a bit more balanced than the Fear scenario. Figures could attack opposing figures of their own gender without issue, but they took a click of unavoidable damage if they damaged a figure of the opposite gender. This stayed in effect until one side only had one gender left (this was where the confusion happened). Mind Control proved very handy against the opposite sex (as would Incap, Force Blast without knockback damage, and TK to move the opposing figure). The biggest highlight I saw was when Harris' Hal Jordan sucked it up and did a dual-target energy explosion on Fire and Ice and M. Marie. He scored a critical hit dealing out 8 damage (3 to F&I, 3 to M.Marie and two to the hapless Roy Harper beside her) but took two himself for roughing up the womenfolk.

In the end Ultimate Nick Fury took out his doppelganger to cinch the win for Jason S. and Jesse's Checkmate team pulled in fellowship.

The next event is pretty vanilla with Golden Age, 300 points, 10% feat/ATA cap and at least one figure must have one of the following keywords: Celebrity, Police, Politician, Reporter, Scientist. So come out on July 11th and compete for a Clark Kent LE!

Just a quick note about the BFF tournament on 7/25. If you wish to use the Shazam! and Black Adam figure to fulfill the duo figure requirement you must field them at 280 points and thus as a duo. If they are fielded at 140 points they lose the :a-duo: symbol and gain the :a-fist: instead, thus ceasing to be a duo. Figures like Goodness and Mercy and Superman and The Flash are legal as they start the game as duo figures (even though they may stop being a duo later in the game).

Hey do ata cards count toward the 10% feat rule?

According to the 2010 Blackest Night Rules, ATA Cards do not apply to the 10% Feat Card cap, because they are not Feats anymore. But you can only have one ATA card per team.

But you may want to check with your judge to see if he has a house rule in effect.

Mr. Pilkington
07/13/2010, 14:45
Thanks for chiming in here VGA d1sc1pL3. I'll try to address things officially for the venue.

1) ATAs do not count against the feat cap. They are absolutely not feats anymore. They also do not count for Floor requirements per this thread (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=282108). So ATAs are their own beast, completely removed from feats and sets/retirement. As a corollary, the printed Feat cards for old ATAs are *not* legal. Only the black bordered ATA cards are, which of course have not been physically printed by WizKids and not all of them have even been released by WizKids. For now we will use the Player's Guide text. I'll make sure I have a copy of the Player's Guide printed out and with me, but as with all Print-n-Play elements you have to bring your own copy to make sure the text is available for the game.

2) Wildcards can copy ATAs unless the ATA specifically prohibits it (like say Guardians of the Galaxy). Wildcards do not need the keyword(s) associated with the ATA to copy/use an ATA. And while we haven't seen it at our venue yet, it is easy to miss in the rulebook so I'll remind folks here:

A team may only field one ATA.

So no cherry-picking keyworded characters for multiple-ATA wildcard abuse.

3) ATAs do not replace the character's existing TA(s) if any. The Player's Guide wording has removed that concept.

And finally a correction of my own statement at the last tournament. I did not have the new wording of the Checkmate ATA with me for my bye-playing team and ruled it incorrectly. Checkmate has been reworded (as Jason Smith thought) to include *all* figures with the keyword regardless of point cost. As such Roy Harper and Amanda Wall would have needed the TA assigned to them on my team. It all came out in the wash as every player got a bye and each one managed to effectively checkmate my Checkmate team (i.e. everyone beat the pants off of them) so there were no issues with points. Plus everyone got a prize anyway (Hurray!). I just wanted to note that I was indeed wrong and will do my best to avoid it in the future. (Hey, at least I got to play this time!)

As always, if you have any questions just let me know.

Mr. P, taking his lumps and *not* liking the change to the Checkmate ATA

bisquit

Mr. Pilkington
07/26/2010, 16:16
Sorry about the lack of timely response, but Modern Age does not allow BFCs. The only cardboard elements allowed are ATAs (the current wording/costs, not the ones on any old ATA cards), Special Objects from Avengers forward and Bystanders from Avengers forward.

Mr. Pilkington

BFF was a rousing success. The special rules were as follows:

Given the waves of compassion blanketing the world, even the most hardened villains can't help but feel the effects. All figures use Shape Change (if they cannot already) as an assigned Trait that ignores all powers/abilities/traits/rules/effects, simulating everyone's reluctance to resort to violence. In addition, figures feel empathy for their less fortunate brethren. When a figure attacks a lower cost figure the target gets to use Super Senses (if they cannot already) as an assigned Trait that ignores all powers/abilities/traits/rules/effects, simulating the higher cost figure pull their punch just a bit.

We got five players (so I got to play as the bye!). The duo figures in use were:

Batman and Catwoman
Devil Dinosaur and Moon Boy
Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy
Batman and Green Arrow
Power Man and Iron Fist
Goodness and Mercy (Judge's team)

Power Man and Iron Fist, with the help of their martial artist pals, pounded their way to a 3-0 victory for Richard! The scenario Shape Change and Super Senses did a number on folks and seemed to run hot and cold. Overall I feel it was a fun scenario and better balanced than some of my other Lantern-flavored attempts so far. I am also happy to say that Darkseid was well represented as I actual won all three of the Bye games played (even though they scored a win with half build total points per the FE house rule for the players involved). Due to me playing throughout I did not catch a lot of highlights from the other games, but there was plenty of humor at the Apokoliptian table, including The Joker targeting my entire team before finally getting to shoot at the last available Parademon Grunt (yay Shape Change!), two Parademon Grunts mistaking Crisis Robin for a cookie (and not know how to handle it as they have no concept of comfort food) repeatedly, and Adaline Wilson pinging Moloids while denying them Super Senses (she was one of the only figures in the tournament that cost less than a Moloid). Darkseid suffers neither fool nor Moloid.

The next even is on 08/01 and will be 300 points, Golden Age, 10% feat cap (remember, ATAs are not feats and thus don't count against that) for the Green Lantern Special Object. I'll be out of town so Biscuit will be the ruling judge for the Event. Note: I believe I misspoke yesterday and said that the event was on the 8th. It is scheduled for the 1st, so expect it then unless Biscuit needs to move it. And of course there will be special scenario rules for the event.

Mr. Pilkington
08/04/2010, 18:03
You don't have to have to limit yourself to characters with zero range, but you won't get any benefit from a range value above zero. I know that is vague, but I'm trying to keep the scenario rules secret(ish) for now. The focus here is that you satisfy rage more by punching someone than by shooting them.

Ah, yeah, I forgot about colossals. No fielding them, as the main one that is worth it for the point level of the game is the Guardian of Fear, and his specials use range and/or LOF a lot.

I'll check on my Cat/Bat extras when I get back in town Monday and PM you.

08/05/2010, 21:35

Hawk
08/06/2010, 11:20
Thats kinda what it sounded like to me was that no range was part of the scenario. But I wasnt sure, hence the questions. I was actually thinking of fielding a colossal Sentinel Alpha but oh well... See ya'll there.

Mr. Pilkington
08/07/2010, 00:21
I decided to be nice and warn everyone on the no ranged attacks bit. If you brought a range-heavy team and I sprang that on you it might absolutely ruin your chances in the games. I wanted this to be a brick slug-fest but a lot of top bricks have a range and would be left out with a zero-range only stipulation. If you *want* to bring ranged combat focused figures then by all means do. But the scenario won't let them do their ranged stuff.

Thank you everyone who attended the Foundation's Edge BatB Heroclix tournaments! We'll be on Heroclix hiatus awaiting the WoS release. I expect the first WoS tournament will be around 9/19 or so, assuming things ship correctly. I'll post the tournament schedule here and in the store.

For those interested, the special rules for the final Lantern prize (blue/Hope) were as follows:

Whenever a figure is KOed both teams roll to see how hope changes. The side that lost the figure rolls one die. On a 1 or a 2 they give their highest point figure a click of unavoidable damage (representing the high point figure losing hope). The side that did not lose the figure also rolls one die. On a 5 or a 6 they give their lowest figure a click of healing (representing the low point figure gaining hope). Note: this healing can only go up to the figure's starting line, so no healing an AE about the orange line if it swapped in, etc.. It definitely rewards aggressive play as you can get a click of healing and cause an extra point of damage if you KO an opposing figure, but the dice rolls keep it from being too unbalanced.

Again, thanks for coming out and playing! We'll have open gaming (most likely board games) on the weekends without HeroClix.

Mr. Pilkington
09/26/2010, 12:30
In general things are very casual at FE. many of the regular players like playing thematic teams rather than ultra-competitive ones. I also try to mix up things with special build rules and scenarios too. For the most part we just like to show up and have fun playing. We do have some rather good veteran players who can bring the pain should the need arise, but we keep that for special occasions.

Here's the schedule for events at FE for WoS!

10/03 – How Can It Be Floor If He's Crawling On The Wall
Modern Age, 300 points, floor 50%
Highlander rule is in effect. At least 150 points of the team must be from Web of Spider-Man. Prize: Webbing tokens

10/10– Sunday, Bloody Sunday
“Silver” Age, 300 points
Highlander rule is in effect. All figures from all sets are allowed but all cardboard elements follow Modern Age rules (no feats/BFCs, only Modern Age Bystanders, etc.). All figures with B/C/F gain the following trait:
Bleed
When an opposing figure takes damage from an attack using B/C/F, put a bleed token on the opposing figure's character card if it does not already have one. At the beginning of your turn deal one penetrating damage to all opposing figures with a bleed token on their card. Bleed tokens are removed from the card if the figure is healed or a figure may be given a power action to remove a bleed token from its own character card.
Prize: LE Daken (Guest Judge: bisquit)

10/24 – Uniforms, Not Capes
Golden Age, 200 points, 5% Feat cap
Highlander rule is in effect. Each team may have only one non-generic figure and must have a minimum of four figures total (not including bystander tokens). Prize: LE Burglar
(if you have questions on what is a generic figure just ask here or PM me)

11/07 – Old School Free-For-All
Golden Age, 500 points, 10% Feat cap
Highlander rule is in effect. Prize: Webbing tokens

11/21 – Marvel Monster Mash!
“Silver” Age, 400 points, Marvel Only, All figures must have “Monster” keyword
Highlander rule is *not* in effect. Unique rules still apply. All figures from Marvel sets are allowed but all cardboard elements follow Modern Age rules (no feats/BFCs, only Modern Age bystanders, etc.). Special scenario rules will be announced at the tournament. Prize: LE Toxin

12/05 – Who Can It Be Now?

No Cosmic Spidey action in the events, except maybe the 500pts one! Good call!

Well, that was only semi by design. I wanted to give one tournament where folks could go all out, albeit for a possible less desired prize (webbing cocoon tokens). I juggled point totals on events back and forth and just happened to fall where Cosmic Spidey ended up excluded from almost everything.

As a side note, if folks have questions/suggestions/problems with the event layout feel free to let me know publicly or privately. I'm trying to put interesting events together and not have things just devolve into the same teams showing up/winning each week. For example, the Bleed scenario was all Joe's idea and it looked neat (and thematic with the prize).

Maybe gear the events towards the set and have an event where you have to play a lantern team of color choice say 400/500pts because thay all cost so much. You could have the main leader then they could recruit other characters that share a certain key word to be in their corps for colors that do not have enough characters to choose from. Maybe a 75th event where the figures have to be JLA/JSA members? Bring out the Lantern objects give them certain powers and place them on the map, when a character picks it up the lantern they get those powers like the anvil in HOT. A game where everyone plays the Trinity!!

Mr. Pilkington

I don't have the full schedule ready yet, but we are planning to hold the only sealed event at FE on January 2nd. Product is getting more scarce and they have a brick's worth available. The format will depend on the number in attendance. If we have 5 or less we can do a two-box buy-in (constructed or draft). If between 6 and 10 people show we'll do a single-box buy-in draft. This does mean there will potentially only be 10 spots available (unless FE can get more of the set). The prize will be the White Lantern Special Object.

Lets see..

Here are the teams that i can remember:

My All Star Squad:
80 Batman
145 Green Lantern
59 Sandman
57 Sargon the Sorcerer
59 Mr. Terrific

Came in first, beating a JLA team, another All-star Squad team, and a Doomsday tentpole.

JLA:
75 OOTS Batman
72 Zatana
173 Superman
80 Green Arrow

Other All-Star Squad:
120 Superman
100 Wonderwoman
80 Batman
54 Wildcat
29 Crimson Avenger
2 pogs.

Doomsday:
259 Doomsday
46 Ragdoll
25 Lightspeed
41 Johnny Alpha
29 Lockjaw

I liked the JSA batman before this tournament.. but after seeing him in action.. he's really good. On the right map.. he decimates.

Which unfortuantely my first opponent (JLA) did for me.. he chose the heroclix/horrorclix map.. with lots and lots of elevated terrain.

Batman got hit first from a RS from see-through stealth GL, superman was pretty well shut down by outwit (and, because i wanted to use it, had his heavy object replaced with a light due via sargon).

vs. the other All-star Squad, we played on the JSA museum map.. GL hit superman, but then wonder woman started beating him down. was able to phase away when on his last click, and eventualy regen up 1. Wildcat made short work of sargon (and nearly killed sandman) but couldn't hit batman. I won, but barely (GL on his second-to last, batman one click down, and a serverly injured sandman left).

vs doomsday.. well. RS+PB, an outwitter and high AV from batman made short work of doomsday.. I don't this he was able to hit anyone.

Woooo! One bright part of my trip to Indiana: I brought my stuff to send off for Sinestro figures and we have to mail things to Fort Wayne Indiana! My submissions will probably be there like tomorrow.

Yes, I'm really grasping for something good to come out of this trip.

On a different topic, I'm kind of surprised that Deadshot didn't show up in the tournament. He would be ugly in a TK/Barrier team (TK him to hindering in range, barrier after he shoots to protect him). He'd be even worse in a Golden Age team with Warbound. *shudder*

I'm sure you did perfectly fine without me. Granted, reading those two threads just brought up my old arguments for Heroclix to be on a hex grid rather than a square grid. *sigh*

02/02/2011, 12:30
Just a reminder, the next tournament is this Sunday. 400 points Modern Age and no team will get theme team bonuses (so this is a good time to play non-theme figure combos).

Also, for the folks there last Sunday, I believe we played a bit of it wrong. WL Animal Man was borrowing powers from other WLs on hos team but he should not have been able to since they did not cost less than him. So all that Outwitting wouldn't have happened. Just something to remember (and the main reason why I don't pick Buddy for a WL-themed team).

FE's address is as follows:

(919) 832-0044

As it stands we may try to have a single-box buy-in sealed draft on Sunday (3/20). I'll be checking with folks tomorrow to see what they think. It might be our only chance at a sealed event if the set ends up as scarce as folks expect.

Mr. Pilkington
03/13/2011, 18:50
So we may be able to have a single-box booster draft using GSX on Sunday the 20th. Rick is still trying to verify that he'll have product (he might be shorted one brick in the initially shipment). If we have product it will be a single brick, so there will be a hard limit of 8 players for the event. I plan to use a 3-d object as the prize.

I'll know for sure either Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Darkstone

SR Armor
SR The Captain
Duo Cable/Deadpool
Colossal Nemesis
MORE MINDLESS ONES

SR Juggernaut
SR Magneto
SR Wolverine (Horseman)
SR Storm
Duo Gambit/Rogue
Duo Colossus/Wolverine
Colossal Apocalypse
Colossal Onslaught

Any games scheduled for this Sunday? I was not able to attend the sealed event so post how it went and if we are having any games this weekend. Want to know who dominated in the sealed events. Thanks.

Mr. Pilkington
03/24/2011, 16:01
Nothing this week. I'm putting together the schedule (should be posted soon-ish). We have 5 LEs and enough Crimson Gems/Fin Fang Fingers to have 2 more events so 7 tournaments.

The sealed only had 3 players so I got to round it out and play. We did 300 points from 2 boxes sealed rather than 1 box draft. Jason L. fielded Juggernaut and Aaron Stack. Joe fielded Storm, Madrox, Domino, and Caliban. The other two teams were SR Phoenix OMAs. Joe went 3-0 with his awesome TK+PC+(pushed to)Perplex supporting Caliban (and the added bonus that Caliban was mostly fighting X-Men and Brotherhood to allow him to ditch action tokens). Phoenix was okay if she could roll well enough to hit. The Phoenix/Phoenix face-off was decided ultimately by who made the most Impervious rolls (me, as it turns out).

FE should have a brick or two of product available now and then that will be all for GSX. I may try to work things out to try to have a couple of sealed events for the Captain America set, as I think they are an interesting change over normal clix games, but we'll have to work out supply issues and I'll want feedback from you players as ultimately that means another tournament that costs you to play.

On thew extras side, I now have a full set and have been mined out of the nicer figures. I'm still looking for 2 more Frost Giants, 2 more Madrox and as many Mindless Ones as I can get. My notable extras now include one Onslaught, a couple of Mark V Sentinels (one in-hand, one more once I trade with Jason), a Colossus/Wolverine duo, a Rogue/Gambit duo and a broken-wristed SR Storm (whom I will attempt to fix). I have a number of commons, some uncommons and very few rare extras; it took a decent amount of trading to finish my set.

Wow, someone learned about the color tag... ;)

As per the new Player's Guide:

#018 Caliban
The keyword "Horsemen of the Apocalypse" is
"Horsemen of Apocalypse".

And Mr. Worthington *might* prefer that you call him "Archangel" rather than "arch angle", especially given that he was Death at the time. ;)

White Lantern

Sabretooth's MORTAL WOUND power does not counter powers that have healing effects. It prevents the figures hit from gaining the benefit from healing effects. So a figure with Regeneration will still have the Regeneration power and could even be assigned an action to roll for it, but if the roll resulted in a 3 or more the figure would not get the clicks of healing.

And I can bring a Gem for your use.

Our events are generally open to any number of players. We only have issues with sealed events, when we might not have enough product to go around.

Can I make a suggestion about the game on 6/19? If you want to see Robot keyword teams represented that day you may want to open up DC and Indy for Robot players to choose from. There just aren't that many Marvel robots to make a competitive team with. X-Men alone provides many more choices,(especially after GSX) not to mention the dozen other mutant keywords. Just a thought.

I guess my question is what do you mean by competitive. Marvel has the most Robot keyword figures available and have about the same amount of figures or more with all of the standard powers with a couple of key exceptions. DC has the only Robot TK and has the most choices for Robot HSS (a whopping 3 figures vs 1 in Marvel). Indy really only brings Perplex to the table (with the cheapest front-loaded Brilliant Tactician thanks to Robot from Invincible). Special powers tweak things a bit, as does TA availability (the Superman Enemy TA being of note to add more Outwit), but overall I don't see the Marvel options as being non-competitive.

The mutants do have a lot more pieces available, many of them quite good, but I think the robots can field something useful. If I'm the only one with a Robotic World Order team that day (to play against Byes if we have an odd number) then so be it. I wanted to keep a theme of Sentinels vs. Mutants in the Marvel universe given that the prize is a Sentinel that eventually joined the X-Men.

Besides, my robots will always have a fallback plan, namely to die horribly to the vicious masses of evil mutations (as tends to happen in the comics). Granted, I didn't say it was a *good* fallback plan. ;)

Fantomex is legal for the tournament (he has the X-men keyword) but I'm guessing you're trying to make a themed team? I don't usually make keyword changes (even though there are some pretty bad mistakes in the keywords). Given that this is day-of and most folks won't see this in time to adjust I'm gonna say no. If you have special requests like this that would change the published attributes of a figure please ask them earlier. I don't really mind making changes as long as everyone has a chance to see the change and plan for it.

We're planning to have a tournament on 07/10. 400 points Golden Age, 10% Feat cap. Prizes to be determined (possible GSX LEs, possibly a gift certificate to FE). We're also looking at a sealed Captain America tournament after the boosters come out. Either 07/17 or 07/24, 300 points. If we have enough product we'll do 2 boosters. If not we'll do 1 booster drafting. I'll work on the rest of the schedule once we have the full prize contents.

Everything is on schedule. Remember that you'll only have one figure on the map at a time, so some powers and team abilities won't be useful (Mastermind, Defend, JSA, etc.).

Mr. Pilkington
08/24/2011, 11:32
Alright folks, we need to make a decision. Non-Marvel/DC/Indy branded, fully compatible Heroclix are now available. Right now the list includes Street Fighter and Gears of War. I have been asked whether or not those figures will be legal to use in tournaments at FE. They are absolutely legal in Golden Age and Silver Age events, as only Modern Age has any restrictions on legal figures. The question does remain about Modern Age. Official Wizkids events do not allow them in Modern Age, but that only really effects the large conventions.

So, would you like to include the other properties in Modern Age? In theory that will include Halo, Lord of the Rings and even Iron Maiden (if they ever get released) if they all prove to be 100% Heroclix compatible. I'd like to keep this an all-or-nothing decision as a decently large group of people would probably never come to a consensus on which sets to include and which to leave out.

Regardless, I try to schedule even numbers of Modern, Silver, and Golden Age events per tournament season to mix things up. So chime in with your opinions! I know you have them!

Kurenai

Daveogara

I agree with the two posts above, but I do fear LOTR will give the game too weird a flavor. When I see hobbits and Kryptonians together on the same game mat I may react the same way I do to seeing mustard on ice cream. Put me down for a cautious "yay".

Mr. Pilkington
08/26/2011, 09:56
LotR and Iron Maiden are the properties that have me in any way hesitant. In some ways I feel hypocritical, as I am fine with the Sojourn clix in Indy, or the Asgardians from HoT, but LotR feels like we will be bridging into Mage Knight territory. I think I'd prefer LotR to be a stand-alone game using clix bases like Star Trek Expeditions. I'm also biased toward science fiction, so sets with high tech guns and space aliens get more leeway from me. Iron Maiden just makes no sense and has no appeal. But as I said, I generally feel this should be an all-or-nothing choice.

So we have ~2.75 votes for making them Modern-legal (I am abstaining from the vote for now). I need more input! Without more discussion I'm going to say that we will follow Wizkids' example for this week and not allow SF or GoW in Modern Age. But don't worry, the events in the two weeks after it are Golden and Silver, so all figures work.

We don't have anything scheduled for 9/18 or 9/25 currently. I may not be available to participate on the 18th as I'll be spending my whole day on the 17th at All Fun & Games for the Clix for a Cure event there. Assuming the Superman set does indeed get released on 9/28 then we'll most likely have a single-booster draft event for it on 10/02. I need to verify with Rick about the Fall Sale at FE while I write up the tournament schedule for the Superman OP kit.

Mr. Pilkington
09/26/2011, 16:24
Alright folks, as per verification today with their distributor, FE should have the Superman boosters normally Wednesday. That means we'll have a single-booster draft sealed event Sunday. I generally use a 3D object as the sealed prize, so I'll probably go with Green Kryptonite (assuming the OP kit also arrives on schedule). We do have a couple of things to decide regarding the tournament (although neither really has to be decided until right before people open packs):

1) What point value would folks like to use?

I ask this because there are quite a few high-value figures in this set, some of which are Common! We normally run 300 points/3 actions. Would you prefer to bump up to 400? You will still only be getting 5* figures, but the chance of getting stuck with a massive under-build is relatively low.

2) What do we do about the 6-figure boosters?

Basically, since the bibtb figures (superman Robot) is now a special 6th figure in one booster in the brick, we might actually get someone opening a booster with 6 choices. This will throw off the figure totals, causing one person to have an extra figure with which to build. I have a couple of options so far:

a) Just draft the 6-figure box normally. Yes, one person will end up with an extra figure, but it will in theory be the worst in the booster as everyone else will get to pick the better ones ahead of it.

b) Make the Superman Robot ineligible. The person who bought the booster keeps it but sets it aside and cannot use it for the tournament. They then draft normally, picking their figure and passing.

Thoughts? Additional solutions? General apathy?

Woodford
09/26/2011, 22:04
300 to 600 and occasional 800+
and B

Animazed2003
09/27/2011, 07:34
I'm thinking 400 and option B. Also I can't remember how single-booster draft sealed events work. I'm guessing you buy a single booster choose a click and pass the box and choose another clix to build your team? Also do you keep the clix you pull from your box or do you keep the team you build?

Mr. Pilkington
09/27/2011, 09:36
In a draft event you'll be organized in what are called pods to select your figures. One person in the pod will open their booster, check all the figures to make sure that there are not errors (i.e. check the bottom dial number and see if it matches the top dial number), put each figure on its first click and display them to everyone. That person then chooses a figure and passes the rest to the left. The next chooses and passes until no figures/elements are remaining to be chosen. Then the player to the left of the first opens and goes through the whole thing.

Once all of the people in the pod have opened you should be left with 5 figures. Those are yours to keep and you'll build your team from them. It is a good idea to pay attention to the point values of the figures you pick to try give yourself options on team building later. You could just pick whichever figure you want the most from what is passed, but you might not be able to make much of a team. It is best to come as close as possible to the tournament point limit with your team, but some combinations will prove more appealing even if it means playing at a point deficit.

If you have any additional questions just let me know!

clix-freak
09/30/2011, 08:04
400pts, maybe bring some of your extra figures from your case allowing the option of trading out a figure if needed. If you open a pack with SM robot you kep that figure and draft the other five figs as normal, my 2 cents.

Mr. Pilkington
09/30/2011, 09:41
Sounds like the general consensus is to do 400 points for the build, with Superman Robot excluded and belonging to the opener. We'll have a vote before opening on Sunday to make sure, but this is how I'm leaning.

Animazed2003

Sorry we weren't able to make it yesterday guys, had to help my mother in law. What do we have planed for this Sunday?

Mr. Pilkington
10/03/2011, 15:15
I'm still working out the full schedule (depends on when the FE Fall Sale will be), but Sunday we will have a 400 point Modern, 200 Points Floor Superman tournament. For those unsure on what "Floor" means, you need to have at least that many points from the set specified. So in this case you need at least 200 of your 400 points in figures (and objects) from the Superman set. If anyone has problems trying to come up with a legal team just let me know. I can bring extras of at least the commons.

The prize will be LE Zibarro. We'll be alternating Kryptonite flavors and LE figures. So far we've given away Green Kryptonite. Given the number of prizes, the delay in Superman shipping, and the looming release of the Hulk set this year we'll pretty much need to run weekly to give everything away (or else start doubling up on Kryptonite prizes). So far Hulk is slotted for release on 12/7. I'm not sure what this might mean for Pearl Harbor.

Daveogara
10/03/2011, 20:33
I have the Bat-Man SR from the superman set. I'm looking to trade him plus a superman robot for Swamp thing, Aquaman, or Darkseid if anyone is interested. For Darkseid you will get the Bat-man and two superman robots. (I also have an extra Doomsday from DC 75th in place of superman robots) I also have dupes of just about every rare if anyone needs it. IS anyone looking to make all seven deadly brothers? I have three and will trade them for just about any generic from the last few sets, but looking for shield and kryptonians. 10/11/2011, 18:15
What are we looking at for the prize for this week?

Well, we'll be packing in the tournaments to get all of the prizes distributed. So far we've given away Green Kryptonite and Zibarro. FE has their Fall Sale on Halloween weekend, so there won't be a tournament on 10/30. The rest of the dates will be as follows:

10/16 - Red and White Kryptonite
10/23 - LE Commander El
11/06 - Yellow and X-Kryptonite
11/13 - LE Manhunter Grandmaster
11/20 - LE Superman Beyond
11/27 - Jewel Kryptonite (note: small prize due to holiday weekend)
12/04 - LE Bizarro-Girl

That should get everything out before Hulk hits on 12/07. The tournament for this week will be:

500 points, 5 actions, Silver Age (all figures are legal but all other elements follow Modern Age rules), Highlander rule in effect (no exact duplicates of non-generic figures)

I'll try to have the rest planned out and posted before Sunday. Also remember that if you would like to order any Hulk boosters, Gravity Feeds or Fast Forces packs you have 2 weeks to get them in to Rick at FE. I also started the venue paperwork to get FE registered for the Infinity Gauntlet tournament season next year (monthly events from January through August).

And that's not all!

On 12/07 Hulk should release, giving us a whole new tournament kit through which to tear. I expect that we will do a sealed event on 12/11 as usual (single-booster draft if we get a lot of people, variable booster sealed if we don't) and I'll map out the events for the new kit. Expect no tournament on 12/25 and possibly on 01/01 depending on how folks feel about New Year's Day. Galactic Guardians is slotted for March, with its own kit. The Mighty Avengers is listed for June, again with kit. The Infinity Gauntlet series will be running from January through August. And that doesn't even address the DC releases, which may be smaller things tucked in between the Marvel releases (but they may not all have tournament kits).

Lots of Heroclix on the horizon. It will be very challenging to maintain a full collection. And that's not even counting additional properties like LotR or Street Fighter (which may have had a second set announced at the Alliance show). *sigh*

Wow, at least there's no room for boredom. Also I'm down for playing on new Year's Day.

For the upcoming Wonderful Toys tournament can we use the 3-D/Special Objects from the Heroclix.com Print & Play downloads?

Mr. Pilkington
10/25/2011, 10:11
It is Modern Age, so you can only use Modern Age cardboard elements (which pretty much means only ATAs). All 3-D objects are allowed, but not all cardboard special objects. Thus you can use the following objects to fulfill your build requirement:

Any Kryptonite object (SM)*
Scorpio Key (CA)*
Crimson Gem of Cyttorak (GX)*
Bucket of Water (AN)
Any Lantern object (BB or AN)*
Mjolnir (HA)
Comm Dish (LoSH Starter) - heavy object, adds +1 to attack value when used
Newsbot (LoSH Starter) - light object, using does not count against actions
Broken Drone (DR Starter) - light object, can make ranged attacks (4 R, 1 D)
Generator (DR Starter) - heavy object, not destroyed when used in attack
Bookcase (Indoor kit) - light object, adds +1 attack value when used
Computer (Indoor kit) - heavy object, adds +1 to attack value when used
Office Desk (Indoor kit) - light object, can increase defense value by +2 once
Soda Machine (Indoor kit) - heavy object, adds +1 damage dealt when used
Crate (Outdoor kit) - light object, can be thrown 10 squares
Dumpster (Outdoor kit) - heavy object, not destroyed when used in attack
Lamppost (Outdoor kit) - heavy object, adds token to target on hit
Mailbox (Outdoor kit) - light object, adds +1 damage dealt when used

* - this object costs points to field on your team

I will have three of each from the indoor and outdoor kits with me which will cover anyone who does not have a 3-D special object. Also remember that you must have a light, a heavy and one other object on your force.

Just a note, given that we haven't had anyone directly against letting the new non-Marvel non-DC properties into Modern Age, and given that WizKids even announced that Street Fighter is Modern Age legal, we are going to allow all new properties in Modern Age.

So once LotR releases we will be able to have an epic battle between Gandalf and the Balrog (Street Fighter) in Modern Age.

Did Foundation's Edge get any LotRs?

Mr. Pilkington
12/08/2011, 09:35
To my knowledge, no. They didn't get a solicitation for it. They still have never received the Watchmen Fast Forces packs either. Diamond really doesn't seem to be swift with WizKids orders.

AF&G in Apex got some LoTR. I think I saw one starter left last night and Viv can probably order more (I believe she uses Alliance instead of Diamond).

Just an FYI, here's the game schedule for the rest of this year:

12/11 - No tournament
12/18 - Hulk sealed, single booster draft format, 3-d object prize (Gamma Bomb?)
12/25 - No tournament, Merry Christmas!
01/01 - resume Hulk OP tournaments, format and prize TBA

I'll need to see all of the prize kit to map out the events through January and February. I do have our first Infinity Gauntlet tournament scheduled for 01/29. It will be a single booster draft if we can have the product on hand. Please go sign up via the WizKids event system so I can get a count of the number of attendees. I plan on getting all of the FE events logged there, but the IG series ones could get a lot of response and I don't want anyone to be left out.

Ended up ordering a box of LotR online since FE never was able to order them (stupid diamond)..

not bad, need 5 to complete CUR:
004 Legolas
012 Pippin
014 Faramir
019 Saruman
021 Mouth of Sauron

Extras:
001 Frodo
002 Sam
008 Shagrat x2
009 Ugluk
010 Lurtz
011 Merry

Sculpts are great, especially the starter-specific pieces. Though i think its just a matter of time before the Witchking's flail breaks.

See, I'm of the opposite opinion on the sculpts. I've liked the Ringwraith sculpts plus Sauron and the Witch King, but I am not impressed with any of the other sculpts I've seen. The only thing I'll give them is that they seem to mostly be in scale with each other.

Looking at the rules forum, I hope we get clarifications soon. Between the epic actions and the stacks of horde tokens the LoTR stuff is not all that straight-forward. *sigh*

We will have a tournament on New Year's Day. The format is:

400 points, Silver Age, Marvel Only, 50% Floor: Hulk (at least 200 points must come from the Hulk set, including boosters, CTD and FF)

The prize will be LE Major Glenn Talbot.

Hope to see you there, but if not, have a Happy New Year!

We'll have a golden age tournament Sunday 01/08:

300 points, Golden Age, 10% feat cap, Highlander Rule in effect
Prize: LE Daredevil

Hello everyone!

Sorry if I'm wasting anyone's time, but it's been a while since I was heavy into Heroclix (I'm kicking myself for not finding out about Foundation's Edge sooner since I'll be graduating from NCSU in a semester) but I was wondering:

Do I have to do anything more than show up with a team and follow the rules to enter these tournaments? If so, what do I have to do to feed my addiction?

Thanks!

-Hank
